  • My second problem is when I'm editing the automation track, it will like cut the sound off sometimes ;/

  • Well, I fixed the problem. I was adding the controller to the Filter drop down menu not the cutoff. ;p

  • When I connected the controller to the filter, it made the filter LFO not the cutoff ;/ Help..

  • thx helped out a ton!

  • this is truly sick ive had this program for 2 years and never understood how far and also how to use half of what LMMS can do... awsome

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering what that "Controller Rack" thing was for!

  • thank u so much. u r my idol right now, ive been tryin 2 figure lmms out for a while haha

  • Can i put this on my ubuntu? someone tell me the apt-get for it im a noob!

  • @DazmoTube the ubuntu repos are so far behind with lmms , the version they ship is 0.4.5 whereas the latest stable version is 0.4.12. since you are a noob you wont want to be building lmms from source yet i guess, if you do tho pm me and i will guide you through it ;)

  • thx. Im not interestd in dubsteop or whatever..but the tut was v useful. cheers.

  • nice :D keep it up =) listen to my beats ;) share up to 1.000 views if you want beats with vocals and new ideas!

  • THANKYOU SO MUCH

  • :O Nowai!

  • DAYUM!

  • In the controller rack, what kind of controller was it?

  • How come my keyboard noise is all fuzzy :S?

  • Massive respect to you sir!!!

  • everytime i try to make a note or listen to a sample all i get is this choppy static can someone help me?

  • now i can make a wubwubwub myself. OMG O.O love you man

  • @1:56 you use a "2.wav" Sample, I don't have this sample but I need this! How can I get this?? btw. great Dubstep <3

  • @Rakletable this is a sample i created myself, it is uploaded at freesound under my username mikobuntu, i have a lot of dubstep samples there for free download, feel welcome to use any of them ( most are at 140bpm perfect tempo for dubstep ) ;)

  • LOVE = ME+YOU

  • I love you sooo much!! <3 no homo man... HERO RIGHT HERE!!!!!

  • holy fuck i just found my new favorite program

  • @punkbutler88 mine too ;)

  • you just earned another lover!

  • O.O wow wow WOW!!!!!

  • Hell yeah, open source dubstep. From one LMMS/ Ubuntu user to another!

  • whats the link for this progam??

  • @circared2 lmms.sf.net

  • Check out my lmms dubstep ppl, its the video on my channel... It only has 1 comment and I wish it had more, it's not that bad really, i think, i've seen a lot worse... So if u would just be so kind to use your 2 mins for this I would be grateful...

  • oh man.. very nice!! o.o

  • EPIC!!! So gonna make dubstep now. never heard dubstep before this, but now that i have... HECK YA ILL MAKE IT!!!

  • I dont have any samples in the samples folder what do i dooooo

  • Sweet. Only problem I have with this is the automation editor doesn't let me stick to the beats so it's kind of a pain to keep a rhythm with it

  • and now i can make dubstep.thanks dude!you are nice!

  • This comment box isn't sufficient enough to describe my love towards you for uploading this video.

  • I don't have the FLO controller...?

  • Comment removed

  • Very good tutorial. You helped me with lmms but also with making a better wobble bass.

  • hey can you do me a favour and spell out what you did because i cant quire get all the numbers right after i master how to get it ill make my own by the way amazing video!! :)

  • Yes. Yes. Yes. This is awesome.

  • @nosignaljustnoise thanks ;)

  • @EpilepticElbow in this vid i have used "recordmydesktop" and i sometimes use "ffmpeg" which is good also.

  • When you're adding the speed controller to the automation track at 1:27 is that to change it dynamically from 8th note speeds to other speeds within the bar?

  • @orrymr when i drag and drop the dial it starts at 8ths but as i change it in the automation track the settings cannot be set to specific values, they are just being guessed. hopefully this changes in future versions of lmms.

  • In soviet russia dubstep makes you.

  • @singedu34 ;)

  • Yay they make it for windows!

  • where did you get all those samples!?!?

  • @LuigiKat11 i create 99% of my own samples using all kinds of linux (open source ) software, i have uploaded some to freesound as user mikobuntu ;)

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru oh and if you mean that they are showing in lmms, thats because i made a symlink (symbolic link) from lmms/samples folder to my /home/samples folder :)

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru How do you make your own sample?

  • @samboeli i usually justmake a 1 or 2 bar song in lmms, then export it as a .wav file, then open it in audacity and use a calculator to work out the exact length the sample should be ( this is to remove things like reverb tails at the end of the sample) then cut the excess amout from the end and export again to my samples folder.

