Blaming teachers is akin to blaming a dentist for your kid's cavaties! Is it the fault of the dentist if you let your kids eat candy and they never brush their teeth or floss!
God bless the hard-working, dedicated brave teachers of the inner-city! They are the only ones willing to teach the children of gang-members, prostitutes, drug-addicts, illegal-aliens, and down-right difficult, crazy people like you!
I would love to see Michelle Rhee attempt to pass the CA teacher compentency test
@MsJanetWood Either A) these kids are as you say are unteachable, and we should instead just put more investment in jails because that's where they are ending up now, or B) these schools aren't getting through to them. It might be that the teachers have poor management, poor working conditions, that their union dues are squandered on political campaigns, but clearly the organization as a whole isn't working. To say they are doing a good job makes you sound delusional.
@retsep81 It all starts in the home! Parents are their kids first teachers! I think parent education programs are essential! It takes a village to raise a child!
Teacher "X" teaches 5 classes. He teaches 3 Algebra classes, 1 Advanced Algebra class, and 1 remedial class. His first four classes are okay, but his last class is utter chaos!
Why?
Is it because the class has 43 students instead of 35?
Or maybe because the majority of the students don't speak English?
Could it be that it's late in the day and the kids are tired?
Or maybe, just maybe, the kids are DOWN-RIGHT LAZY?
Stop blaming the hard-working, dedicated teachers!
@MsJanetWood The vast majority of public school teachers are lazy slobs, who graduated in the bottom third of their university class, and who suck at the teat of union power. It is disgusting that teachers would be so greedy when there are children left out in the street without a decent education. As someone who was educated in the public school system, and who worked hard but still learned very little, I can tell you that the dedication of most public school teachers is lacking.
@poolopis01 The laziest, dumbest teacher still does MORE for children than any administrator!
Furthermore, don't forget to thank all your former for teachers. Thank them for teaching you how to read and write . . .as for . . . the bad manners . . . you learned that at home!
@MsJanetWood The laziest dumbest teachers are the ones having intercourse with children instead of teaching them how to read and write. I learned to do so at home, where the instructors were competent. Competence is completely absent from public schools, and its silly incompetent people like you who allow a system of failure to perpetuate. It is typical for someone of lesser intelligence to change the subject, to say, manners, when they don't have a valid point to make. Get over yourself.
@poolopis01 That inst true. There are numerous teachers who graduated in the top of their class. What does going to a private school or a charter school say? Its not where you go its what you do. A good example is George W. Bush. He attended Yale University and graduated with a C average. Do you think that would get one of these inner city children very far. I don't think so.
Ideally all schools should be private and government should have nothing to do with education, but if we are to continue with a government funded system, then we need more choice within that system. We need a voucher system of education. Every parent should be able to take their educational funding to the school--public or private,of their choice. No more lottery.
it must be very sad for the ones that dont get chosen :(
