  • Where can I find some sort of list of programming code that I can learn?

  • @022Jackal that's pretty pointless. Best way to learn is to find your own problem. Then solve the problem using a program. Otherwise, write a shell, that'll teach you boatloads.

  • Just an FYI...

"hello" was a call tag, therefore it could be anything and does not have to be changed when you change the text represented by it. (Basically you are setting and calling a variable)

  • I got a question.

My app works perfectly on an iphone. Does it mean that it'll definitly work fine on an ipod touch???

What are the differences between iphone and ipod sdk?

    Thanks

  • its the same sdk. Don't worry

  • Thanks. 1 more question, my iphone app uses the vibration function. you think it'll crash on the ipod touch? because ipod doesn't have the vibration functionality?

  • The AudioToolkit framework will not throw an exception if you try to vibrate on the iPod Touch.

  • no im pretty sure vibration is working on the iTouch

  • You rock, keep at it!

  • Could you please remake your search application (iphone sdk tutorial 2) with cocoa touch like this hello world application.

    I would really appreciate that!

  • hey can anyone tell me why when i start a new project in xcode i dont get cocoa touch application to show up in the New Project box?

  • A little painful. To drawn out. You should practice what you are going to show and maybe not do it after midnight :-)

  • does it work on a PC?

  • where can i download iphone sdk

  • developer.apple. com

    ONLY FOR MACS

  • i need that code u pasted in there

  • I don't have the thing at the beginning that says "myview"

  • how do you put the program on your ipod touch ? that's what i can't do. it only lets me build stuff for the emulator

  • You have to pay the developer fee to do that. :(

  • that sucks .. i wanted to see how sensitive the accelerometer is and you cant really do that with the emulator ahh well. maybe a student deal will come out.

  • this video is based on an older version of the iPhone SDK

which would most likely result in having more options in your favor and not the same options that he has

  • As my comment stated below. I don't see the same options as you when I open Xcode. None the options say "cocoa" when I try to create a new project.

Anyone have any ideas about this? This is actually stopping me from learning to develop on the Iphone since I can't follow along with tutorials. I've tried contacting Apple....no reply of course.

  • its called "View-Based Application"

your using a new version that changed a few names

  • Dude, the code please.

  • I have the same problem as Evsean where the cocoa touch now??? I just downloaded the iphone sdk beta 8

  • when i try to open the new project, it doesnt say cocoa touch application anywhere. It says "view based application" and stuff instead. Any help?

  • Go File>New Project not Command"N" it opens something else up instead of new project when u push Commadn"N"

  • I see the same thing as you. It doesn't have to do with the CommandN, that is for opening a new file. When I to create a new project I don't see the three options that show in this video or that show in apple's videos....anyone know why? Apple hasn't responded to my question.

  • You need to open Xcode (which is likely in: Developer-->Applications-->Xcode). You will then get to the screen you see in the first few seconds of the video. Hope that helps.

  • Can someone tell me the differences???

    Xcode

    Cocoa

    Iphone sdk

    Objective C

  • XCODE: Programming language.

    Cocoa: Programming program.

    SDK: software dev kit.

    Ob.C: XCODE formatting.

  • -_- you got it all wrong i figured it out...

    XCODE-your "project builder"

    COCOA: YOUR IDE

    Objective-c- programming language

  • XCode is a program for writing code in

Cocoa is an API for objective-c and is mainly on the mac

The iPhone SDK is the software / tools for writing iPhone applications, e.g. XCode / Interface Builder

    Objective-c is a programming language

  • Don't listen to the idiot who responded to you,

Xcode = Program to compile and build applications.

iPhone SDK = Software Development Kit.

    Obj-C = Programming Langauge.

  • Great Tutorial . Thanks a lot.

  • woah i'm learning this now, and i'm in 8th grade....but i'm in honors...so never mind

  • oh i meant about that slope-intercept form thing

    not the SDK lol

  • Its illegal to run Mac OS on a PC.

    Breaks the Apple Eula.

  • EULAs are not law.

  • Does anyone know if there is a way to get the iPhone SDK working on the PC? I know that OSX 10.5.2 has been made to work nativley on the pc and in some occasions under VMWare.

  • you shouldnt go to google and search: leo4all torrent to get Leopard on your PC

  • did you use a espesific manual or something that would teech you? because i want to learn objective-c too!. please jell me what you use for learing it...

  • wow....

  • I who also is a student and new to programing actualy think this is almost better. I can relate to the problems and not just get a selution to the problem but actualy see how to solv it.

    Great work!

  • We appreciate that you are willing to take the time to do a tutorial but if you're going to do something, please do it right. I couldn't watch this because it was so annoying with all the "uhh....lets see....c'm'on....i hope this works...do it...um....please don't beach ball me."

Here's an idea....edit your video to make it more professional looking ...or....practice doing a video.

Effort to want to DO a tutorial video = A+

    Video itself = F

Just be a little more professional. Thanks

  • that is right