  • nice job!!i see in your desktop fl studio but lmms it's a good daw!!

  • @KillaAvon yeah, i have the demo of flstudio, it is a really good daw, which i may purchase... but for a free and open source daw lmms is very good...

  • I made a dubstep track with this, it's in my channel

  • well done

  • <3

  • @Azereiah ;)

  • DUDE!!! I LOVE YOU!!!

  • @bluebox72 i can feel the love ;)

  • on 1:25 how did u drag the speed to the drop column? i cant figure it out

  • @DJstyloz use "Ctrl" key on keyboard , while left mouse dragging ;)

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru when i hold ctrl and drag the sound to the column and release, it just brings up wat a right click wud bring up.

  • @SkateIsYourFate use ctrl and drag for dials such as speed on the lfo controller, im unsure if you mean your trying this in the sample track, if so you may need to create an empty segment then drag and drop the sample, im not at my laptop as im answering this now,. but get back to me if your still unsure

  • ok so this vid isnt too old. how long yu been using lmms? jw btw

  • @miyulovechiyo4evarz i have been using LMMS approx 2 years, since version 0.3.2 i think iirc

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru add a compresser and that will give it that heavy bass feel and also add that 8x over sample effect not sure what it's called but you'll find it in the effects .

  • omfg this..... i love you!!!!

  • @miyulovechiyo4evarz theres so much love on my channel ;)

  • make more pleas really great !!

  • @StereoAndSound i have fixed my sound issue with my recordmydesktop screencasting app, and have also devised a few better methods for creating a wobble bass, so expect a vid soon ;)

  • @StereoAndSound i plan to make another 1 very soon, hopefully this week when i make the time

  • Because of imprecise LFO frequencies, the LFO is in a different phase each time it loops. Is it possible to reset the controller to the beginning of the phase at the start of each loop?

  • Love the tutorial, really easy to follow.

Is there any way to increase the vertical zoom in the automation editor beyond 800%?

You (and I am because I'm following this tutorial) are working in a very small space at the bottom of the editor, and at that scale, one pixel is way too big a difference in LFO speed to be usable for really precise rhythms.

  • w00t awesome, I'm so using this... who needs Reason haha

  • @ninjacyko haha i was thinking the same thing

  • @ninjacyko reason,fl studio, ableton, they all beat this and the plugins are terrible in lmms thats why i switched to fl studio and also massive i use now for the best dubstep sounds.

  • @wasteconnectionsdude actually I've stopped using LMMS too now, it's too unstable & wouldn't do what I wanted, even crashed when trying to use it as pure MIDI sequencer. I got Reason working under Wine but mostly just use Seq24 as a MIDI sequencer wired into synths & samplers & Hydrogen for beats, quite happy with that setup now.

  • @ninjacyko i only tried reason a couple of times but 20mins in a demo is not long enough to learn it. yes ive used seq 24 with a few linux synths and hydrogen all wired through jack, it is flexible. seq24 reminds me of my alesis mmt8 for sequencing, would be good used live

  • @wasteconnectionsdude yes but remember that all those daws are commercial, they would need to be better than a free daw... and yes a few of the plugins could do with being removed imo as i never really need them.

  • get some 16th notes behind that XD

  • from where i get this sample i got nothing in my folder O.o?

  • @schmonable by default the lmms/samples folder is empty, so you will either have to manually place your own samples in there or as i did, create a symlink ( symbolic link ) to your home/samples folder from the lmms/samples folder. i create my own samples and upload some to freesound as user mikobuntu ;)

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru

    ah oke thank u : )

  • the effects change at a constant rate, any way to fix that?

  • @OfficialMrMysterio if i think i understand you correctly, you are wanting a gradual change to the speed of the cutoff oscillation. to do this quantize (Q) setting in the Automation-Editor to 1/64 (which is the smallest step size at the moment) , then when you have clicked your starting point for automation click and hold the shift key whilst clicking to your desired 2nd point of automation ;) this will give a ramp between the 2 points.

  • how did you connect the controller to the automation editor?

  • @bikerdudefiftynine press and hold "Ctrl" key while dragging the dial with the left mouse key and drop it into the automation track.

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru thanks :)

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru wow, i see 2 people dislike my video, i think youtube should make it compulsory to at least give a reason for disliking a video especially when someone has went to the trouble to make a demo for users, i see a lot of this on very good YT tutorials where the person disliking it probably cant even make a vid themselves, well thats my rant over but needed to get that off my chest.. and also thanks to all for the supportive comments this makes me want to make more tutorials ;)

  • SOUNDS SICK!! now lemme figure out what you just did >_>

  • damn...

