I agree with the people who say that one should only hunt for meat. Regarding the extra suffering when one misses, killing an animal in a slaughterhouse isn't exactly painless either. Also, I would argue that the natural life of the animal more than offsets the added suffering. Also, if everyone hunted for their meat, instead of just buying it, the ecosystem would suffer a lot less, people would eat less meat (I would guess) and be more aware of the 'cost' of meat.

I've hunted Kudu in the Eastern Cape, they must make use of beaters to chase kudu around a moutain to where the hunter is waiting, that way at least they'll get a more ethical shot at a kudu.
What the hell were they high fiving for . Im a British Royal Marine Commando, Sniper and once a year (if im not on operations in Helmand, Afghanistan) we get over to Saskatchewa , Canada for some big whitetail buck hunting and Moose. I use a .338 same calibre as my British AW sniper rifle uses. And its always a case of ONE SHOT ONE KILL...kill cleanly first time or dont bother pursuing this sport.

i am 50/50 with you here. Hunting like this is usually not hunting at all, just killing. Huntin in general is actually necessary. If the deer population wasn't kept in check by hunters, do you realize how many people are killed each year by car acccident with deer? Hunting is necessary and yes I participate in it. I don't expect it to change your mind but this is m,y oppinion

I've hunted Kudu in the Eastern Cape, they must make use of beaters to chase kudu around a moutain to where the hunter is waiting, that way at least they'll get a more ethical shot at a kudu.

What the hell were they high fiving for . Im a British Royal Marine Commando, Sniper and once a year (if im not on operations in Helmand, Afghanistan) we get over to Saskatchewa , Canada for some big whitetail buck hunting and Moose. I use a .338 same calibre as my British AW sniper rifle uses. And its always a case of ONE SHOT ONE KILL...kill cleanly first time or dont bother pursuing this sport.

Yeah I do agree, Im 22 and Ive hunted since I was 15. I do not consider myself a "proffessional" hunter, no way, but....Im sure all hunters at one time or another (myself included!) have unfortunatly missed and only wounded the animal we aimed to take, and I was deeply upset and ashamed with myself. What I felt really takes some beating, knowing you are the cause of the pain the animal is feeling makes you as far from human as is possible. Hunting should be 1 shot kill, he was lousy!

30/06 or .308 should do the job on the first shot. I did my first with a 1st WW 303. Game farmer are nature best friends, land has to pay for itself. Hunting is a way to "save" land from fences and domesticate animals. Think 4 a second before making a silly comment. Rather be free animal and get hunted than being factory farmed. The footage liiks like Graff Reinett - Jansenville... oops secret is out!
