Actually, there are MANY (proven and scientifically based) benefits and health positives for circumcision. Plus, on top of all that, there is nothing grosser than foreskin. yuckh. im just trying to make it known that circumcisions are done caz of profiteering i hope that the word gets spread around enough that it just stops happening unless its done as a bris
at least we have a true trigger for the public option and hopefully some of that stuff will be changed later on and if more illigal abortions happen then it will deff change
i agree just cause hes president doesn't mean i have to like him cause then that would mean i should have followed bush lead and I'm definitely not doing that.
Republicans say "If the Government gets into the health insurance biz, they will control your health and deny you treatments" yet they want the government to outlaw abortion, thus making the government control your body. So its only okay for the Government to drop the ban hammer on issues the GOP wants, even though the people voted them out of power last year.
I just find it funny that the Republicans are supposedly pro-life when it comes to the unborn, but are so against healthcare reform to cover the millions of uninsured and save their lives. I guess if I was a fetus, Id be safe under Republican rule but not if I was aged 1-100.
No, I dont mean from a political stance. I mean the social issue itself, as in the morality of an abortion...Its hard for me to arbitrarily discern what is life and what isnt after conception. Therefore, I feel like life is when the two gametes meet and create a zygote (conception). So what right to people have to take a life? We cant kill our born child, so why can we kill an unborn one? I'm just struggling with these questions. Help me out, CONVINCE ME, because i am a liberal otherwise..
The thing here is distinguishing between an eternal soul and a soul with physical life (human being). From a spiritual perspective free will, is the function of the soul. Our choices are not the chance firings of neurons. However, a nervous system is required for free will to exist. This develops (correct me if i'm wrong) at no earlier than 8 weeks after conception. This is no reason to casually terminate earlier than this, but I think that's more of a "birth control" issue.
I have the same dilemma, Minion. Ultimately I am pro-choice within the first trimester. The primary reason is that it's a life, but it's connected to the woman's body, so she needs to be allowed to decide, right or wrong.
At some point you have to draw the line, and I think society has drawn it at a good point. It's a good compromise and I think it would be best for everyone to leave it and save energy for bigger battles - like poverty and other social issues that contribute to abortion.
im pro choice but abortion isnt a game it has consequences, physical and mental to the women so they need to have proper counceling to make sure THEY are making the choice and are not being talked into something they will regret deeply by other people
i wonder how many of those Dem's who don't want federal money to go to abortions... voted to send troops and bombs and death to Iraq, to Afghanistan to Pakistan?
Every time you masturbate you're destroying life. In fact, every minute that you aren't having sex you are destroying life; about 40,000 sperm cells to be exact. Even, when you are having sex you committed genocide because only one sperm out of 40,000,000 will fertilize and egg. Technically speaking a fetus has as much consciousness as a rock. If the woman does not wish to have it she shouldn't have to. Either way forcing somebody to have an unwanted child won't turn out the bets for the child.
You can get Medicaid if you are pregnant. So live off the state for 9 months than put the kid in a gov run orphanage. Oh for the love of earth if it was that easy to teach these men a lesson.
@Libratarot Im sorry but an orphanage is not a great place for a child. how about raising minimun wage and making housing more affordable so the mother can raise her own child. you think letting an embryo go is harder than sending your infant to orphange?
have you ever been to an orphanage and seen how underfunded most places are especially those orphanages in less fortunate areas in the united states... i suggest that you do, its very eye opening. but to be fair there really isn't a way to make everyone happy over abortion but saying that a woman HAS to give birth to a child conceived out of rape to me demeans the status of women in society
Ok my point was not convied very well @ all, I am sorry. I dropped out of high school to raise my kids and 2 years of college was all I could arrange. I tried the adoption thing and could not get through the interview side of things. But, had I $375 and a car my youngest would not be here. There is no way to convey a persons life experience in a comment box.
I am pro-choice. AND I am a strong believer in birth control and EDUCATION. My life would be so different now at age 38 if I had had access to better knowledge. My children now in their 20's would have had a better life. I did what had to be done, college, $30thou job, home but doing it alone I missed out on raising my children. If I had had children just a couple years later....who knows.....I might have gotten hit by a bus on the way to the hospital in labor - Life is random.
Imam anwar al awlaki is not in hiding. he lives in yemen, he was investigated by US, not charged, was handed over to Yemen, where he was imprisoned, and then released without charge. while we on the left may see the prolife arguments as silly, the fact remains that a signifigant segment of the country are not completely in favor of abortion. perhaps they are pro choice but they still dont want to have to pay for it. nd though a majority are prochoice theres still a large voting block out there that isnt. thus its left right. though irational, prolifers do have votes
@liam679 I am on the left. However, I am prolife and am very rational. I would like this Bill to go forward without the Stupak amendment. I want single payer, myself. By the way, according to most polls, the majority of Americans are prolife to some extent. I have met quite a few pro-life liberals. Having said that, I want healthcare much more than the Stupak amendment.
the majority of Americans are prolife to some extent????????? that also means a majority are pro choice. for me it's about choice and education not lack their of
Well, my friend, that is very much the case. Most people believe that abortion is necessary to some degree, but most people believe that abortion should be restricted. I personally believe that abortion be restricted to the health of the mother, rape, or incest. Having said that, I would gladly join you in asking for the withdrawl of the Stupak Amendment.
I am not sure why you are cursing and screaming at me. I agree with you that Stupak's amendment should be defeated. What part of "Having said that, I would gladly join you in asking for the withdrawl of the Stupak Amendment. " was hard for you to understand? To be as clear as I possibly can be, I am deeply troubled by the Stupak amendment. I thought it was sneaky and intellectually dishonest. Save the disrepectful for enemies. I am not your enemy.
yeah but they do want to pay vast money for criminal banking institutions, crusading unaccountable mercenary armies, spying on their private lifes aso., as said: zero credibility!
i see the benefits of this american idea of having the conversation even if its premises seem absurd, but a society should have at least some basic moral ground work, and the limitless hypocrisy and cynicism the right wing shows in almost every issue should violate any such ground work
I support abortions in the case of rape, incest, threat of the mother's life and in addition to that, advanced knowledge of the child suffering from and extreme and irreversible psychological and/or physical disorder. But all in all, I don't give a rat's ass about the pro-choice agenda. I would've voted present on that amendment. I could care less about choice when it gets in the way a genuine health care reform bill.
i once agreed... for like 3/4 of my years on earth... but after a while... you mean its a woman's choice to have sex (which is meant for reproduction) as much as she wants without consequence?
I'll never picket against abortions, nor would i preach to somebody who wants one. I even had one (not me specifically, an ex) but after giving it some thought i'm reconsidering... like i dont think it should be banned, i'm just questioning the morality of it for the first time...
Eh- I know a lot of people go down that path but, I've never considered a fetus to be a living being. So if one were to "die" I see no moral problem with it. That and it's not always a woman's choice to get pregnant, sometimes you can do everything right and xD it still happens. P: Meh if it gets banned Americans can just run over to border to Canada

