Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
It's funny how when I was growing up in the 70's & 80's, we only seemed to have a brief nostalgia for the 50's & the 60's-not that those decades were not memorable because I'm a huge fan of music from those eras, but the fascination was very brief. I remember how I used to tease my parents about growing up then and would always say "But mom, this isn't the 50's you know! ITS THE 80's!!!" Now it's over 20 yrs later and this is the only decade that seems to still stick in everyone's mind.
This song was so far ahead of it's time it's scary... I listen to this today and get a completely different meaning from it beyond that of the musical score.
I was thinking this might be a idea that if we all believe all we are told,That we never question,.Then here is a gun for protection against those that come destroy you for no real reasons, but the gossip.
Is this music video taken from a film? If so, what is the film called and what is it about? If the music video is not from a film, what exactly is the film in the music video about?
Well the 80s were simpler, before computers took over litteraly everything like they did from the mid 90's on. so in a way it was simpler, before all the political correctness gained steam it was the end of the cold war and the threats were very real just as terrorism is now.
depressed child who lost his father possibly by suicide. a man shows up and gives the boy a key (metaphorically an "idea"). In the kid's imagination he can only rationalize his father leaving for something very important like saving the world. the child wants to be with his father and goes to the locked room using the key (idea). Inside he finds the portal to his father(a gun symbolized by the cube). the mother hears a bang and runs upstairs as the child dies from a self inflicted gunshot wound
To clear up the confusion, this is from the little known movie "Choke Canyon". It was released in the UK as "On Dangerous Ground" However, the video contains clips that are not in the movie, so it's a little weird
it WAS the best decade ever. you wore what you wanted and you did what you wanted. seemed that everyone was happier then. and seened that music influenced everything. music was better then too. had more soul. i miss the 80's
I assume you were a kid/teen? Everyone says that about their childhood era. It was simpler and easier because it was your parents who paid the mortgages and Israel attacking or being attacked didn't even register. It's funny when you hear about people who were 8-14 in the early 70's and how much "simpler" and "innocent" things were. No mention of Viet Nam or the Kennedy's or Munich.
Every era is the same. It's all about whether you have a security blanket and someone wiping your tushy.
When I saw this video back in the day, I thought "I wanna see the movie that this is from". I noticed that in brackets after the song title it says "On dangerous ground", so I rented a movie called that thinking it was the right one. I watched it all the way through just waiting for this song. It wasn';t the right film! Hrrmph! I dunno what that movie was about, I didn't take it in because I was just waiting for the music. Haha!
From what I understand this movie was never released in the USA (where I am from) due to the graphic scenes of war between Russia and the USA (dont ask me this is what I read somewhere). I have asked all my Brit friends if the know where to get this. It was called "On Dangerous Ground" I always try to find someone who knows about it as this was the title song. Email Mike Rutherford , maybe he knows.. I have tried
As a previous poster said, think morere "Footfall" by Niven and Pournelle than Red Dawn. I recall one sci-fi book by them or David Drake, where a mercenary officer walked into a town and was cheered and their flag flying everywhere, then a few days later when they were defeated the town welcomed the other side with flying flags and cheers too.
The comment in the song, "Don't believe in church and state and everything they tell you" is so apropo today based on the last 8 years of lies from DC.
ladies and gentlemen we are reaching a time where bad economic standing will lead to war.

Mike Rutherford is from Genesis; Paul Young is from Sad Cafe (Passed away in 2000), & Paul Carrack was with Ace, then Roxy Music, then Squeeze, & even had a few solo hits!
What is this song supposed to be about? When it first came out, as the Cold War was still on, we all thought it was about a "Red Dawn" type of scenario (the Patrick Swayze movie of communist invasion of the US)but this vid makes it look more sci-fi. Any ideas?
I'm in Houston. As best I can tell there are 25000 to 35000 foreign troops at(Ft Hood) in Temple. That all I could glean from phone calls. I saw a ton of Russian chemical trucks it appeared, tanks and other heavy equipment
All Russian, or Ukranian as they speak mostly Russian. This is just one base. There are now over 800 detention camps all across this country. We've had two stolen elections in the US and our reps just gave $5 trillion with interest to FED criminals..Go to infowars(dot)com

