Worked great. The only "problem" I had was that this made the enter/send button change functions. Instead of it sending texts, it now only moves the cursor down a line ( like FN + enter/send used to). With a screen that becomes randomly near-inoperable, this could turn into a problem.

Followed mostly all instructions and it works flawlessly!

I never got the US Cellular logo. Just Sprint and it still worked.

I'm assuming that was your cell carrier for your phone?

Hey Pat, these instructions worked great! This worked first go around...took about 10-15 minutes like you said. Only tough part was using the track ball on reboot when you have to select boot and install options! Scroll is super-sensitive. Thanks, really really appreciate it now that I'm running FROYO!

I noticed that the Android System Recovery version here is already 3.1.1. However, mine still has Android System Recovery 3.0.8, so i don't have those Advanced Settings and other stuff. How do i get the 3.1.1 version of the Recovery? Seems like i need this if i want to try installing the Basic EB28 or Keylime28, which i tried and it just failed. Also tried installing CM04.zip and inxane-android_bootable_recove­ry, but no luck. I currently have DL05 Beta 5. Thanks!

@cohcam12 this process roots the phone as far as i know.  i downloaded an app (connectbot) a terminal emulator and got the $ linux prompt. i did 'su' to become root and got the #. as far as i know, that means your rooted or u have root access.

thanks dude! i was ready to trash my phone cuz it kept crashing, n too damn slow. but followed ur instructions and viola! i got 2.2 on it. i tried restoring my sms messages but there were too many and it was causing some problem so i just skipped that. they're all stored in my gmail anyways. but other than that, it's awesome. totally beats the stock 1.6. good job creating this video. btw, couldn't get the phone be detected via usb so just put the microSD to a reader and used that instead

@ShadowofFlames u will lose all ur data, except for ur CONTACTS, that is if you have them sync'd to your gmail account. good luck. i lost all my stuff, txt, apps, but contacts are more important so i was ok with it. right now, im trying to upgrade to Beta 6 or EB28 or Keylime28, but everything seems to point to needing this darn Recovery version 3.1.1 which i don't have a clue how to get...

Solution for no USB connectivity. You have to turn off USB debugging which is turned on by default. Under settings go to Applications > Development and uncheck USB Debugging. Your phone will then be detected on your PC.

I never did get the uscellular logo either. However after like over 10 tries I am happy to report it finally updated my phone...I am kinda pround I actually got it. I thought I killed my phone a few times. Ok but just one thing isnt running 2.2 supposed to give us the option to download adobe flash 10.1? Cos I still dont get that option. I have to be honest, I am highly ticked because I upgraded my Moment to this so-called 'basic Froyo' and it is utterly horrible. My phone lagged. None of my programs would come up right away and a lot of apps I previously had wasn't on this upgrade. SDX's website changed and now I can't get my old custom kernel back. Research is something I should've done before I jumped into this.

A follow up, it appeared the usb drivers installed were fine for 2.1, but not 2.2. I downloaded the usb drivers for 2.2 from the samsung web site, and installed them. After doing so, the phone connected to windows no problem. Thanks again!
