  • I hated this song as a kid growing up but love looking back at it now...

  • NZOZ has god like qualities for finding great songs.. If you Tube had a Hall of Fame it would named after him/her

  • I've read Miss Amphlett's Autobiography, apparently she was banned from her hometown of Geelong as a late teen-early twenty something for being too rebellious! lol

  • Sydney Town Hall clock (must've been shot from on top of the Woolworths Metro building), the Sharpie's Golf House sign (long since removed), the red neon arrows of the Hoyts cinema (demolished/refurbished in the 90s), Martin Place railway station escalators. Just those few simple images are enough to evoke many memories of my childhood growing up there during that time.

  • @darxtar409er I used to be hypnotized by the golf ball at the golf house

landing a hole in one over and over!! Memories that makes me feel blessed I live in

    our beautiful city of Sydney!!

  • Chrissie, you know how to get to the boys. Your voice, your gestures...Yes please!

  • Those people at 3:21 look really happy, happy, happy, happy... I hope they're still alive and are living 'good' lives.

  • Like Men at work...

  • Australia has some of best bands in the world and i have seen most of them rock on oz .

  • I wish the chorus went on for like 10 minutes!

  • Still struggle to get past this band for how underrated they really were... What an era..

did they have *any* bad songs...

I mean go listen - really listen to their song Elsie..

  • they certainly belted out a truckload of hits in the 80's

  • Why can't you get this song on I Tunes?

  • F'ya Rimm's Ya' half-sight.. Non: ..

  • 'this is i'm too, right said fred's sexys of Trace, or somthing we could do, or himm's like that, gracing:

  • this is an awesome 80's aussie rock song

  • damn best!

  • ... Darlinghurst 1984! The most Australian Band you can get - ACE! Best song in the world... Sydney when it was still cool! Divinyls will always be the coolest, timeless classic eighties gig scene in the world. With love and thanks. Grace!

  • At the very end (at 3:14) the festivities party seems to be Mentals As Anything people. See Nzoz's Mentals "Brain".

Besides, this song and this video has a special meaning for me. I came across it only early this year, shortly after my dad had passed away, so this song will always be dedicated to my dad when I listen to it and watch this special video.

  • imagine if pink floyd sang this song

  • rage rage ra ra rage comes into my head everytime i see that logo.

  • I clicked on in memory of Knut the polar bear who died this morning. Now I see in Google street view they've taken away the Golf House neon sign despite, i believe, having a heritage listing. So now I'm double-sad. Sucks to be me :)

  • Aah Chrissie - God love ya !!!

  • Love the band, Love the music, I also like that Mark has on a Confederate States of America uniform on. Did he pick it up on a tour of the southern states? Rebels for the Divinyls!

  • Pop Perfection ! Along with Only Lonely - 2 of my favourite songs.

  • Check out 1:28 to about 1:30, if that's not the face of an angel I don't know what is. Love you Chrissy!!

  • While I think Chrissy was and is sexy, this was not one of her best. OK maybe I'm just spoiled . What could compare with " All the Boys in Town " ?

  • Me encanta! La amo!

  • After listenin to this again the other week, I hadda buy a few Divinyls DVD's off Poobay....

  • Wow, wow , wow. Again Wow.

How good is she hey !! - oh sorry, forgot the band, lol.

    Great band.

    Get well soon Chrissy. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • Another Divinyls song that should be played flat out!!!!

    Great work NZ...

NZOZ for Entertainment Minister in the Government!

  • 6 people have sperm in their ears

  • The best singer to ever come out of Geelong! Sorry Dennis Walters.

  • What a mastery of brilliant melody in the vocals ! this is genius !

  • I love you, so much, Chrissy.

  • First time hearing this song. It is Awesome! Catchy. It seems that a lot of bands from the 80's had a "deep" theme like this. I think it is more "artistic" than something done with computer animation as with today. I love it.

  • My best wishes to Chrissie Amphlett, I hope she gets better and recovers very soon, she's too cool an Aussie icon to lose

  • NZOZ, thanks for all the AWESOME Aussie music you have loaded up on the Tube. Living in the States, I never get to hear any of this great stuff anymore, except for what I have on my iPod!! It's an awful shame a lot of Aussie music never made it over here, the Yanks really have been ripped off of listening to some truly great music, a true shame. Really appreciate your great taste in music too, thanks!!

  • 6 people died young

  • one of my favourite songs !!

