@copout211 Id like to see you say this to the face of Maj. Richard Winters if he were still alive. Dont be disrespectful, dont you understand the sacrifices made, some died so young as 17, they never got to experience a full life, its unfortunate how ignorant some people can be such as yourself.
After the wars are over, we´ve to fight each other let me give you the respect from paratrooper to paratrooper. I´d wish it would give a movie like "Band of brothers" about the "Red Devils" of the Brits and the "Grüne Teufel" of the Germans. We are paratroopers and we´ve got the "band of brothers"! I´ll leave with the german paratroopers call. "Glück ab!" ;o)
i am airborne and i have 20 something jumps under my belt and i'm still as afraid of heights as i ever was. i don't think it's something that will go away, but you sure will learn how to deal with it.
Too bad my grand father died in 97. I miss him cause I would have liked to show him the movie "band of brothers". He sure would have cried all the way to the end. But one thing remains: Canada was there in normandy BEFORE the american. I Know cause canadian regiments killed more germans the the americans. They arrived near the end and claimed all the fucking glory. My grand father went to an american officer to protest and got put to arrest.
@MrSuperKandy I'm not sure what was the exact date but they were fighting the germans way before the us. I think hey decided to join the war after Pearl Harbour, if my memory is good. I must someday view a history movie about the real exploits of the canadians. And the americans knows it very well. Althought they were massacred in Hiwo Jima, they won over Japan by attrition the enemy...
@brossmart You never said the war you said normandy which is false because the us army paratroopers arrived before any canadian washed ashore on the beaches and our marines kicked ass on iwo inflicting far more casualties on the japanese so u need to brush up on your history sir before you go making false accusations
@MrSuperKandy I reported what was told to me man, I never accused anybody of anything. All I know is that My grand father and his fellow soldiers were aready in normandy and they were fighting the germans behind the beach before the invasion. That doesn't the some american soldiers were not there as well. If only I could find the info somewhere on the net. Let me tell you, I gave him a lead gun to shoot on cans and he was shaking, I can't even imagine what he endured there. Was not fun at all.

