  • they dont seem very in to the music...

    Their sound is nice though

  • Sincerely,

See the young people playng this musics is very, very good.

They have trained to play an it takes hours, days, weeks, personal efforts, dedication.

    Greetings for you!

  • I kinda like this with swung eighth notes...good job guys.

  • The Staccatos in the Bari Are Disgusting Lol

  • the bari sax player has a really good, fat sound. you can never have too much bari sax. :D

  • Miss you guys! ~ Mrs. Carter

  • Also, about the sound issues, that is simply because the camera was stationed very close to the bari, and the first alto was a bit hard to hear because of that. From the middle of the ensemble, the sound was well balanced; that was our ensemble's strong point, we played well together.

  • This is a response to most comments. Most of you who are knowledgeable in music, and especially rag time know that it is not supposed to be swung. This arrangement was prepared by us (the students) with no outside help, and we didnt know anything about rag time. I do thank you all for the comments, because later that year we preformed this chart again (properly) and got a great response.

  • I'm sure they met to indicate music that was /popular/ in the 1920's.

  • not bad , i dont know if the electronics were to blame, but the first alt should play it louder ^^ :D good though , a bit more life into it and it would be perfect xD :P

  • very very good... son..congratulations...

  • I like the arrangement. Good inspiration for a new alto sax player.

  • great interpretation! It reminds me of The Little Rascals. :)

  • Mistake filled. I played this senior year in high school for a ensemble and it's the same arrangement. Good sound though otherwise.

  • dude i play the tenor. nice its silver!!!! my tenor sax though is blue.... haha

  • I liked this! Nice phrasing! I liked the bari player's tone very much. Good ensemble feel. No need to nitpick on mistakes, etc. Things like poise and confidence come with time. If you can phrase that well and have so many nice ensemble moments, you are well on your way. Well done.

  • Great job beri sax to step up and have a solo but either you should practice more or stop being nervous dude

  • the bari's staccato sounds TOO punchy if u ask me, otherwise amazing guys

  • Lots of mistakes wer heard by me and others. The barri player sounds nervous as if this is a sight reading. The barri also could have played proudly at those soloish times, just sounds like your scared. Barris dont get lots of solos. Also i wen the alto should be able to be heard. its the lead part. Good song. Campable people. Maybe its the mic cause this is all sound problems.

  • Nice job guys!

  • The baritone saxophone sounds nice.

  • Awesome¡¡

  • I don't care what everyone else says...you kids did GREAT! keep it up.

  • We did this quartet for our state solo ensemble, and suprisingly got a 1, even though our Bari player sucked it up that day... lol. I played the tenor part, and when it comes to the solo part... Worry more about playing the notes on the page right, not getting the fancy bends.

  • @007grog3 I think the notes on the page are relevant, but I strongly believe in adding one's own preferences to the music

  • Yes Yes Thank You so much! This is exactly the kind of instrument sound I was looking for to make a vaudeville sounding song! Great work.

  • your lead alto play needs to play out more

  • wow it was ok and im only 13 me and my friends played it at solo and ensomble and got a 1 we are better not even kidding

  • OH MY GoSh!! THE EIGHTH NOTES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SWUNG !!!! IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT RAGTIME YOU'D kNOW THAT!!!

  • @jfidajoiiejrjj they're not supposed to be swung...

  • @calvinshirey have you ever heard Jelly Roll Morton play this?

  • Nice job guys :P I like it! Rags are so funny to play in saxophone quartet :)

  • Like everyone said, don't swing the eighth notes. Other than that, not bad.

  • @JShawtyKim true but i like the customized jazz effect the swing has. if they werent trying to have an exact replica version, i like the swing.

  • don't swing the eight notes!

  • nothin u can do about it now...

  • Arrangiamento molto originale, forse un pò troppo... perde un pò di Joplin ... comunque bravi !!!

  • Nice job!

  • Bari sax needs to hold the notes longer.. they aren't sticato, and at measure 85 remember there arent an grace notes for a reason so dont add them

    And overall Too Fast!

  • you guys sound really good as a group, and you play in tune, but the style is completely wrong. Everything should be very short and played straight.

Oh, and Maple Leaf Rag was written in the 1890's

  • 1920s? But maple leaf rag was written in the 1890s..

  • @Stevenup7004 Actually It Was Written In 1901...LOL

  • @MzGetinaBack Nope, copyright registered in September 1899, written around 1897

  • @Stevenup7004 It was, but this is a jazz interpretation, and this falls more under the jazz area than rag time to the instructor.

  • NO SWINGING THE EIGHTH NOTES

  • Too much staccato. You guys have some good potential, but when I played this back in my highschool quartet we interpreted a lot of it differently. The bari was rushing a bit :/ Once you guys work it out together as one and do a bit more legato tounging, you'll be aight.

  • wow were like almost as good ane were in 7th grade if u want to see it we will paste it on youtube on the channel eggmanilla so go to it soon and were doing it for solo and ensomble

  • I played this last year for our State Solo/Ensemble. I must say.. i think we were better. These guys are not bad. Dont get me wrong! I just dont like that hard of accents. It needs them. Just.. not that hard. But.. otherwise very impressive!! Good Job Guys! Keep rocking those saxs!!

  • O yeah ! That's good, but you can do better if you live that music, but i have to admit you're good, very good

  • i do believe the concert mouthpiece should have been used in this setting on the bari... other than that its not bad... we do need to play it straight tho..

  • i'm not feeling the swing for the 20's tune... cool twist, but it sounds better without the hard accents.

  • just great!

    love form Denmark

  • This piece should be played with an even 8th note feel. Tone quality is quite nice, and intonation doesn't present a problem. The main concerns, as a band director, are the fundamental rhythmic base...and excessive scoops.

  • Go Kersh~! XD

  • i play bari sax in a sax quartet and that songs really hard

  • not really.

    it's more fun than hard.

  • Great tone quality!! honestly,, you guys are way better than some of our orchestra players..haha

  • Yeah, their playing is great, but I'm not too impressed with that specific arrangement. Whoever made it could have done a little better.

  • That Bari Sax is awesome! Great tone.

Nice arrangement as well. Well done guys! :D
