That's the way you see it, while not all whales are in pain before they die. The race is not extinct yet, and they are certainly not killed because 'we feel like it', they are killed because humans make a good living off of it, and it also feeds many more people than a ton of fish. It's the Japanese who overdo the killing of whales.