I'll never forget the first day of airborne training. We were marched and formed up in front of the "white house", left standing at the position of Attention. Then the music started...over the loud speakers. We had over 20 students terminate just because of this song. I thought it was funny as hell...until a "Black Hat" got in my face and dropped me for 100 pushups for laughting. I did my best to stop laughting. Jesus christ i think some people need a taste of real war...
@Infantry506th Neither were most of them in the war actually. They were drafted, just like the americans. It kinna just was one douchbag and some of his friends..
the 101st and 82nd jumped early am 6 june 1944, carentan fell 8 june 44, that is not 3 months, even in old mathematics. the airborne did not jump at monte cassino, and the only reason the battle was so prolonged was because DDE would not let artillery and air attacks hit monte cassino until it was the only recourse, because the Allies refused to attack or hide in religious, sacred or holy positions, unlike the wehrmacht, who routinely did just that
@maxinpains WWII was 70 years ago The US entered the war in 1941 the war ended in1945 BUT if you count the years that the US was Natural it was 75 years ago
Nazis? You aren't not really in a war, right? I'm a german Paratrooper. I have a big respect for all american soldiers, but in the world war II the german paratroopers are the hardest soldiers. The 6. Falljägerregiment hold Carentan in the normandy a full month. 3 american Divisions must need to capture the city. I only must say Monte Cassino.
@Stormghost You are 100% correct about the German Paratroopers. Monte Cassino was an amazing feat of bravery, the kind that only a Paratrooper can perform. And this compliment is coming straight from the mouth of a Red Devil straight out of the 82D Airborne Division.
@1504RedDevil With respect sir, the Red Devils were the British Paratroopers, and the 82nd Airborne Division the American Paratroopers. It's kinda hard to be both.
@iddoomer The Red Devils also refer to the 1-504th Infantry Regiment 1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division (the 2-504th being the White Devils and the 3-504th, which is now the 1-508th of 4th Brigade being the Blue Devils.) The 504th aquired the nickname "Devils in Baggy Pants" from an exerpt in a joural belonging to a German officer that was found during the Sicilian Campaign, an example of how demoralizing the prowess of the 504th was to the Axis powers there.
@Stormghost sorry but bostogne and the battle of the bulge were fought by Easy company of the 101st airborne. THEY were the hardest soldiers not the panzy ass germans who murdered more jews who had no defense. get your facts right buddy or just shut the fuck up
@jerseyjackalMMA Regular German soldiers didn't murder jews. It can't be said who the hardest soldiers were but I can assure you there were plenty of hard German soldiers in WW2 and it's wrong to call any man who will put himself between wars desolation and his family, a pansy. I respect German veterans of WW2 just as much as Allied ones and I think you should too.
@mrrobotica i don't respect ANYONE who can stand for the deaths of hundreds of innocent people... sorry but i don't respect evil... i don't think you should either
@jerseyjackalMMA You should look up the Nazi Field Marshal Rommel. He was a great man who fought for his country. Whether your country has committed evil or not, the noblest fate that a man can endure is to place his own mortal body between his home and war's desolation.
@jerseyjackalMMA You do realize that many Germans didn't know about what was being done to the Jews, right? And the ones that did stand up against the Nazi government because of what was happening were killed. Also it wasn't hundreds, it was millions.
@Stormghost You need to take another look at Carentan. Most of the Germans had left Carentan by the time it was attacked and captured by the 101st Airborne. A couple of days later the Germans tried to retake it when their tank units came up from the south. That attack failed when the 4th Armored Division linked up with the 101st just outside of Carentan. The Germans did not attack Carentan again for fear of being cut off by other units that were advancing from Utah and Omaha beaches.
@Stormghost Are you really a paratrooper? and also the 101st airborne stayed in bastogne for over a month against any army with little too no supplies or food.
@zik2500 have a little respect he may be german but i doubt he cares what the hell you say you arogant piece of shit i doubt you even have the balls to go through basic and then jump training
@Stormghost your a shit head, the almighty fallshirpmfjegers fell to the 101st airborne division 506th regiment, and got their ass kicked by them all the way back to germany. couldnt match up to fellow airborne soldiers.
hey bud. he meant no harm or disrespect; it is a line from the video game Medal of Honor: Airborne, a WWII FPS. in WWII, thats just how the Americans viewed hte Nazis
@Stormghost you are right about the german paratrooper of ww2. but if you read the journels of guys like Rommel and Guderian you would see that the only american troops they had any respect for, or feared, was the airborne troops...
@Stormghost It wasn't three divisions, it was three companies. Carentan was a strategic choke point for the beaches at Normandy, specifically Omaha beach. The germans wanted it to stay in their hands at all costs. Didn't work to well, though.
@Stormghost I served in the 82nd Airborne and I had the privilege of training and jumping with the Fallshirmjager unit and earning German jump wings while they earned American wings....They were HardCore and excellent Paratroopers....
@BlackListKing1992 some people need to get rid of that "we" thing. the americans of today still consider themselves like "we liberated europe in WWII" and thats fine. but I does not mean that german people are still like "we are the nazis" get over it guys. its not our generations that started the war
@BlackListKing1992 i think the 101st airborne was in iraq and is in Afghanistan, but they arn't actually paratrooping and stuff, just helping the 3rd ID with stuff on the ground
I remember being like 3 yrs old when my old man played me this record!! I always thought it was glory glory lol. Wrong! The lyrics are as badass as everyone else who was in the 82nd! Thanks to all of you badass AA'S AIRBORNE!!!
They were rangers but now days rangers are airborne. The airborne ranger was not established until 1951, after WWII which was the period saving private ryan was set in.
Does anyone know the official version of this song? I've been searching for it and all I get are boy choruses singing it, I'd like to get this version.
Not anymore sadly. I dont know the full details on how or why they were disbanded though. All I really know is they were just as well trained and equiped as our paratroopers.
Yeah, there were. They had a reputation for being really tough. Unfortunately they were on some peacekeeping mission somewhere in Africa and some kid snuck into the base to steal some food. A few guys caught him and he ended up getting beaten to death. There was a huge uproar about it, and because of some (possibly drunk) assholes, the Canadian government disbanded them.
@hannes1813 That's rediculous! When Patton slaped his soldier they didn't disband the Army did they? And because of a few soldiers they disband an entire divison? That's insane!
@SolidSnake09999 Well, it was more because of the public outcry. I mean, how d'you suppose the civilian population back home saw it; front page news that some soldiers who were supposedly representing the "elite" beat a kid to death? The public can usually get what it wants. I mean, we ALL know how a few bad eggs can spoil it for everyone, look at Nam, same thing but on a much larger scale. Most were just doing their jobs, but you get the Gung-Ho lil' shits and that's what feeds the protesters.
Im leaving for Fort Benning Georgia for Basic on FEB 23rd. And in all truth, this video or song strikes no fear. For the fact, every soldier knows whats on the line. And I know full well. But jumping for the first time will not only be and honor but a privilege. Great video! Cant wait to go!
Wish me Luck! - Pvt. Patrick J Naves AKA Kero the Deviant Fox
@kerokitsune Well you go and crush em without mercy, dig em out of those hills and kill em all with utter contempt for their lives. Keep your powder dry, your sights black, and your steel sharp and don't be the bitch that rats out your seniors when they haze you. Your in their killing business now.
Trust me man, once you get in songs like this won't strike you with any kind of feeling lmfao. You'll just listen to them to memorize them, this is in fact a cadence we call.
we could be drinking coffee and eating donuts right now but the jerries took them....and for that we must kill them

