hey bud got a question well really just needing some help i have a hifonics bxi1608d 1600 watts D-class mono amp it comes on but the red protect light comes on and wont go away ive been told ive low voltaged it if so how whould i go about fixing it? plz help thanks alot.
i hooked up a psu to my amp ...it worked perfectly untill i put a bass tester...everything shut down and when i reconnected my amp it turned on for 2 sec and turns off ... the psu also turns off when the amp turns off...i bought two more psu's and it does the same thing i checked the wires,i changed the fuses and nothingg. can you please help
alright. i got an amp that has a very similar problem to this. it turns on, but no output. however, i would like to know where you bought all of your parts? where did u order transistors and the cleaning solutions? i appreciate the help
i have a mtx thunder 600xd thats not giving sound to the subs everything is wired right no flawed wires good sub whats wrong someone please help me and how do i fix it
I've seen your videos and you do great work. I have an amp that i blew. I turned up the gain a little to fast and herd a pop. It went into protect mode for about 5 seconds and then it when green. After the pop i got no sound from my subs, the amp is on and my subs work because i tested them out and they are fine. Could the amp be fixed? I opened the amp and something is blown but i don't know what is called. Can you help to try and fix it myself?
any way of telling me what the gate resistors look like? do these also have a certain resistance value that it can be tested to see if they are bad or not
i have a small rockford fosgate amp that one channel has been shorted out(the guy that had it before me let the positive and negataive touch till it blew the fuse) can this be fixed?
The short circuit protection should have protected the amp from touching the positive and negative speaker terminals together. Since it did not, you can assume that your output transistors will be damaged for that channel and maybe the gate resistors. This is definitely repairable.
This sounds like output transistors that are going bad. They probably are not short circuits yet, but have been damaged due to excessive heat. When the amp engages these transistors they begin to draw excessive current, which trips the short-circuit protection. When the protection removes the power from the transistors, intrinsic capacitance is left across the legs of the transistors. This is discharged through the speakers probably causing the pop. The process then starts all over.
ahhh i had a similaire thought, should be getting my multimeter tomorow will see diffrences in resistance like in your videos even though the transistors may not be short circuits yet

So are the mosfets supposed to touch the metal underneath them or are they supposed to be sepparated?

do you wear a static gaurd when you solder on the boards you really should as fets are very prone to static ..

that could be the car not supplying enough power or your gains are too high
