I recall Bud Grant - Vikes coach back int he 70's - did NOT give players any heat on the sidelines on those winter days. No heated seats, no heaters, etc. and there very only a few domes back then as well.
Another thing I recall--all the action was at the other end of the field, at one point one of the teams was driving toward our end zone, then the quarter ended, and then they switched ends.
This is the very first NFL game I ever went to--at Lambeau Field in a blizzard. We were in town visiting relatives when they were able to get tickets to the game. We had seats in the end zone right between the goal posts. The stadium was still packed. It wasn't that windy, so it wasn't that cold, but it snowed the entire game. I recall during time outs the grounds crew would come out with brooms and sweep off the yard markers.
Domes and synthetic turf suck. This is how football was meant to be played!

Vikings-4 Super Bowls when their home stadium was outdoors. None since moving indoors...sounds like they need an outdoor stadium.