Yeah, before I saw the video today I always thought it was like some ppl radeing into the house and the dad stayed there to fight and protect his family, while the mom takes the kids away and hides in the celler. also yea makes me think of Red dawn. Good song anyway! whats the video about btw?
almost prophetic song. I have memories of my dad telling me how much he liked this song when I was the age of the child in this song. Oh the memories.
That Little boy grew up and became Thai Miller. ( likes to call Cali home) He took people for lots of cash after Hurrican Ivan,....that PRICK owes me $10,000. One of these days,......
i am not saying look like a coward and pull out of iraq but the dow has seen the lowest since the 9/11 attacks and i remember when some one told me (he was a retired marine) that dont start a war unless you have the money to keep it going. i think the terrorist acomplished what they set out to do (destroy the american economy).
The song was written for: "Choke Canyon... a 1986 movie starring Stephen Collins as a "cowboy scientist" trying to develop an alternative energy source. It was filmed mostly in the vicinity of Moab, Utah.
The video features clips from the film as well as a seperate visual narrative shot just for the video's release on MTV. good stuff!
I was 8 or 9 when this song came out. I always loved it, but I thought I remembered it being from the movie "Poltergeist". I guess I just remembered watching the video and seeing a child opening a closet with a bright light coming out of it so I thought it was that scene from Poltergeist. Oh well, guess I was wrong. Anyway, great song and vid, a perfect blast from the past. :)
Def a song that can get stuck in your head, even many years later. I was just unpacking and it was in my head, so thanks Childofthe80s for posting it! :O)
I heard this song over a year ago and loved it but did not catch the name and of course never heard it again.I got it in my head the other day I finally was able to type in enough of what I remembered to find it thank god.Now I can get it out of my head by listening to it!
Love Mike & The Mechanics! Checked Wikipedia though, apparently the film from which the clips in the video are from, didn't feature this, or indeed any song from Mike & The Mechanics!
The very short clips at 1:58 and 4:10 are from the film On Dangerous Ground - which seems impossible to find anywhere! The name of the boy in this video (who only seems to have one expression!) is Tiache Christian.
how many people believe that there will be a nau or north american union. if that ever happens let us hope that there are people who can stop it in its tracks. me personaly think it is all bs but you never know what can happen in the next year or so. so as a final thought lets us keep the freedoms that the usa use too stand for and fight for it.

Don't believe the church and state means think for yourself as they will use you as their pawns.
Swear allegiance to their flag means keep your head down and use citizenship to your advantage. Eg. education, military training.
Freedom is not something you can take for granted. Eg. Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Bin Laden...
The video just scifi.

I always thought The Sun Always Shines On T.V. should've been the favorite single. Better hook than Take on me. heh heh

i am not saying look like a coward and pull out of iraq but the dow has seen the lowest since the 9/11 attacks and i remember when some one told me (he was a retired marine) that dont start a war unless you have the money to keep it going. i think the terrorist acomplished what they set out to do (destroy the american economy).

nice song..isn t the soundtrack from rolamd emmeichs film "joey"

Love Mike & The Mechanics! Checked Wikipedia though, apparently the film from which the clips in the video are from, didn't feature this, or indeed any song from Mike & The Mechanics!
BikerBonno 3 years ago 2
BTW the film's posted on here

The very short clips at 1:58 and 4:10 are from the film On Dangerous Ground - which seems impossible to find anywhere! The name of the boy in this video (who only seems to have one expression!) is Tiache Christian.

how many people believe that there will be a nau or north american union. if that ever happens let us hope that there are people who can stop it in its tracks. me personaly think it is all bs but you never know what can happen in the next year or so. so as a final thought lets us keep the freedoms that the usa use too stand for and fight for it.
