"Four Strong Winds" was also released as a single in the U.S., on Vanguard VRS-35021, b/w "C.C. Rider" (which may've been a different take from the one on their 1962 debut LP); the Canadian issue mirrored the U.S., except lack of publishing info. The presence of RCA custom matrix numbers (with "P4KM" prefix) was a giveaway. "You Were On My Mind" and "Some Day Soon" were VRS-35025, matrix numbers (P4KM-4463/4464) assigned late 1963, prior to "Northern Journey's" release.
I grew up on Ian & Sylvia as a young girl in Downstate Illinois. My mom would play their albums all afternoon when she would do housework while I did my homework. Great memories! Thanks for posting this!
Oh my gosh--this is a different take from what was on the second LP, isn't it? I love this (I love the original, too). Was this ever put on an album? the "Best" perhaps? The other two are the same as the album I think.
@davidlenander I just got their Vanguard Best LP and it's the LP version. I think I recall their 2-LP Greatest also had that version. It's a big bummer. Did Vanguard know what they were doing?
@GSMusicMoments I'll bet that Vanguard forgot that they had this in their vaults. Otherwise, it would've been a natural to put on the complete studio recordings record, when they couldn't find much else new. I don't suppose they're likey to release much more, but you might write/email them and point this out. Of course YOU have the recording, for the rest of us it would be nice, though. Tell 'em the numbers on the single and that it was a Canadian release.

@davidlenander I don't know about the Best LP. I just learned this when found this single lately.
