@adamgrocco Not only do I prefer this to the original, I thought it WAS the original. I never stumbled over the Dylan version for another couple of years.
I can't believe this hasn't ever been released SOMEWHERE, given all the things Jools has his fingers in.
it really pissed me off when after years, MANY MANY years of waiting for the young ones to be released i bought it to find alot of the music segments gone. and this is the one i wanted most.
@ftwjme It's Simon Brint AKA Ken Bishop, who dies recently. There's a nice tribute video featuring his stuff with Rowland Rivron, AKA Duane Bishop, on youTube.
I was over the moon when this was on the young ones.Love Dylan, Squeeze and the young ones so it's a bit like christmas here today! haha,..."but i only said i was a paccifist".
If you see it on the video, its got the longer part, but i remember seeing it on television and thinking "what? where's the other part??" You're right.
I hate the bbc for their dumb editing on the dvd, it's simply because they refused to pay the copyright for the clip, but look at some of the other clips taken out of things link only fools and horses, bit of fry and laurie, eyc, etc, you would think they had enough money to pay, this was the best scene in the show.
Excellent! Thanks very much for uploading this. I still can't bring myself to chuck out my VHS tape of this because of the incomplete DVD episode. Copyright law, ruining entertainment since 1662...
Neil singing The Sound of Silence in the tub for instance...edited out.
Anyway, what's funny is MTV edited a scene in this episode (Cash) but it's included on the VHS release (!)(?)
Does anyone know the original song playing when Neil "raids" Warlock's party? It's NOT the song in the VHS release...or for that matter, the original party music in the episode Interesting?
the cliff richard song is 'Move It', what Lennon called the first British rock song. but has anyone been able to identify the 'danciing on the ceiling' song?
simon brint and rowland rivron were 'raw sex', the organ/bongos combo from 'french & saunders' sketch show (brint was ken bishop and rivron was his nephew dwayne)
also present on drums is stewart copeland from the police
one guy looks kinda like nick lowe, legendary english 'new wave' musician/songwriter, but i'm not sure if it's him
yes, that is! and chris difford from squeeze, jools holland leading the band, of course...and i recognize some actors from british comedy who's names i can't place.
This is niiiiice :D Thanks for posting this! I never knew there was a missing scene from the Young Ones DVD :O This is actually better than most songs from TYO, love it! :)
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. Now I finally got to see the mission DVD bit from "CASH" Bring all your friends who loves "The Young Ones" and let them see this!!!!!!

I've never seen this! My VHS episodes have this edited out even though "Ken Bishop's Nice Twelve" is in the credits.
Is this clip included on any of the videos or DVDs now?
ShadyDragonfly 2 years ago
Some of the DVDs left the music clips and some don't, they were cut for copyright crap and all that nonsense
RevengeVirus 2 years ago
it's on the newer complete young ones box set with the documentaries and everything else...
tmofee 2 years ago
For contractual reasons, this has been edited out of DVD releases in the past, but has been reinstated for the 25th Anniversary edition.

WHERE CAN I GET THIS SONG!?!?
patthemonkey2 3 years ago
It would be hard to get this version of the song. This band only existed for this episode. Bob Dylan sang the original, but it's not as good as this.

It's a shame that rights fees (or whatever) are keeping the original music off the DVDs.

According to the writers this is fake snow - shot in Bristol, and they "snowed" the wrong house and had to pay compensation.

drh3010 4 years ago
Here's a nowhere near complete list of music from the episodes drh3010 mentioned.
Cash
?- Cliff Richard (Playing on Rik's record player before Viv nabs it for fuel)
Subterranean Homesick Blues - Ken Bishop's Nice Twelve (cruelly cut from the DVD)
Il Duce's Eurovision song
? - Steve Hillage (I don't know the title but Neil says, "Right, Listen... oh, no... Steve Hillage" after hitting the music Centre"
Labruskie 4 years ago
And from Interesting
Down and out tomato song (Not actually the title, just a handy reference)
? - Human League
Cinderella Rockefella - Esther & Abi Ofarim (Instrumental version - As Cinderella turns up.)
? - Rip, Rig and Panic
?-Something to do with Dancing on the ceiling, but not that Lionel Richie tune.
Its my party - Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin
You'll Always Find Me In The Kitchen At Parties - Jona Lewie
Mama told me not to come -- One of any of the many covers.
Labruskie 4 years ago
Thank you!!! It's Electrick Gypsies by Steve Hillage. My 20+ year search is over.
By the way it's "You're My Kind Of Climate" by Rip, Rag and Panic.
