  • I always wonder how I end up watching these videos.

  • @aargreendaybillie Um.. it's because you are child of the universe and you simply MUST see EVERYTHING!!! or, I just can't answer your question.. but thanks for watching just the same!

  • i dont think emus are meant for snow mate.... they come from a hot desert....

  • @spoonlove22 Emus are highly versatile and do put on a heavy layer of fat on their bodies when colder weather comes along... they show no hesitation to walk into snow... they show much more stress from the summer heat. Here in the United States, there is a very large Emu Farm in the upper peninsula of Michigan which is much colder than where these are kept. Thank you for your comment... many deserts fall well below freezing at night, they just don't see snow.

  • It is illegal to domesticate them from a wild flock, but it is legal to obtain them from breeders in the U.S. and they fall under the control of the Department of Agriculture. Check with the USDA for guidelines. They are farmed for leather, oil and meat. I do not rear them for meat or any other harvesting.

  • yes... check with your local Dept. of Agriculture and they can direct you to the registered flocks in your area... all over the U.S. even in the UP of Michigan.

  • There are many emu breeders on the net.. just do a search for them in your area. As for information, the best resource I've had are the two editions of the Emu Farmer's Handbook... everything you need in two volumes. Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • That was very enjoyable to watch. They really are little dinosaurs. Sorry I have not been around much, but I'm still here.

  • So nice to hear from you Des!!! I was thinking of you recently as I'm dealing with tiny winged critters.. it's an art project though... not a hatching/morphing deal... glad to know you are still "out there" :}

  • Aww, thanks. I'm glad you still think of me. I've thought about you too and I'll send you a PM telling you why.

  • @HTCSWEOD hey great video man what are the benefits of owing these critters on a farm?

  • You should send this to the nature channel...funny how it makes me WANT tall weeds in my yard!

    These birds are gorgeous - WELL DONE, of course!

  • Thanks Suz! I think the nature channel would want them in their native habitat! ("> not Fred's Fine Backyard? I'm so glad you liked it though!

  • Thanks, so glad you enjoyed it!!!

  • That's riiiight, emu farm.
