at 1:22-1:45, you're not supposed to use the bell of the ride. it's open high hats. i know it's easier to do it the way you did, but it messes up the sound of the song so you should try to do it the way the actual drummer does. at 2:51, you all of a sudden open your high hats way too soon and abruptly. you need to open it up a little at a time.

sadly, you're wrong. That part of the song isn't played on open hi-hats, it's played on a ribbon crasher (which if you observe the video and/or read the description, I don't have) Also, the part at 2.51 isn't "opened slowly", it IS played the way im playing. It may seem harsh as the whole audio is recorded by one microphone (as opposed to a mix of many).

It's true the hihat in the other part it's not opened slowly,but in the original song he plays 8th notes mixing normal notes and ghost notes,and it seems you only heard the strong notes.

Actually you should watch eny live perfomance of this song, Dom (Muse's drummer) uses a Ribbon crasher where this guy has his 2nd tom (the one in the left side..)

And in 2:51 you can clearly hear in the studio version that Dom opens his Hi-Hats :)

I don't think he's talking about the lack of ribbon crasher, I noticed it too on those parts on the toms I think you hit the hi-hat a 16th to late... I could be wrong but something is off there. Nonetheless great job on the song.

the reason im hitting th hi-hats a 16th early is because on that 16th hit, he hits the ribbon crasher and then the hi hat on the next 16th. Together they make the "sloosh" sound. I dont have a ribbon crasher, so instead im hitting the hi hat. So technically, yes, im hitting the hi-hat a 16th early...but it's due to lack of gear! haha

it is quite a simple fill at 1:45, all u do is 2 hits on the first tom, then 1 on the floor tom, before a kick and then a flam on the snare. Then 2 hits on the first tom again, but this time 3 hits on the floor tom, before kick and then snare, with 2 on the opened hihat, and thats just played 4 times over.

theyre not - theyre on the beat the way dom plays them. Theyre kept constant since after the first chorus.

he uses the ribbon crasher on the first hit and the hi hat on the second - whereas im playing both hits on the hi hat as i dont own a ribbon crasher.
