The real problem of global warming is to many people are eating gas causing foods. Usually as a single repleacment reaction where one element that is bonded with the carbon, is replaced with oxygen. It takes a certain activation energy for that to happen, but once it does it releases more energy that what is used. Therefore we can have open burning flames that will burn as long as there is enough oxygen and...I dunno..."free" carbon present. It aso matters what form the carbon is. Wood burns better than diamond because the bonds are weaker. But thats something else.
