I remember the game back in Madrid. It was my 1st year in High School and I've never seen so many drunk English supporters all around my school having a bath in a fountain. At the end I was happy because it was the greatest Amacio's match and Real Madrid won 5-1. I was 14!
I was at this game, I still have my Rams newspaper (programme) together with all the Derby team autographs from the game. Frannie Lee was my hero, the best diver in the business and had a good right hook (ask bite yer legs Hunter). Forget this notion that the foreigners brought diving to the premiership.....they learnt from the master who will always have Man City closest to his heart.
He's fat and bald and scores a goal.....Fanny..... fanny,
Its always been great for any team playing at Home!
Here 2 Penalties and very debatable if the Referee woulf have been brave enough to give ONE of them in The Bernabeu, especially with all the Real players jostling him ! Great Derby side but Real scored a perfectly good goal that, as usual, away you do NOT get the "benefit of the doubt"..

Wow! Derby County was pretty good back in the '70's.
Derby has more tradition than I thought.
What has gone wrong for Derby? They were good in the '70's and have slipped badly.
Derby need to have a wealthy guy, like Chelsea's Abramovich, buy into the team. Then Derby can start signing some world class players. They aren't as bad off as teams like Leicester, Southampton, and Leeds United.
Derby can have scouts assigned to Africa and South America. That would be a great start to them acquiring better talent.
Between Africa and South America if Derby can discover great young talent there before bigger clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United, it would be a big plus for them
There's top talent in South America's Copa Libertadores Champions League that Derby could go after. Derby can promise South American players they would start most every game
But you can't buy class. Remind me, which league is more corrupt, the Italian or the Spainish? I'm certain most of Real Madrid's success has come from cheating and bribery.
And you write English very well for a Spainiard, it has to be said..from what part of Madrid are you from?
Maybe you can hold an argument together if your club could actually play football..
Meanwhile we are about to win our 31st liga title, back to back. If you actually paid attention to the league, you would see this was done through brilliance, unlike derby.
WE are the team being corrupted against you jealous cunt.
Dude!! are you English? if so, how many times have you been to the Bernabeu?
Derby may not be on top of the world, but it's a well known fact our fans are the best in England..you'd have to be with what we put up with. But at leat we're not glory hunters.
and I am in fact Spanish, I teach it as a foreign language in your country. For your information I am a season ticket holder and I fly back every weekend I possibly can to see my family and watch.
So if derby ever turned around their crapness and won the league, you are not a glory supporter?
I had a choice whether to support Atletico or Real....hmmmmm a hard decision. I may want to cheer a victory now and then....
you are a dumbass... a complete dumbass... glory supporting retard... we have the best fans in england,.... which is the BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD... retard or how many foreign teams are in the champions league final??:S

It was no fluke; Nish, McFarland, Hector and Rioch would have been good enough for most Real Madrid sides. George and Gemmill not far behind. I was/am a Leeds fan as well. Always liked Barry Davies as commentator (and Gerald Sinstadt)
Was expecting a great performance but looks like a fluke in truth. Two pens one shocking goalkeeping error and a disallowed Real goal about 3 feet onside. Great goal by George to kick things off mind.
and yet UEFA did not suspend Real Madrid for like 5 years from European competition... do you have a tape of the ref admitting so, or is this one of those myth-making excuses?
yes, but some of these individuals admit these half-truths, stories that appeal to the TV networks very much who in many an occasion have put money down for a cheap lie... the more controversy, the more coverage, the higher the ratings... and by the way, just by looking at the 1st leg of the Derby vs Real contest, don't you think disallowing Pirri's perfectly legal goal - that would have tied the contest - does not invite the argument that perhaps that game was also rigged at Real's expense?

You mean you actually had a sniff of europe, had it snatched away from under your noses, then have to watch your beloved manager take your hated rivals to europe and win the cup with them TWICE?
Yes thats correct....Derby County. Latest news...Leeds have been deducted 15 points from the start of the new season. They could be no more this time next year...we hope.
vntr2006, you smoke?? This video is yours and you didnt see it?? Two "incredibles" penaltis for Derby, and a Pirri's goal injustly canceled 5:56...the ref bribed?? Yes, maybe in this match.
Frannie Lee was suspended due to the bust-up with Norman Hunter...distrupted the team...also had loads of injuries. Apparantly the ref admitted he was bribed for the 2nd leg.
well, the first leg did not look too genuine to me, pal... two dubious penalties and a perfectly legal goal by Pirri that got mercilessly disallowed by a highly incompetent ref...
Bad board descisions....made Clougie leave and MacKay got the sack the season after the one the clip is from. 80's came good with Arthur Cox but the money from Maxwell dried up....came good again in the 90/2000's but Steve McClaren leaving as assistant messed things up for Jim Smith. Now back in the big time. Never a dull moment supporting the Rams thats for sure.
Is Cloughie the same guy who took Nottingham Forest to European glory? that is sad... some good teams have succumbed in the depths of second divisions: Leeds and Nottingham Forest in England come to mind... in Spain it just happened with Real Sociedad (hard to believe) and there are team like Alaves, Malaga and Rayo Vallecano that were traditionally 1st devision teams
The match was a great night for me at Derby. I have emigrated to Eire and listened to them on radio getting in to the Premiership again. Good luck to them ! To me Kevin Hector was the best.
¡Qué gran duelo esos octavos de final! Seguramente al acabar el encuentro, ninguno de los espectadores que abarrotaban el Baseball Ground podían sospechar que el Real remontaría esa goleada 15 dias después...
super derby great video just to echo other comments it was a massive injustice to lose in madrid especially since the ref admitted years after to taking a bribe! same old hard luck, chin up were still above forest!
Thanks for the video. I was at this great match and like most Derby fans was shocked by the 5-1 defeat in Madrid. Limerick in Eire also lost 5-1 in Madrid.
Charlie is the best striker of a ball I have ever seen. As he say's himself he never needed much lift in his leg to strike the ball.

