The hits just keep adding up!

    Comments and subscribers welcome.

  • This was played at the end of 'The Iron Lady'.

  • ohh its supposed to be played fast :S my bad!

  • meh...jk

  • They played this in Private Practice, when Charlotte was raped, it perfected the episode

  • @o0oHOUSEo0o Uuhhh are you saying this is the perfect song for raping?

  • I love how there's so much going on in a Fugue. Its complexity is ear-pleasing.

  • @hdrevolution123 This is not a fugue

  • @hdrevolution123 nevermind, I thought I was just listening to the prelude... very much agree though, and Bach was the best

  • @btown2345 This is both a prelude and a fugue.

  • Desde luego que hay un antes y un despues a esto

  • The Mentalist 1x23...

  • Cool.

I recorded this song too, it's in my channel

Please, thumbs up here! So people can see it!

  • Can anybody tell me if this is copywrited so I can use it as background music?

  • @LewyAlsoDraws nope! it's by J.S. Bach and he's been dead for a while. the music is in the "public domain" meaning no one has any legal claim on it. feel free to use it anywhere for anything!

  • much better on a piano, rather than a harpsichord or a violin. Wasn't intended for it, but it sounds best on piano. I'm sure Bach would have agreed. If only he had the technology.

  • I love how slow he plays the fugue; very refreshing...

  • Brought here by 1Q84.

  • skrillex rocks !

  • @NeonTapeDeck stfu

  • Elton john has copied this ....

  • @topgun4103 Send me the link to the song please

  • I love this piece of music. But I do not enjoy analyzing it harmonically.

  • @SaraIsabelification Why not?! It's SUCH a fun one.

  • Bagdad Café :)

  • This is Red John's song on The Mentalist!!!

  • @ablaisedale I know, and I love it. ^^

  • @annonymousmaniaciii This is the actual song, you better volume down your speakers, cause you will be amazed.

    /watch?v=A72MYw6SiOg&feature=related

  • @annonymousmaniaciii This is not true. The song that has been sent by NASA is a Bulgarian Folk song. It's name is Излел е Дельо Хайдутин and it is performed by a Bulgarian singer called Valya Balkanska. You should double-check when you write such stuff. :)

  • Gives me chills.

  • @lyue1996

hi I play almost next movie speed or more fast please Search next title

Bach, Fugue #1, C Major (Well-Tempered Clavier Book I) once you memorize a score, hands move autmaticaly.

  • naa... better listen to gaga's music. Too much tears with this Bach. :)

  • Comment removed

  • This video shows very well how Bach has to be played: not very importance given to the speed, but a very strict and quite scientific rigour. I suggest to hear it to all young players and to consider it as a manifesto of the good studying of this wonderful musician. Very good the way to bring out the four voices in the fugue.

  • @15p02d93 yes

  • @15p02d93 you are absolutely correct!!

  • wahh i live near villingen.... awesome xD

  • Fuga is very slow. I like faster.

  • @mskw0125 Do you know how hard the fugue is >.>?

  • @lyue1996 Yes, I sure do, I can play a quarter of it now ..

Well ... i know 2 years is very early, but not for me..

  • I like the music of bach

  • How is it possible to dislike this work of art?

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone came here after seeing this piece on the mentalist?

  • @hannahfarish I heard it on The Mentalist, and on Private Practice last year.

  • Thank you so much for recording this beautiful music! Bach surly was a god in the music world.

  • It's so awesome to analize this song in school :D <3

  • Awww, Bach truly was a musical genius.

  • listen to yo yo ma

  • hard but a classic

  • beautiful prelude...

  • @annonymousmaniaciii actually it wasn't ...the piece which was chosen is Prelude no.1 but from WTC II..

  • This song was chosen from a select few to represent the human race when NASA launched a satellite beyond our solar system with this song encrypted into it. Deep.

  • @annonymousmaniaciii they couldn't have mad ea better choice!

  • @annonymousmaniaciii I did not know that...so emotional; what we humans are capable of being. God bless all humans!

  • @annonymousmaniaciii haha dinner music for aliens when they come to eat us! : )

  • @annonymousmaniaciii encoded, not encrypted. It's not concealing information.

  • @wiz126 And other than that this isn't a song, I don't hear any singing.

  • @annonymousmaniaciii Except this is not a song. This is a prelude, and a fugue.

  • @annonymousmaniaciii super deep, never heard that. so cool.

  • @annonymousmaniaciii wow

if bach was alive, he would be proud

  • Comment removed

  • Bravo :)

  • I played this piece as one of two contrasting ones for my piano exam. The music seems so simple, but it's really the emotion and also regularity of the piece that is hard to master.

  • Mastered is such a wrong word. I've played piano for 2 months and I have "mastered" Hungarian Rhapsody 2

  • I like this version, when hearing other people playing they often play it too slow.