Those "Pro-life" Dems actually LIED and voted NO against the larger underlying health bill anyway-so the Dems were MISLED. There was chicanery. The co-host's optimism is indeed not based in reality or fact-based. You guys are trying to have it both ways.
how were screwed? What are you talking about this was a victory...the bill passed. it came at a compromise, but on a different issue, which can be fought basically ad nausem. The important goal (and the one the democrats were focused on) was getting the bill through. Dems mislead? The dem party isnt perfect, we didnt honestly think we'd all agree with everything they sided on. Its an irrelevant topic. The fact of the matter is, we won and got the bill through.
Those Dems said they would only vote for bill if amendment was allowed to be voted on then voting no. They lied. They renegged on their half of that deal. Not hard to grasp. TYT is in denial &unfortunately so are you. This was a payoff of the insurance companies giving them FORCED customers. Everyone being required to get private insurance is not same as everyone having healthcare. That is all sleight of hand.
You won squat at the cost of the reproductive rights/lives of women. Irrelevant topic?
Yep, thanks for pointing this out. This was sold as critical to help the uninsured. Now it's become a way to make sure they are paying their fair share, and penalize them if they don't buy in. Wow, if that isn't conservative philosophy, what is?
What's next? Force the poor to buy into private 401Ks and penalize them if they don't? How about forcing them to buy life insurance so we don't have to care for their children? I mean, they need to pay their fair share, Repub - I mean Democrats, say so.
I have an honest question, no trolling, no flaming just a question. Cominr from SD USA where aborton was illigalized for all situations, would a fair compromise be that abortions or not paid for/done by the government exept incases of rape, incest and the life of the mother? I mean at that point isn't it really survival of the fittest or who came first? Trying to find the middle ground here :)

44:44 length video; if it was April 4th 4444 uploaded at 4:44am and 44.44 seconds, Cenk's baby would be our Atheist saviour.
He and his wife would be 44 on their 4th Anniversary and his wife would have 4 orgasms on her fourth pregnancy and be impregnated with quadruplets. 4 bottles of wine would get them in the mood while 4 condoms would break.
And the maker of those Progressive ads would suffer 4 simultaneously heart-attacks while being beaten by 4 thugs 4 creating those annoying-ass ads.

I like Michael Shure, he challenges Cenk but in a good way. Keeps Cenk sharp.

use mozilla firefox, then add the ad-blocker application. I have no idea what you're talking about -- because I see no ads. :]
