Our choir is doing this now, and it's amazingly hard cos of all the damn staccatos and the rythmn so I seriously salute this choir for bringing it to such a level of perfection :D
Listening to this choir makes me question the idea that one can strive every year to improve ones choir. There may not always be a level higher to attain. This director has reached near perfection. This piece and Aglepta are two of the best performances of a children's choir the world may ever see. Bravo Maestro!
omg.. your voices are fantastic i can never sing like that.. the sopranos have a very nice tone and their notes are almost pitch perfect i love you guys!! but i think if the choir as a whole could emote more, then you'd be even more amazing =)
your voice is really awesome...the discipline..wow..really good..and in the history of EGP, Ur the ist children's choir to compete among the adult choir. Isnt that a privilege?
Just wonderful, how come they did not win the EGP? I was there with our Hungarian mixed choir, but they clearly diserved the prize. Anyway, just to reflect a little on joilrian's comment, they are not the first childrens choir in EGP, in 2005 our children (CANTEMUS) competed against 4 adult choirs in Tolosa...needless to say without any luck...anyway best wishes to Russian friends!!!
I was there and listened. that is why I mentioned. By the way, they are atameur...not able to tour for 4 month if you know what I mean. But loved your choir too, EGP is not a competition of justification...how can you compare 10-12 y of children to professional adults??
they will win this one soon,,, but not this 2007 edition because obviously the Madz were much better all around, much versatile, the judges the decided and I bet these judges are not run of the mill. And besides the MADZ won this 1997 so that speaks voluminous for their choir prowess... again this is not to take away from these Russian kids, they were just outperformed, peace

The composer is Efrem Podgaits (Russia). I can search for mp3s.

By the way Podgaits, his Ave Maria is among the most beautiful choral pieces.
And worthwhile to know, that Vesna Children's Choir has nice presentations from Arhangelsky, Chesnokov, Bortnyansky.

MADZ are much better, and they're in a different level from this choir
but somehow i can't imagine a children choir can sing this good
i mean, they are children, right ?
i think that's why many competitions put some categories differed by ages, since the musical maturity in each class would be different

Watch the performance of The Philippine Madrigal Singers during the EGP then you'll know the answer.

CantemusHungary, "but they clearly diserved the prize"... i disagree... listen to Philippine Madrigal Singers

i did hear many times and agreed why phils won the competition, probably with many scores above vesna's
but i agree with CantemusHungary if he says that this competition is not for a justification
and yes, we cannot really compare those childrens to those adults
even in many competitions, the judges are usually different because the art of children choir and mixed choir is just different in some ways

vesna competed in 2007 and won the competition, right?
this competition is crazy -.-'