  • I cant find the LFO Controller in the effects stuff

  • the controller thing effects all the beats i make. how do i make it to where it only effets that beat.

  • WOW HES OR SHE GOOD

  • THANKS, this tutorial is awesome. And it makes me not want to spend money on something like ableton. :D

  • what's the name of the preset?

  • @bikerdudefiftynine if you mean in the triple oscillator its not a preset i just made it in realtime, not sure that i saved it, or if you mean the sample it is 1 i created myself using lmms and various other linux audio apps ;)

  • How do I get samples?

  • @lookoutforKURT try freesound site

  • can u save em and sell em on i tunes ?

  • @ajcovchadd1 not sure what you mean, do you mean the samples ; presets ; songs etc ?

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru No say if i make a full beat can i sell it on itunes ?

  • Check out my latest video! I wanna show you what I managed to make with your wobble tutor. :)

  • @MacJARedd yeah checked it out, excellent job ;) hard to beat some good dubstep

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru yeah, I noticed. :P

  • u do realize NO ONE has that controller, right.?

  • @iCandyExtacy yeah everyone does, you need to hit "Add" on the controller rack, then "controls" key ;)

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru FUCK lol. i just found that out. ahaha.. thanks ;D

  • man, you are awesome!

  • This is a great tutorial! Thanks a lot!

  • How can i Pick the SPD at 1:24

  • @Timpatue click and hold the SPD while holding the CTRL Button

  • uggg i cant undo anything on this program :(

  • can not get the automation to even affect the track at all!

  • Dude this is such a sick tutorial! I learned at least a thousand things about using LMMS just watching. Thanks!

  • this works ok but i cant do the automation part and still get it to sync with the beat correctly!

  • Thank you so much

  • THANKS DUDE :D

  • @LoneSohle no problem ;) also got a few dubstep wobbles made with ZynAddSubFX which will be ready soon whenever i get a full (160) patch bank complete... these are all sounds aimed at electronic music. will probably send them to tobydox or pgib so they are part of LMMS, also should complete my soundfont (SF2) too .....

  • Just downloaded this. Took me a while to get the hang of it though and making dubstep isn't exactly easy.

  • @5629hustlers9268 but its worth it whenever you get a few tunes together ;)

  • Where do u get your samples from.

  • @JamesLitsez I create all my own samples using lmms, ladspa fx and sometimes audacity to create waveforms too... i have uploaded lots of samples to freesound as user mikobuntu, search them out ;)

  • How do you add the sample track to add a .wav file

  • @thuggin556 left mouse click, which makes a segment in the sample track, then double left click that segment to search for your sample. ;)

  • how do you drag the dial

  • @Cafriding hover your mouse-pointer over the dial then, Ctrl & left-mouse drag (keeping Ctrl key pressed, then release left-mouse key to drop it).

  • thank you!!!!

  • Thank you sooooooooooooooooooo much! :)

  • I used to think LMMS was crap until I saw this video. You got an awesome video!

  • awesome

  • @Radminster thanks :) I have devised a few other more complicated methods for use in dubstep, i will make a tutorial soon

  • @SuperLinuxAudioGuru I tryed this, but for me that LFO (Controller 1) not works fine...

it just change all the time that filter settings :/ I could sent a MP with video if you wish ;) and can help!

  • @Radminster ok i sent a PM describing your error, hope this clears it up for you :)

  • Nice! -somewhat similar can also be made with the presets own LFO. That has the advantage that you can -save- the instrument as a named preset. Currently lmms does not save rack-LFO connections with saved instruments

    BR

  • @bearsoundz ... thanx, yeah the method you talk about can also be used. I am however able to save LFO connections with a saved instrument, within my own song, but as you say the settings are not saved with the preset instrument for reusing in another song :)

  • Nifty, this is a nice start. It's also possible for one LFO to control another LFO. (IMO, the automation tracks aren't quite there yet. They work to some extent, yet still feel kludgy and lack the ability to record actions. They're one of the few aspects of the software that still feel difficult to use. But who knows what the next release may bring.)

Back on the dubstep sound... I could see this as being the start of something that gets interesting with the Glitch VST effect applied. =)

  • @pauljs75 thanx, I will work on better methods if i can find them for wobbles (i can create some nasty wobbles in ZynAddSubFx, but have no way yet of automating their speed).

yeah your dead right about the automation, it needs a way of snapping to specific values instead of just guessing them. Yeah hopefully the next release has automation worked out :)

yeah using the dblue-glitch VST can give some gr8 results, but once again the VeSTige lib has not got support yet for tempo sync.