  • What a great Aussie Band,,,,

  • even after 30 odd yrs when the solo comes in still makes the hairs come up on the back of my neck...great stuff

    Leslie

  • I just think her voice and music was brilliant - remember having the tape version of their album when they came to notice in UK with I touch Myself- excellent

  • At first I was scared the plane would hit the building....shows what an innocent time it was pre -9-11, huh?

  • I know were in a somewhat 80's revival and lots of people want the 80s back - but we could never do it as good as it was done back then.

Im just glad we have stuff like this to remember it by.

  • I love her eyes and her look. I think i'm in love!

  • 0:42 to 1:02 chills me every time! Awesome band! Handsome woman! Perfect sound!

  • Shot around Central in 1984. Sharpie's Golf House.. etc

  • To take TAROT to this(found @ random, may signify coming to pass)Good fate for wise.poor fate for fresh faces/the fool.Suffering/death of multitudes in the past due to superficial predictions/warning of a false hand @ work.

  • Haven't heard this stufffor many years and I am so blown away by the writing: what a chorous, awsome. I feel much better about who I am.

  • Great music is still great music even if it is old. Thanks to youtube I can watch this anytime I want. I still love Mark's Confederate uniform, and Chrissy good looks.

  • Love this song was it a B side? Chrissy looks so cute in her cape xD, i had no idea about this band until i searched for touch myself (knew the song but never knew abt the singer and i couldnt believe seductive she was) now im listening to everything they did, i cant take my eyes of her such a great performer! h8 it when i see the tag one- hit wonders , ignorant marketing sluts

    Midnight Oil

    INXS

Crowded House (or were they Kiwis?)

  • one kiwi, two aussies

    later two kiwis, two aussies

and later it was one kiwi, two aussies, one american and ugh.. i think there was a fourth one too.

    I'm speaking Crowded House...

My nzoz channels will expand your list of Aussie bands and hopefully, expand the minds of those who venture through my year by year channels.

  • Yes,Kiwi's ut hey needed Oz to kick start them....

  • @degree7 also

    The Angels, AC/DC , Chisel

    Radio Birdman ;)

  • @porterhouse56

I'm more of a fan of Alternative Aussie bands, not hard rock like acdc (blech!)

  • @degree7 dont forget ACDC!!!!

  • @degree7 "all" the great bands... how'd you forget AC/DC!?

  • @S0lidShade

ACDC aren't alternative. And they're kind of overrated.

  • @degree7 Go-Betweens!

  • @degree7 how can you forget The Church?

  • @degree7 Don't forget The Church, Nick Cave&the Bad Seeds, and Icehouse!

  • @degree7 Crowded House is made of Kiwi members, but the band was founded in Austrailia

  • @degree7 don't forget the hunters and painters and dockers ,the saints

  • @degree7 wasnt AC/DC an Aussie band

  • @degree7 i hate jews. Love this song.

  • @degree7 how could you miss ac/dc

  • @degree7 The Finn brothers, Crowded House, were Kiwis, the rest were Aussies.

  • This song takes me back. A different time, a different place and a sweet young girl teaching me a few lessons about life.

  • Rock On Chrissy!

  • One of my favourite Chrissie song's !

  • Is the band's name pronounced

    Di-vi-nils

    or

    Di-v(EYE)-nils?

  • Di-v(EYE)-nils

  • I repeat Now Act your age.

  • Now I know I'm right Thx 4 giving me the reason.

  • so childish! Now act your age!(Like Chrissy would say)

  • so funny! I'd love to ask her a lot of things. Can I ask you something? Why leave this comments? Don't waste your time... s'il vous plait!

  • I'm trying to analize the lyrics and I think it's about a girl who was sexually abused and I belive this girl is Chrissie. Was Chrissie abused when she was a child?

  • In her biography, she speaks about her father being an intense and aggressive person and says that many of her angry facial expressions that are seen in her video-clips and live photos, are of her impersonating her father.

  • Great song, great band. Underrated? I live in Argentina(!) and I know all Divinyls' albums.

  • Me too I live in Argentina and I know all the songs. Re q t tendria q haber contestado en español xD. Saludos

  • So talented, so hot, so sexy, so underrated.

  • I never knew why but when I first saw this videoclip I didn't think it was divinyls' maybe because of Chrissie's hair....

