relax people, The Dark Knight and Avatar are both great movies. Avatar is remarkable due to the visual effects, which are some of the best ever in a movie, and the Dark Knight is pure adrenalie, amazing acting, minimal CGI and awesome car chases and fight scenes. About Avatar, fuck visual effects. Might as well watch some animators demo reel. About The Dark Knight. There was pure adrenaline? There was and awesome car chase and fight scene? Neither of those were present in this movie. Yeah most of Avatar sucked anyways,except for the last 30 - 45 minutes did make up for all the other time they took from us! The Dark Knight was ROBBED at the Oscars. Should have also got Best Picture and Bale should have at least been nominated for Best Actor.....Nolan should have gotten best director as well. The Oscars are usually bullshit anyways. The only two movies they probably ever got it right with were The Hurt Locker,and The Departed.

If Ledger were still alive, he'd be in the sequel. But because no one can do the Joker for a Nolan movie ever again after Ledger's performance, the Joker will not return.

Dark Knight was not that great of a movie. It's one of the few superhero movies that is not complete shit, but trust me, it's not something that will remembered in moviemaking history, except maybe as the best mainstream comic book adaptation

There's been lot of talk about the amazing color and graphics in Avatar, but all the computer-generated graphics, no matter the cost, still can't beat a great story, like the complexity and multi-layered plots in TDK.
your absolutely right. However if you can see Avatar in IMAX 3D I highly recommend it. Granted the story was a bit predictable, however the special effects surpassed anything I have ever seen. I personally don't like James Cameron and think he's an annoying person, but I will give him credit where credit was due. He made a beautiful movie. However the dark knight is a million times better. I can't wait until the next one when the whole movie is shot using IMAX camera's.
@TenDollarTicket I saw "Avatar" too; and yes, you're right. The story is predictable but the graphics in 3-D are amazing! I, too, can't wait until the next Batman movie! I really like Chris Nolan's darker take on the Batman franchise.

@silver6kriad, actually to be honest TDK had a somewhat predictible plot. It didn't help much that the motives and philosophies for each of the characters were pretty much spelled out and spoon fed to the audience. Jonathan Nolan is a great writer, but he treats his audience as if they are morons who can't understand a plot unless it is pratically spelled out for them word for word.
@CommanderSavage Well, I agree some of it was a bit predictable and they did spell it out for the audience, for people like me who knows the character very well, he was just preaching to the choir, and The Dark Knight was very interesting, I wasn't bored at all during the film, I cannot say the same for Avatar. I don't think Nolan treats us like morons by any means, he just reinforced the themes and motives of the characters, but that's my opinion personally, and you do make some good points.
@silver6kraid Yes the storyline for TDK was interesting, but the dialogue and scenes throughout the film pretty much drill it into your head the philosophies for each characters to the point where you would have to be a moron to not understand. For example the scene in the hospital where the Joker is in the nurses outfit trying to corrupt Harvey Dent, he pretty much lays it out in the open what his philosophy and outlook on life is and how much he disdains order and loves chaos.

@ChristyMorris2715 avatar had great graphics but the dark knight will always be a great MOVIE. in tdk everything comes together and fits perfectly, the story, the acting, the music, the effect. it all just makes it one great experience and that is what makes a great movie. and the term "great" is used a little too loosely with todays critics but this is a truly GREAT movie.

No they won't. Chris Nolan has said he doesn't want a replacement because he can't see anyone else playing the Joker for his series of films. I'm pretty certain of that.
For the NEXT Bat franchise, yes, I'm sure they'll find a new actor, because the Joker is too powerful a character to die. But for this series of films, they'll probably just imply he's locked away in Arkham.

Dark Knight was not that great of a movie. It's one of the few superhero movies that is not complete shit, but trust me, it's not something that will remembered in moviemaking history, except maybe as the best mainstream comic book adaptation

If not, then watch them closely, because this adaptation of batman isn't about the typical story of a hero with powers, the people adoring him.. and all that! I think that this one has a more deep meaning..I can assure that because I'm a fan of superhero movies (Marvell) so I have seen the other movies and, even though I like them, those aren't like this one at all!

There's been lot of talk about the amazing color and graphics in Avatar, but all the computer-generated graphics, no matter the cost, still can't beat a great story, like the complexity and multi-layered plots in TDK.

your absolutely right. However if you can see Avatar in IMAX 3D I highly recommend it. Granted the story was a bit predictable, however the special effects surpassed anything I have ever seen. I personally don't like James Cameron and think he's an annoying person, but I will give him credit where credit was due. He made a beautiful movie. However the dark knight is a million times better. I can't wait until the next one when the whole movie is shot using IMAX camera's.

@TenDollarTicket I saw "Avatar" too; and yes, you're right. The story is predictable but the graphics in 3-D are amazing! I, too, can't wait until the next Batman movie! I really like Chris Nolan's darker take on the Batman franchise.

@silver6kriad, actually to be honest TDK had a somewhat predictible plot. It didn't help much that the motives and philosophies for each of the characters were pretty much spelled out and spoon fed to the audience. Jonathan Nolan is a great writer, but he treats his audience as if they are morons who can't understand a plot unless it is pratically spelled out for them word for word.

@CommanderSavage Well, I agree some of it was a bit predictable and they did spell it out for the audience, for people like me who knows the character very well, he was just preaching to the choir, and The Dark Knight was very interesting, I wasn't bored at all during the film, I cannot say the same for Avatar. I don't think Nolan treats us like morons by any means, he just reinforced the themes and motives of the characters, but that's my opinion personally, and you do make some good points.

@silver6kraid Yes the storyline for TDK was interesting, but the dialogue and scenes throughout the film pretty much drill it into your head the philosophies for each characters to the point where you would have to be a moron to not understand. For example the scene in the hospital where the Joker is in the nurses outfit trying to corrupt Harvey Dent, he pretty much lays it out in the open what his philosophy and outlook on life is and how much he disdains order and loves chaos.

@ChristyMorris2715 avatar had great graphics but the dark knight will always be a great MOVIE. in tdk everything comes together and fits perfectly, the story, the acting, the music, the effect. it all just makes it one great experience and that is what makes a great movie. and the term "great" is used a little too loosely with todays critics but this is a truly GREAT movie.

No they won't. Chris Nolan has said he doesn't want a replacement because he can't see anyone else playing the Joker for his series of films. I'm pretty certain of that.
For the NEXT Bat franchise, yes, I'm sure they'll find a new actor, because the Joker is too powerful a character to die. But for this series of films, they'll probably just imply he's locked away in Arkham.
