I still have the original video of this... it is from the US DMC finals which took place on March 3, 1996 in San Franciso, California. Some of the year confusion comes from the fact that you start competing in your country's DMC regionals late in the year before (i.e. Fall 1995) in order to make it to the World DMC the next year (i.e. 1996).

One of my favourite routines of all time. The crowd started out laughing at him when he came out but he quickly won them over & brought down the house.