  • Yeah, those were the days, pre ridiculous security, kids being checked with metal detectors & sniffer doggies! I remember seeing Iggy Pop at 13 at the Tivoli (scary!!) & the Divinyls at the Hordern "3 bands for 3 bucks" gigs at around the same age.

  • flashback: scaling the wall of the beer garden of The Royal Antler Hotel in Dee Why to see them live when I was 13

  • sounds like a cult riff, awesome singer, amazing band , underrated, undersold.

  • She is so good live up close such an entertainer ...

  • This is my favourite Divinyls song.

So under rated.Chrissie is really fucking hot

  • great australian rock band.

just looked on big pond music for this track and couldnt find it,so annoying!

  • Love this song (& Divinyls). Don't know how many times I saw them live in Sydney back in the '80s. Chrissy was (& is) amazing. Such a powerful voice, so gorgeous & feisty. She & Mark lived in Manly when I lived there; they cruised around in a big black hearse. One time they walked into the bank in their full rock star regalia, & everyone in the place stopped in their tracks, spellbound. Talk about presence! Great to see all these old vids again. Amazing live music scene we had back then

  • God i LOVE this song!!!!

    thanks for posting the video

  • I heard/saw DIVINYLS in 1984 with my mum at

the venue at Bondi Beach. They were awesome, what a

treat to hear them live and at their very best!

  • Anthem. The Good Die Young. "WHY"?

The people in power want to get rid of the young males so they have all the females to themselves.

WHY? Do you need to ask?

  • I miss these guys too....had the biggest crush on Chrissie.... x

  • We all did mate ! Still do.

  • She's an icon of Aussie music to say the least. Even when she goes, she'll still be here.

  • and we still do!

  • This band could do no wrong in the 80's in Sydney. We loved them.

  • ah i miss this band! i looked it up cause the silversun pickup singer (yah, i know it's a guy) sounds sorta like this and i was trying to show my kid how similar the singers sound.

  • You Australians sure have a lot of great bands that have come along throughout the years!!! Divinyls were and still are excellent!!! One of my favorite bands still after 27 years!!! I loved this song and Christina's distinctive vocal style as well as her sexy sinister looks! Mark's guitar was great on this and the bass hook is great. Such a shame she was diagnosed with MS a while back. My prayers are with her. I just wished that the last couple albums would have been released in the U.S.! Darn!!

  • You got taste ....... We had some really great rock bands in the 80's.... anything you need to know..just ask!!! There guys were massive here...

  • agree

  • rage is still kickin all nite friday and saturday nights, and saturday nites is usually a guest programmer ....... mcentee lives here .... with all us sandgropers in the best city in this country of ours ......PERTH! .... "WHEELS AND DOLL BABY"

  • who cares i still loe her .where would we be with out Her

  • great songs ..does any body have any dee minor and the dischords songs ...could only find them on an after dark tv show ..love to find some song clips...

  • Nice, thanks. I always like the whole bands sound. I never got to see them but had all the "records." Everybody knew of them. When "I touch myself" came out some of my friends were like I like this song and that is that band you always liked. I live in Jacksonville Florida, which has always been a big AC/DC fan town. I have been to Perth Australia and thought about moving to Perth. I'd rather say and fight all the problems the "red" states have than run. I hope to revisit Perth 1 day. DIXIE!

  • Rage must be some Ausie station. Still like the Confederate Uniform, and Christines looks.

  • I love her outfit :)

I was born in 84 too.

  • great song, fantastic opening riff

  • Has Christina Amphelett ever taken drugs?

  • Why dont you read her book?

  • How can I ask her? Have you got her e- mail adress? If you are so kind Could you give it to me?

  • I do not know Chrissie Amphlette. I do know a girl whose home was broken into by one of the members of the Divinyls due to a desperate herion fix. That's as close to a personal Divinyls association that I can claim.

  • Why all the annoying questions?

    *rolls her eyes*

  • As long as my questions are annoying. Why do you waste time of your life answering them?

I am always asking questions because I don't know anything about her. Here in Argentina is UNKNOWN so The only way I have to know about her is by asking here.

  • Hey, I just remembered another Divinyls story. You might be a little young to hear this, but you have to exposed to this dirty seedy world some day, so here it goes.

My dad and his mate were watching the Divinyls live back in 1982. My dad's mate told my dad that at the end of the night he was going to score with Chrissie Amphlette. At the end of the gig, my dad's mate disappeared, so my dad proceeded to piss off to another pub, where he met an older female.

