What they fail to bring up in all these "re-enactments" of Milgrams experiment is that it was done for the sole purpose of finding out how normal people in Nazi Germany could do what they did to the Jews? The original experiment jacked up some people and they didn't do it anymore. Interesting experiment, showed how normal people follow the "authority" figure no matter what.
The claim that 65% of Americans gave 450 volt shock, therefore, 2/3 of Americans (and others) are evil, misses Milgram's point. Milgram did 19 variations of this experiment, varying the relationship between the scientist, teacher and victim. As a result of the variations, 0% to 90% of people gave 450 volt shocks to victims. Milgram argued his proves the particular relationship with authority, not innate evilness in people, causes such evil acts.
@rippelfamily not to mention sometimes the scientist was not even there. you would be surprised how much correlation there is between the closeness of the victim and experimenter.
the funny thing is that if a teacher were to tell the class to shut up and listen, 9/10 kids wouldn't actually respond. but if a creepy doctor tells some randoms to give a stranger an electric shock, they will.
haa awesome. i actually found this out by my gcse psychology teacher, i'd definately remember to write this key study in my exam! i did a recreation in my favorites. your my inspiration, i hope more keystudies are comming :D
Funny, I was the 70000 view for the first time, and the 100 comment.
Btw great video, really!
I had to make a huge work about milgram experience based on eichmann case, this experience had more than 30 variations, from 2 "teachers" not agreeing to many other things.
I would not say that the americans acted identical to the natzi's simply because the man in the white cote told the learners that there would be no long term damage.
very helpful thank you very much, have you ever considered making simuler animations for other case studies?? *crosses fingers* (make my studying easier)
that was amazing, our teacher showed it to us in our psychology class, but im in my second year now so we'd allready studied it (unfortunatly, this would have been a fantastic revision video for my exams)
But yeah, as I was saying, It's very effectivly done with enough information to get all the marks and condesned down to an easy to remmeber style and of course, the humour always helps with the learning :)
@sketchaholicgirl ye she did, but thought i'd give you link as it is brilliant and highly useful, lol, mum thought i was messing about on internet, but nope ^^ i weas doing my psychology and even showed her the video

I like how you explain how stupid people are when they view this with the knowledge the experiments were false, but it totally does do justice to why Milgrams experiment really was so horrific.
vorallem das is wiedermal typisch du^^ psychologie mappe hamma eh keine mehr, alles scho verloren xD bzw. nie gehabt also müss ma unser wissen von wo anders holen^^
Actually, there were 3 participants per round in Milgram's experiment. The person getting shocked was an actor. The entire point of this study was to determine people's obedience to authority. 40 people were tested. Of the 40, 26 administered what they believed was a fatal dose of electicity to a stranger because a guy in a lab coat gave them $4.50 and told them to keep turning the dial.
hahaha yeah the class loved it and so did i..i always ask my teacher if the videos we will watch is inappropriate cuz i like those kinds and he said that this one is a little.but yeah, i loved it and i was laughing my ass off and i loved the music! we have to come up with some project like this too!! thanks for the help and keep making vids ! :)
"But...but he said he was going to kill me!" "Don't you worry about it. I shall take full responsibility!" Lol now this made me laugh so damn hard!!! Great job with this!
Who's to say it's not funny? You? Just because you don't find it funny, doesn't mean others won't. Some tribes used to laugh as rather large predators tore their children apart. Obviously some people here thought it was funny.
Actually 100% of participants went up to 300volts (or thereabouts.), which is enough to kill someone. After this point the tape (or the actor) was silent. 64% of participants then went up to 450volts, the maximum.
Your video is funny alright, but I am not sure if that is a good way to present what the results of that experiment seems to point at: most humans strongly disapprove wrongful violent obedience, and still two of every three people you see in the street would electrocute you to death if a laboratory technician asked them to. Can we go on blaming or praising others for their actions? Is something like ethical education possible? How could we (seriously) stop worrying about that?
although its disturbing to think that a cartoon makes such a facinating find more interesting, ur alittle incorrect on the white coat thing. they actualy changed what the experimenter was wearing to control the authority of a white coat. still got the same results though.
Great stuff. I busted a gut as always. I've got tears in my eyes! I love it when the guy threatens to beat the other guy! And thanks for adding the eye blinks! Looks great!
