Learning to build mobile apps is not an easy endeavor. It can be done, but you must have the drive and aptitude to overcome the many challenges. If you are looking to create an app for your business (or idea), you should simply hire a qualified professional.
I know many talented (and affordable) mobile developers (freelancers and agencies). I'd be happy to provide an introduction.
@022Jackal that's pretty pointless. Best way to learn is to find your own problem. Then solve the problem using a program. Otherwise, write a shell, that'll teach you boatloads.
"hello" was a call tag, therefore it could be anything and does not have to be changed when you change the text represented by it. (Basically you are setting and calling a variable)
Thanks. 1 more question, my iphone app uses the vibration function. you think it'll crash on the ipod touch? because ipod doesn't have the vibration functionality?
that sucks .. i wanted to see how sensitive the accelerometer is and you cant really do that with the emulator ahh well. maybe a student deal will come out.
As my comment stated below. I don't see the same options as you when I open Xcode. None the options say "cocoa" when I try to create a new project.
Anyone have any ideas about this? This is actually stopping me from learning to develop on the Iphone since I can't follow along with tutorials. I've tried contacting Apple....no reply of course.
I see the same thing as you. It doesn't have to do with the CommandN, that is for opening a new file. When I to create a new project I don't see the three options that show in this video or that show in apple's videos....anyone know why? Apple hasn't responded to my question.
You need to open Xcode (which is likely in: Developer-->Applications-->Xcode). You will then get to the screen you see in the first few seconds of the video. Hope that helps.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the iPhone SDK working on the PC? I know that OSX 10.5.2 has been made to work nativley on the pc and in some occasions under VMWare.
did you use a espesific manual or something that would teech you? because i want to learn objective-c too!. please jell me what you use for learing it...
I who also is a student and new to programing actualy think this is almost better. I can relate to the problems and not just get a selution to the problem but actualy see how to solv it.
We appreciate that you are willing to take the time to do a tutorial but if you're going to do something, please do it right. I couldn't watch this because it was so annoying with all the "uhh....lets see....c'm'on....i hope this works...do it...um....please don't beach ball me."
Here's an idea....edit your video to make it more professional looking ...or....practice doing a video.

The AudioToolkit framework will not throw an exception if you try to vibrate on the iPod Touch.

You have to pay the developer fee to do that. :(

this video is based on an older version of the iPhone SDK
which would most likely result in having more options in your favor and not the same options that he has

Can someone tell me the differences???
Xcode
Cocoa
Iphone sdk
Objective C
Tyrant1993 3 years ago
XCODE: Programming language.
Cocoa: Programming program.
SDK: software dev kit.
Ob.C: XCODE formatting.
sliderkk 3 years ago
-_- you got it all wrong i figured it out...
XCODE-your "project builder"
COCOA: YOUR IDE
Objective-c- programming language
Tyrant1993 3 years ago
XCode is a program for writing code in
Cocoa is an API for objective-c and is mainly on the mac
The iPhone SDK is the software / tools for writing iPhone applications, e.g. XCode / Interface Builder
Objective-c is a programming language
carolg88 3 years ago
Don't listen to the idiot who responded to you,
Xcode = Program to compile and build applications.
iPhone SDK = Software Development Kit.
Obj-C = Programming Langauge.