Stormghost 1 year ago 15
@Stormghost You are 100% correct about the German Paratroopers. Monte Cassino was an amazing feat of bravery, the kind that only a Paratrooper can perform. And this compliment is coming straight from the mouth of a Red Devil straight out of the 82D Airborne Division.
1504RedDevil 1 year ago
@1504RedDevil With respect sir, the Red Devils were the British Paratroopers, and the 82nd Airborne Division the American Paratroopers. It's kinda hard to be both.
iddoomer 1 year ago
@iddoomer The Red Devils also refer to the 1-504th Infantry Regiment 1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division (the 2-504th being the White Devils and the 3-504th, which is now the 1-508th of 4th Brigade being the Blue Devils.) The 504th aquired the nickname "Devils in Baggy Pants" from an exerpt in a joural belonging to a German officer that was found during the Sicilian Campaign, an example of how demoralizing the prowess of the 504th was to the Axis powers there.
TheCharliebro 1 year ago
@iddoomer The other battalions in 1st Brigade include the 3-319th Gun Devils (Artillery) and the 307th Black Devils (Support).

@Stormghost yeah but the germans held the town and the americans had to attack so obviously the germans had a major advantage
360Pea 1 year ago
@Stormghost sorry but bostogne and the battle of the bulge were fought by Easy company of the 101st airborne. THEY were the hardest soldiers not the panzy ass germans who murdered more jews who had no defense. get your facts right buddy or just shut the fuck up
jerseyjackalMMA 1 year ago
@jerseyjackalMMA Regular German soldiers didn't murder jews. It can't be said who the hardest soldiers were but I can assure you there were plenty of hard German soldiers in WW2 and it's wrong to call any man who will put himself between wars desolation and his family, a pansy. I respect German veterans of WW2 just as much as Allied ones and I think you should too.
mrrobotica 1 year ago
@mrrobotica i don't respect ANYONE who can stand for the deaths of hundreds of innocent people... sorry but i don't respect evil... i don't think you should either
jerseyjackalMMA 1 year ago
@jerseyjackalMMA You should look up the Nazi Field Marshal Rommel. He was a great man who fought for his country. Whether your country has committed evil or not, the noblest fate that a man can endure is to place his own mortal body between his home and war's desolation.
mrrobotica 1 year ago 2
@jerseyjackalMMA You do realize that many Germans didn't know about what was being done to the Jews, right? And the ones that did stand up against the Nazi government because of what was happening were killed. Also it wasn't hundreds, it was millions.

@Stormghost Wasn't that a strategy in Carentan so the Germans were trapped...
andrehekma 1 year ago

@Stormghost you are right about the german paratrooper of ww2. but if you read the journels of guys like Rommel and Guderian you would see that the only american troops they had any respect for, or feared, was the airborne troops...
abntemplar82 8 months ago
@Stormghost I am an American paratrooper and why are you responding to that we (you and I) are paratroopers period we don't respond to such things.
cowlico 8 months ago
@Stormghost It wasn't three divisions, it was three companies. Carentan was a strategic choke point for the beaches at Normandy, specifically Omaha beach. The germans wanted it to stay in their hands at all costs. Didn't work to well, though.

@BlackListKing1992 some people need to get rid of that "we" thing. the americans of today still consider themselves like "we liberated europe in WWII" and thats fine. but I does not mean that german people are still like "we are the nazis" get over it guys. its not our generations that started the war

@HaloStroudsburgBoy
You're so wrong.
It is Gory Gory what a helluva way to die.
You're confusing it with the Hymn of the Republick were it is Glory Glory Halleluja.
That song was used during the American Civil war, Blood on the Risers an American Paratroopers song.
Blood on the Risers is based on the music from Hymn of the Republik.

Are there Canadian paratroopers today?
Buffaloman126 2 years ago
Not anymore sadly. I dont know the full details on how or why they were disbanded though. All I really know is they were just as well trained and equiped as our paratroopers.
pz1231 2 years ago
Damn
Buffaloman126 2 years ago
Yeah, there were. They had a reputation for being really tough. Unfortunately they were on some peacekeeping mission somewhere in Africa and some kid snuck into the base to steal some food. A few guys caught him and he ended up getting beaten to death. There was a huge uproar about it, and because of some (possibly drunk) assholes, the Canadian government disbanded them.

@hannes1813 That's rediculous! When Patton slaped his soldier they didn't disband the Army did they? And because of a few soldiers they disband an entire divison? That's insane!
SolidSnake09999 1 year ago
@SolidSnake09999 Well, it was more because of the public outcry. I mean, how d'you suppose the civilian population back home saw it; front page news that some soldiers who were supposedly representing the "elite" beat a kid to death? The public can usually get what it wants. I mean, we ALL know how a few bad eggs can spoil it for everyone, look at Nam, same thing but on a much larger scale. Most were just doing their jobs, but you get the Gung-Ho lil' shits and that's what feeds the protesters.
hannes1813 1 year ago
Im leaving for Fort Benning Georgia for Basic on FEB 23rd. And in all truth, this video or song strikes no fear. For the fact, every soldier knows whats on the line. And I know full well. But jumping for the first time will not only be and honor but a privilege. Great video! Cant wait to go!
