no punk ever tried to destroy metal those are two completely different movements. metal is north america and Europe punk is from England all the way to Australia
very interesting documentary, although I always feel like the usual explanation for metal's origins, or at least it's fans, is too simplistic. I'm not from a poor background, I don't live in a rough area, I haven't had family problems, I'm not an angsty, angry individual into evil things etc., which are all cited in this documentary. Those things undoubtedly are true for many, but I'm sure there are many metal fans like me and it would be interesting to know why we like it! I don't really know
Metal isn't a fucking fashion statement! Get that out of your head! It's not about being rebellious for the sake of being rebellious, but about loving the music so much you don't care whether people love you for it or hate you for it. It's not about trying to antagonize others with how you look or act, but simply being yourself, doing what you want and having their opinions be irrelevant to you. Give me an amen! Long live metal!
Punk NEVER tried to destroy metal! Punk is metal's cousin. Both genres were born out of the angst of bored and angry urban youth. Almost all of the derivations of extreme metal were influenced by hardcore punk. Speed metal, thrash metal, death metal, first waves of black metal, etc. It's 2011, let's leave the stupid "metal vs. punk" feuds in the 80's where they belong.
For all you kids saying Punk Sucks. You do know Punk inspired some metal bands. One of them been SLAYER, check out their Undisputed Attitude album. Nothing but Punk Covers and some of their own.
I just wanted to say that it made extremely happy to see a playlist for RATM on the suggestions. You know that feeling when you find your all time favourite band, and you just dont really listen to anything else cuz you dont feel the need to?
@iheilner You need metal artists of now too, right? You just need both artists that were incredibly populair back quite some years ago and artists of now. I mean how else would make a documentary about metal without things of the past and of now?
@HerveGamerDude so how is that a fial? if you knew anything about metal you would know that was from a tenacious d song called THE METAL so yea you fail...
@railpressureflip you are retarded i know it because it's called "the metal" lol and if you ever searched "metal" on youtube you would see it is second so yea...

@mlrichardson84 That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Slipknot are disgraceful enough to be called 'music', let alone 'metal'.
railpressureflip 1 month ago
Are you fucking kidding me? You have to be absolutely illiterate to call Slipknot 'Metal'.
