This reminds me of when there were real singers. And they were refined. I remember when Michael sang "The Story of My Life"; and I saw him in a film with Shirley Eaton and the Crazy Gang. Those certainly were the days.
Dam...I remember hearing this in a supermarket when I was seven......my older brothers played this Footsteps and Portrait of my love (by Steve Lawrence)...great songs....thanks you so much.
A wonderful performer but also a very insecure one. He never liked doing public appearances because he always felt that people were disappointed when they saw him in the flesh. Somehow his voice didn't match his appearance and he was all too conscious of this.
Me and a mate were sat in an all night greasy spoon transport caff around 1960 at 1am and who should walk in but Michael Holiday who ate his sausage egg and chips sat next to us.
Certainly the best of the uk crooners of his day . I grew up with his music and the song `I`ll always be in love with you ` still brings back wonderful memories for which i shall be eternally grateful superamos31
I'm a big fan of michael holliday's thanx to my late father Peter, love the song Iron Fence which was a B side on a single but u can't buy it from iTunes for some strange reason?
@phulme61 Hey, would you happen to have heard a song he did titled, "That's my heart string, that's my boy"? I've been looking for it for... 40 years...? :)
@UKIPAY Thanks, but that's not it. The one I'm talking of is a father singing about his son: Who comes running through the house with muddy, muddy shoes?... That's the first line. the last line of each verse goes, "Who looks like an angel when he kneels to say his prayers/That's my heartstring that's my boy (x2), But thanks again.
@aakevy10 OK, found the track for you! It is: Thats My Heart Strings. It's on the 3 CD Set of Michael Holliday called Anthology. You may be able to get it from E-Bay. It seems to be deleted. If you cannot get it, I've got a copy, can send on MP3.
Brilliant rare footage of Michael, Michael was a very shy and retiring singer ,who hated being watched when singing according to Gerry Anderson's commentary on the "Four feather Falls "dvd .Michael sang a few songs for the Gerry Anderson western puppet series in 1960,check them out on You tube.
I remember Michael - he used to live close to me in Liverpool. He drove a shiney blue and chrome American convertable. We (children) would all go and see him every time he was home. So sad he committed suicide.
this guy is a good singer :) I like his baritone, but he can go high. and he dresses nicely like singers should, no baggy pants with jewelry and obscene language!
A tremendous talent who had a way with covers and original material, not unlike Matt Monro and Tony Perkins. He is greatly missed.

Micheal chatted to my Mom and Dad a hotel in Blackpool in the late fifties and it wasn't until he left that they were told who he was.
They remember him fondly and say what a real gentleman he was.