DERBY COUNTY! LMAO

Yes thats correct....Derby County. Latest news...Leeds have been deducted 15 points from the start of the new season. They could be no more this time next year...we hope.

Heaven and Earth apart from today's soccer game. In techniques, speed, attitude, mood, etc.

Nice stuff... We need to see this kind of videos on youtube...

vntr2006, you smoke?? This video is yours and you didnt see it?? Two "incredibles" penaltis for Derby, and a Pirri's goal injustly canceled 5:56...the ref bribed?? Yes, maybe in this match.
zikutamix 4 years ago
Manuel - "Me see ref was given 1 million pesatas for the 2nd leg...make Real win"
Basil - "Don't worry zikutamix....Manuel get smack on head for that comment."

Man de second match, in bernabeu REAL MADRID 5 DERBY COUNTY 1, THE REAL OF THE COME BACKS....
zikutamix 4 years ago
Good comeback yes but....The ref was bribed...we had Francis Lee suspended and lots of injuries. Even Manuel, the waiter out of Fawlty Towers agreed!
vntr2006 4 years ago
vaya golazo de pirri , bueno la jugada...
micat24 4 years ago
sorry lads... two weeks later Real Madrid punched hard and settled the score: 5-1 with a field day by Santillana!
kingwilson06ad 4 years ago
Frannie Lee was suspended due to the bust-up with Norman Hunter...distrupted the team...also had loads of injuries. Apparantly the ref admitted he was bribed for the 2nd leg.
vntr2006 4 years ago
well, the first leg did not look too genuine to me, pal... two dubious penalties and a perfectly legal goal by Pirri that got mercilessly disallowed by a highly incompetent ref...
kingwilson06ad 4 years ago
Maybe it was the same ref and he was trying to even things up in the 2nd leg!
vntr2006 4 years ago
LOL... what every happened to Derby County? They were so good!
kingwilson06ad 4 years ago

Stood in the Ossie End that night, the best game I`ve witnessed, & the best goal ever seen from Charlie George. What a game that was !

The match was a great night for me at Derby. I have emigrated to Eire and listened to them on radio getting in to the Premiership again. Good luck to them ! To me Kevin Hector was the best.

ihave the 2nd.leg resume.Santillana punish Derby Team with a hattrick.Great moments of football.
High quality of images in this case.
Es el inicio de las famosas remontadas europeas de Real Madrid que se prolongaron durante toda la decada siguiente.
¿cómo está en la clasificación de la Premier el Derby County actualmente?
quiquegaucho 4 years ago
¡Qué gran duelo esos octavos de final! Seguramente al acabar el encuentro, ninguno de los espectadores que abarrotaban el Baseball Ground podían sospechar que el Real remontaría esa goleada 15 dias después...

Great stuff . Remeember this great game.
I think there was rumours that the ref was bought for the return game.

Yes something stank about that 2nd leg. Also due to Frannie Lee's bust up with Norman Hunter, he was banned for the 2nd leg.
vntr2006 4 years ago
Yeh, and I also think Cloughie had the local fire station load the pitch with water to make it heavy for Real Madrid
rambohs 4 years ago
Dave Mackay was manager for this match. The Baseball ground pitch did not need watering...always waterlogged and muddy!
vntr2006 4 years ago
Yeah , thats right m thw old iron man himself.
Remember the bad pitch too. Tommy Doherty said it was not fit for horses

Great video. I have emigrated to Eire and have just shown it to an Irish lad aged 19. It was a magic night at Derby.

just came across this download recently and noticed your comment. I showed it to my 9 year old nephew.
See you emigrated here to Ireland and there I was wishing I was living in Derby in those glorious days.

super derby great video just to echo other comments it was a massive injustice to lose in madrid especially since the ref admitted years after to taking a bribe! same old hard luck, chin up were still above forest!

How come you can't get that DCFC shirt on TOFFS?
kingdaniel69 5 years ago
Thanks for the video. I was at this great match and like most Derby fans was shocked by the 5-1 defeat in Madrid. Limerick in Eire also lost 5-1 in Madrid.
