Oh do I remember those days. I worked in daycare forever and I can't tell you that if you cut a toddler's naptime by even just ten minutes, they are cranky for the rest of the afternoon. I am glad to be out of daycare. I love children and working in daycare began to make it seem like a chore and I won't enjoy playing with kids. But I do plan to work with deaf children when I get my interpretor degree.

The most important thing in raising a child would be unconditonal positive regaurd, he did not condem the child himself, only his actions. The fact he recorded the incident is debatably assholish, but we do not know the motive. I am a pre-med student with a 4 month old daughter, i will not raise her like that, but to each there own parenting style.

OK...I don't see the problem. I react the same way when I miss my nap and lunch. A bit of a tantrum, a tear, crawling on the floor, confusion with the door, deciding between the floor or mattress. @AGlover90291 No! When the child misbehaves, you don't give them what they want! It's part of psychology, known as "positive reinforcement". That means the child will learn that whenever they want something, all they have to do is scream or cry. Ever see Super Nanny or Nanny 911? The children on those shows are perfect examples of what happens when parents give in to their kids' screaming and crying and give them what they want.

when i was a kid i got smaked on the wacked on the hand and spanked, i feared my parents when i was young but i also loved and respected them, they were very hard on me, but that built character in me and helped me become the succesful man that i am today. they were tough but loving parents and i think that some parents go too easy on their children, i am not sayin they should go hardcore, but not "oh you can do anything you want"

It seems to me that the dad is creating this situation for the video.I have not seen anything out side a 'normal' child reactions to a father who is promoting an irritation to the child so he will react and others can view it. Shame on you for using your son in this manner.
Dad here gave the kid way too much attention when kid got uncooperative. The better response (though less entertaining) would have been to clearly ask the kid for his cooperation, and if he refused, then "help" the kid to follow through, either by guiding him upstairs or carrying, if neccessary. Prolonging the drama in this video was counterproductive and allowed kid to get what he wanted: lots of negative attention, and uncooperation.

OK...I don't see the problem. I react the same way when I miss my nap and lunch. A bit of a tantrum, a tear, crawling on the floor, confusion with the door, deciding between the floor or mattress. What's the problem? Just kidding. Poor little guy...I feel his frustration. Hopefully he good some good sleep and felt better.

@AGlover90291 No! When the child misbehaves, you don't give them what they want! It's part of psychology, known as "positive reinforcement". That means the child will learn that whenever they want something, all they have to do is scream or cry. Ever see Super Nanny or Nanny 911? The children on those shows are perfect examples of what happens when parents give in to their kids' screaming and crying and give them what they want.

Heres some really useful instructions on parenting.
1 - Pick up the child in question.
2 - Sit down, folding child over your knee.
3 - Produce a paddle, meat tenderizer, or hardleather belt.
4 - Whip the childs in questions ass at least fifty times without stopping.
5 - Order the child to clean up.
6 - If the child cleans up, say, "That is good, well done."
7 - If the child refuses, repeat process 1 through 5.

This kids an idiot but most are. I don't think the dad is doing anything wrong, mater of fact he has a LOT more patience then I do. when i was a kid i got smaked on the wacked on the hand and spanked, i feared my parents when i was young but i also loved and respected them, they were very hard on me, but that built character in me and helped me become the succesful man that i am today. they were tough but loving parents and i think that some parents go too easy on their children, i am not sayin they should go hardcore, but not "oh you can do anything you want"

Video shows lame parenting.
Dad here gave the kid way too much attention when kid got uncooperative. The better response (though less entertaining) would have been to clearly ask the kid for his cooperation, and if he refused, then "help" the kid to follow through, either by guiding him upstairs or carrying, if neccessary. Prolonging the drama in this video was counterproductive and allowed kid to get what he wanted: lots of negative attention, and uncooperation.