  • My dad left the pub and went back to the older female's unit and slept with her. The next morning, my dad's mate shows up and demands to know why my dad is sleeping with his mother!

He just came back from Chrissie's place.

My dad had no idea the older woman was his mate's mother... ouch!

  • Now that is a great story!

  • lol, my dad isn't particularly proud of that story... but yes, it is a great story! :-D

  • Which is chrissie's true hair color?

  • Looking at childhood and teen pictures of her, I'd say her natural colour might have been a light brown, perhaps dark-blonde colour. I don't know if the auburn colour is her natural colour. However, she seems to have been displaying an auburn colour during the past 30 years, so maybe that is her natural colour.

    Next step... ask Chrissie.

  • Why all chrissie videos from the 80's has the word "Rage" at the beggining?

  • Well... Rage is an Australian music program and probably one of the best in the world, as far as diversity of content is concerned.

Rage had a Divinyls special back in 1991 and I just so happened to have recorded that particularly show that night in 1991 and have kept the tape since. The video you are watching with the 'rage' logo was from that particular night. That's why most of my Divinyls uploads have the 'rage' logo.

  • thnk u 4 ur uploads the Divinyls are my fav.Band

  • Another great band to come from a special time and City

  • Chrissy - the hottest performer EVER!

  • The Divinyls were the epitome of Sydney rock 'n' roll in the 1980's. Such a great Sydney band. I have fond memories of seeing them live in their prime at places like The Chevron in the Cross, the Tivoli, Cronulla Workers, Cbah Inn etc. This is one band that Melbourne can't freeload on.

  • Melbourne can claim Chrissie - who is, a Melbourne girl.

  • Yes, but the band was quintessentially Sydney with it's brash, glamourous, rocky sound and the band itself was based in Sydney for much of it's life. Plus Chrissie had lots of family in Sydney.

  • I didn't deny the band being from Sydney.. I'm a Sydney sider myself.

  • no shes from geelong not melbourne

  • I love the Divinyls but Mark has a Confederate States of America uniform on. I have the Australian rebel flag at home that I got from a trip to Australia, its blue with a white latin cross and 5 white stars.

  • Going home from school from Town Hall to Carlingford back in the 80's after night practises i always sat on the train on the left to see it.

  • 2:28 Catching a train from Central station to Town Hall you used to see 'The Golf House' lights desplay . It was pulled down a few years ago.

  • She is gorgeous ! Such a true artist and an amazing female voice in Australian rock. She should be higher on the pedistal of women in rock. Divinyl's are truly one of the best rock bands to come out of Australia. She puts a lot of female rock artists to shame in todays music. You rock Chrissy !

  • Nice cape too. Capril lives.

  • Yea, I noticed that too. We are so scarred from 9/11 I think we will always notice things like that.

  • Analysis is paralysis

  • lol

    oh dear!

  • Mark has on a Confederate States of America uniform on. I am the biggest Divinyls fan in the former Confederate States of America and the decedent of many Confederate soldiers so that is extra cool.

  • My absolute FAVOURITE track by Divinyls. Perfect intro and such strong melody, chord changes and energy. And I love the video, legendary!... Such a perfect example of an amazing 80's structured track yet so simple.

  • mine too!

  • How good. ....is this girl.

  • Why cant we have music like this now.All the music around now is shit with no meaning.Grew up with this band, watching at my local pub, as well as spy vs spy, machinations, midnight oil, radiators, hoodoo gurus. If your not Ozzy, these are great bands and still going, well most any way, cheers ps Chrissy is still hhhhooootttt.

  • Australias best !

  • I was also in love with her when I was a young sprat that's for sure.

  • Funny!

  • Totally agree...one of their best songs...I never tire of this one and Marks guitar solo is genius!

  • Mark IS a genius!

I love this band! Iconic and trancendental at the sametime!

  • Best D song I think ever.......brings back memories

  • Damn Chrissie is the hottest female singer ever!!!!! I've loved this woman for well over 25 years!!!! The great music just makes it all that much sweeter!!!

  • i love this song

  • Any of you guys that like this, there is a new single 'Dont wanna do this' (Australia)out soon and a new album due in 2008. Fucking rock on!

  • Great clip,

chrissy Amphlett, was so cool back then.

    thanks for sharing.

  • Oh yes, I see what you're saying.

    It's only a typing error.

  • Please elaborate because Mooneepondskid and I have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Billy Joel?...where the hell does his name appear in this video? LOL.
