DX 10, only does volumetric and dynamic shit. DX 9 can be as good looking as DX 10 if they weren't aiming for marketing purposes. A clear example would be Metro 2033. No difference between the 2 DX9 and 10 can really be appreciated.

Vista lags for me, with 6 GB of DDR2 RAM, ATi Radeon HD4200 IGP, AMD Turion 64 x2 M500 @ 2.2GHz

Not a single lag spike on 7. I regularly have 50+ tabs open in firefox while watching a movie (which, at good quality, can actually be a bit demanding).

So yeah, if you want to get vista, get it, but you'll regret it. Also, 7 does NOT look worse than vista (in fact, they look similar, or 7 might even look better, depends on your point of view.) I have 7, and I'm happy with it. Better than XP IMO :)

@slipknotskate1 Like I said, no lag on 7 with the 50 tabs, while vista at low res with no programs running acts like I'm running on a P1. Got the tabs closed anyway, I had my reasons to have all of that shit open back then.

Therefore, 7 is much better than vista, power hunger wise at least. If you do like vista, you can still dual boot though. Just my opinion. I've also heard a machine with 512 MB of RAM can run 7 without lag. [/OS discussion]

Seriously?? No textures have been changed.. None of the game files have been changed.. DX10 doesnt update the textures of every single DX game, that doesn't make sense. The changes are in the rendering.

Secondly, The lighting has changed quite a bit, Spec/Normal maps are more defined through the rendering, no game files have been changed.

DX11 is amaing though, its a huge improvement, specially for programmers.

In any case, I've seen games intentionally changing textures and depths of field when you change DX. This is a business after all.

DX 10 and 11 are great excuses for ATI and Radeon and Windows (among other companies involved in the gaming industry) to sell new products IMO. The minor changes are really that, minor.

Look at the tree in the bakground, its definitly more detailed, and the tree in the DX10 mode seems to use parallaxmapping or something similar.. but i actually think that the major visual difference in these videos are bloom and textures.. but dont forget that DX10 has support for dynamic enviroments, meaning that grass and other plants actually grows.
