Ella Fitzgerald is classic and wonderfully refreshing. She extended the lifespan of jazz by a couple decades in popular culture. Her departure from the jazz scene rendered the advent of rock'n'roll. Unfortunately, with a few exceptions, jazz will never have the mainstream appeal it used to. Simply put: no arts programs in public schools, no appreciation for quality music.
Ella's singing doesn't sound staid even in these times because she was better than anybody ever was or will be. This song deserves more than ~159 views...