  • don´t you think that this prelude and his ave maria sound almost the same

  • @Davida0608 this prelude is the same; Gounod, who composed ave maria, used this prelude to his composition

  • I mastered prelude #1 at the age of 9

  • @SkyHighVB8 And i mastered bach prelude 3 months after playing piano ..

  • @SkyHighVB8 I doubt you can master anything at the age of 9. If you record when playing and send it to some PRO, he would still say; You still have a lot to learn...

  • @SkyHighVB8 LMAO define mastered

  • @SkyHighVB8 fanastic you copyed one song

can you discuss musical theroy and why the hungarian scale is so unique from the rest?

    yeah probably not

  • timeless

  • zzzzzzzzz so relaxing

  • I'm 15 andI've just gotten into classical music. it's absolutely beautiful how the sounds of a piano can make you feel so many different things!

  • Holy SHIT, the fucken fugue blows my mind! :O What a huge masterpiece

  • Holy SHIT, the fuckin fugue blows my mind! :O What a huge masterpiece

  • is this 2/4 or 3/4?

  • @xanafanadu

    2/4 or even 4/4

  • @xanafanadu progressive peice, its 3/4 mostly with bits of 4/4

its actually mostly a waltz if you dont count the 4/4

  • the most relaxing piece to play ever, and that end bit is as satisfying as playing hammer ons on a guitar for a guitarist.

  • This is song is so pretty i play it and i can't stop!

  • i listen to this when im studying...it really helps!! :)

  • @TheMentalistin This is the piece used in one of the episodes of the mentalist, the first minute or so anyway.

  • It sounds like a sweet, sweet dream that I never want to wake up from... ever... zzzzzz....

  • Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C major

  • he makes me proud to be german!

    R.I.P.(L)

  • now the Truth shines on---Matthew Fisher, Repent Walpurgis !!! get in touch if you wish to wander through the garden fence!! (I have intentionally not put forth the name of the group that had this as their 1st album Finale-1967) saltydog321

  • This is the music from a part of "The Mentalist",isn't it?

  • @TheMentalistin not even close. this song its 400 years old... maybe the writers took clips of this beautiful piece and used it, but that is not where it originated..

  • At least the beginning of the piece. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

  • 28 days later beginning song maybe?

  • Love this song. Reminds me of the piece in American Psycho at the beginning.

  • This is the best version I have heard - so many pianists play the prelude too fast.

People today say 'Bach is boring' because they don't know any better. There is nothing more to it than that; if they analysed their music properly compared to Bach then they would soon relaise they had been listening to crap and come round to real composers.

  • Bach should have changed his name to Boast. I think he has room to boast.

  • When I close my eyes while listening to this masterpiece I always relive me walking through Rome - the greatest time of my life ... ...

  • Yep, I knew it. Lady Gaga watched this 13 times.

  • Quite simply, bach got as close to perfection as any of us are ever going to get, in my opinion. This really is beautiful

  • We spent two weeks analyzing the prelude portion in my high school theory class. I was completely enraptured by the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of the work. It sounds like a never-ending melody.

I find it so hard to believe that people say that Bach is boring. How can music so beautiful POSSIBLY bore anyone?

Bach's music isn't just music; it's life. Thank you so much for the high-quality recording!

  • @MysticDestroyer13 some people are just stupid... this is sad..

  • @MysticDestroyer13 where do i find people like you?!?!

did i really take you two weeks? i mean some of the chords are a bit weird to figure out because of the passing tones but other than that the harmonic analysis is cake (unless you're a beginner in harmony)

  • @4hm3dimr4n The main reason why it took so long was because we had not yet learned about function chords and key changes, and also because our instructor would leave the work alone for a few days to focus on ear training and creating our own melodies. The two weeks of time include those days. Once we actually understood function and changing keys, it didn't take that long.

  • @MysticDestroyer13 We could write a manifesto against 'popular' music and expose its harmonic weaknesses.

ALL pop music is based around the chords I, IV, V and VI, to sue their numerical designations. Different keys, but the same four chords. Harmony is not important in pop music. There is no balance, no counterpoint - it's just plain awful. on my channel I've given a fuller explanation of this.

Pop, rock, rap etc is the sort of music Beethoven dismissed as 'cobbler's patch' .

    And so should we.

  • @PhysicalsimForever hear hear

  • @PhysicalsimForever You're an idiot who hasn't the faintest idea what you are talking about. Here's a hint, actually learn about something before you go spouting your useless drivel.

  • @PhysicalsimForever well depends on some rock

heavy metal, black metal, and symphonic are far from the "cobbler's patch"

  • i dont see how its difficult to believe, i mean we live in a time where music is completely disposable and songs are replaced as soon as something else comes out, if it doesnt have catchy overused and simple tunes and has no lyrics about getting drunk, getting dumped or getting drunk because you got dumped then people dont want to kno

  • @mambomeek I guess that satisfies most people, but not me. They can keep their Beyonce and Lady Gaga. I'll stick to Bach, Beethoven, and all the rest.

