Pickettywitch's version of "That Same Old feeling" got to number 30 in America in spite of being released after the "Fortunes" version of the same song. In UK, it reached number 5. This particular tune was on of the last to be recorded before the band split.
Heard of Picketywitch years and years ago, but never heard them, especially on the radio where I could have tried them. First time ever here, that's YouTube. Closest description of them would be a Motown and Spanky and Our Gang blend. Like the melodies and arrangements, but lyrically nothing new to say or how to say it. They evoke a lot of good memories for most people here, but still, that probably stopped them from making the crossing.
I didn't think that it sounds TOO similar to That Same Old Feeling - but now you mention it you may be right. I enjoyed both songs at that time - both nice harmonies, both a lot of fun. Nostalgia!
What a memories in Arica Chile. Girls in the beach doing their games with the guys.!! Maritza still I love you. We are a little old but our heart is still strong for love!!!!
I remember as a little kid my mum playing their songs in the early 70's. Until today I forgot they even existed and I always thought they a black group from the US. Definitely have a Motown feel about their music. Happy I rediscovered them today.
I never ever compared Polly with Dione Warwick. Polly was better than her and Dusty Springfield.Remember zipping to work on the Triumph on a Sunday morning to the shiprepair yard ,knocking down quite a few rivets then like the song she was mine all mine on a Sunday afternoon and she still is. My wife was born on the same day as Polly Brown and we were early twentys when all these songs were around.Seeing Polly on 2009 she really hasn't changed to us because we are the same age .Wonderful times.
I love Picketty witch very much I wish they still have music activities and I can fly back to England. I read Polly likes dionne Warwick, yes her voice sounds similaar, also she likes Bossa Nova that I am crazy about as well. Thank you
I do believe Pickettywitch were from Australia. I'm relatively new to their music as i am a young person who first heard same old feeling in 2006. I fell in love with it then i started listening to Sad old kinda movie last year. Love this tune and if anyone has this song or Sad old kinda movie would you please send them to me i'd be so grateful.
Absolutely wonderful feel good Music Picketty Witch & the Polly Brown were some of the best quality feel good Music for way back in the 70's I remember the songs well...I truely think they were ahead of their time for back in the 70's, I liken Polly Browns voice to a very young sounding Dionne Warrick, Polly had a very unique sound & tone I love listening to these songs they bring back alot of good memories, what has happen to Polly Brown does anyone know????
I remember hearing all these songs on the radio here in Canada like "Same Old Feeling, Sad Old Kind Of Movie" Up In A Puff Of Smoke and of course Summer Time Feeling" as a kid in the 1970's but I never knew it was Polly Brown until recently. But even back then I thought she sounded so nice. It's a wonder why she as the frontperson of "Pickettywitch" didn't become more famous.
Polly Brown had a top 20 hit with honey honey in the early 1970s a cover of the Abba song.. She was one half of the duo Sweet Dreams and used a dark appearance while recording on top of the pops... Check out the video for yourself.. Hey! but what a great singer she was, - Thankyou for posting!
Original members were Polly Brown-vocals, Chris Warren-vocals, Bobo Brittain -organ, Martin Bridges -guitar, Mike Tomich-bass and Keith Hall-drums. Martin Bridges and Mike Tomich were replaced later in 1970 by Peter Hawkins-guitar and Brian Stewart-bass.These two were replaced by Paul Risi-guitar and Paul Riordan-bass.

It may be chessy music but it had a feel good quality which you don't get in today's music. Remember seeing these in the 70's. Thanks for posting.

Sounds a bit cheesy these days but fun at the time. Polly rather reminiscent of Dionne Warwick but good in her own right too.

GeorgeBurrell got it right. Polly Brown as Dionne Werewhite!
