I love the lyrical structure to this song. Its very similar to how alex turner writes his songs these days. Pure lyrics and the last few secs is all the chorus parts which should have been placed as 'verse chorus verse.' Really nice twist on the traditional Beatles-ish) way to write a rock song, great song indeed.
for everyone saying that vocal mic is too low. the sound in the video is coming from the camera, not the mics. the original recording of the song was lost at some point and could not be put on the video.... learn to read...
Great song but this sounds like mumbling infidelities. I'm a musician and there is this thing called a sound check. I'm sure he didn't realize how low the mic was but it falls on him if it sounds poor. Anyways great song like I said and it's impressive that he can play off meter and sing simultaneously. Guitar players know how difficult that can be.
If you look at his playing during the chorus, he isn't actually playing the recorded guitar track, he's playing chords, so he's not actually playing off meter. But I have seen videos of him playing the original version and singing, so yes, he does have that talent, he just isn't doing that in this video.
He's not playing chords alone, dude. He's playing the song in Open D tuning, which allows him to play the individual notes as well as the chords at the same time. look at his fingers move on the last string.
maybe you should search for the acoustic version of vindicated from dashboard. He has a great voice, but he gets the majority of his recognition from the heart he puts into his performances. He's very good live and in studio, don't judge off days as the bands full potential.