  • @mambomeek I believe even in those times there were a lot of terrible violin players who created catchy tunes.. but as you can see those haven't lasted throughout the times - only the great stuff does.

  • @MysticDestroyer13

Some people dive in the deepest waters and discover an amazing world down there.

Some people can die drowned in a poodle, ¿How can you expect them to admire the ocean?

  • @MysticDestroyer13 I believe that music especially the best music is a complete product of intuition. Whatever force that compels people to spend time on something like music to try and perfect it in so much as they can is to a great extent involuntary. About people finding music boring the best way to deal with that is to keep listening I think. Music for me is rooted in memory so when I hear music I tend to access my memory, which is visual--a bit odd I think. Music is life I agree, it is mine

  • @MysticDestroyer13

Interesting, you should start listen to dark psy

  • Big tune

  • Simple and beautiful :)

  • This song was created by God, and played by a God.

  • @pdeifik Idolisation much? Enjoy the music without worshipping something, or somone. Please.

  • Comment removed

  • @pdeifik Nope. It was created by a man. Human beings can do astounding, beautiful things; something more people should realize.

  • @wcjones451 Hear hear. :)

  • @wcjones451 when people say that God created it, we aren't trying to discredit the composer at all. we are simply acknowledging the fact that God created Bach's brain through which this music was imagined.

  • @Shanelololol >implying he believes in God.

  • @Shanelololol so we are discreting bach´s mother

  • @vichogran355 discreting? im sorry i know what you're trying to say. Bach's mother did not create Bach or construct his mind personally and plan every corridor of his imagination. she just bore him.

  • @wcjones451 I am guessing you think the egg came first ;)

  • What does BWV 846 mean?

  • @unoriginal345 with this code (BWV) have cataloged all the works of Bach. It stands for "Bach Werke Verzeichnis" and means "directory of the works of Bach".

  • Thank you,

This is a work of Art. It made my day. Keep up the fine work.

I'm sure others will enjoy as much as I did. Doc

note after note, this is genius

  • simply............piano

  • majestic

  • whats with all the shave-headed lesbians in the background?

  • Gounod wrote an Ave Maria with this prelude, adding a voice. That's why you think it sounds like ave maria.

  • im playin this song now!!! O_o

  • beautyfull

  • This piece is soo cool I'm just gonna die ! :O :D

  • This song is nicer when played a little bit faster.

  • I was needing a music piece idea for a short story and at the time the only composer I could think of was Bach. So I asked a friend for ideas and they suggested this piece. I had never heard the fugue part and I got really sad while listening to the piece. Was it the song itself or was it the fact I was writing a sad part? Thanx for posting this song!

  • @hlbananaa I got sad while listening to the fugue too. I think that's the intended effect.

  • @hlbananaa this fugue is weird. when played slowly, its depressing, and speed it up a notch, and its full of life!

  • Piano sux. Harpsichord rules.

  • whats with all the shave headed lesbians in the background?

  • beautiful

  • do you have a link from where I could download the 1ts prelude song???

  • want this in high quality so bad... but cant find it :/

  • Bach's face should be on a dollar bill.

  • @TheLuaron for 1008 dollars?

  • @ThePoliticalMusician over 9000~~~!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheLuaron Ha ha , this comment made my day..!!

  • @TheLuaron Or a Euro...

  • @TheLuaron No, the sheet music for this prelude will suffice ;)

  • @TheLuaron How much? 7? 1000?

  • @TheLuaron

His face should be on an Euro coin!

  • @Tounushi I'll definately agree with you! He should be on all currencies hahahah ^.~

  • @TheLuaron

    I agree!

  • @TheLuaron Bach's face is better not on any of the dollar bills however here goes the thumb up

  • @Contrapunctus1984 Euros then jajaja or some currency

  • @TheLuaron buahahha Americans have got no famous musicans to have on the bills, I mean classical musicians, american heavy metal \m/ kicks ass

  • @kickalion America has Charles Ives, Frank Zappa, Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Samuel Barber, Henry Cowell, Steve Reich, Terry Reilly, John Phillip Sousa, John Cage, Lou Harrison, Harry Partch, Danny Elfman, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim to name a few, and that's limiting it to composers of the 'classical' idiom.

  • @DarkZekeX but no one is famous as beethoven, chopin or mozart

  • @kickalion You do realize that fame is not an indicator of quality, right? Bach himself wasn't particularly famous until near a century after his death. Mahler's work went unappreciated for decades.

  • @DarkZekeX I see that you are brainwashed by masons and judes

  • @kickalion lol I can't tell if it was a lame joke, or if you're just an idiot.

  • @DarkZekeX id take this peace over everything theyve ever written

  • @FukCommando its spelled piece. Also, okay. This is a good piece, but you don't need to take it over others. You can listen to a variety of things.
