  • There is no way I should have made this. Don't let the numbers confuse you. I've be up in the 40's many times in the last 15 years. You've gone farther than that in 7 months. I'm glad I don't have to grovel yet. When I made my boast, I thought it would take you another month to get this far. Again, thanks for the motivation!

  • I'm cheering for ya too! Even if it means another blow to my ego lol

  • Should have rested, but had to try while I still had time. Hit 50 consecutive. You will probably do more, but I think I got here first. Na Na Seriously thanks for the motivation.

  • @TeamGo33 *sigh* lol....this is not fair, so you started less than a week and then you hit 50 already? what does that say about me? anyways...kidding aside, congrats!!! and I'm happy with my 52 number (for now :))

  • Being the macho... that I am, had to try this, even knowing I am nowhere near ready. did 18/18/20/20/17/17 with 45-60 sec rest. Could not even think about the last 65!! You have a true warriors spirit.

  • Great work. You gotta be able to beat that 50 now for sure?! Good luck.

  • @rolandsc yeah, hoping for 50 in my next exhaustion test - hoping to do that by tomorrow after I finish kickboxing

  • @CuppaWorkout Really looking forward to hearing your results. You'll have to imagine me cheering you on!

Stupid question probably - but why do a max test AFTER a workout? Wouldn't it be better to do it when you are fresh? Or do you like making things harder for yourself?!!!! LOL (Don't answer that, I already know the answer!!!!)

  • @rolandsc well the answer is that I need to loosen up the muscles. Last Monday, I went to kickboxing and my shoulders were shot....so it's an odd logic but basically, I don't have a fresh day because I always do things everyday....now it's better but before, I used to do 2 workout a day (kickboxing during lunch, crossfit at night).

I think if I do Power Yoga first then all muscles will be warm and loose, then it's a good time to do exhaustion test.

  • @CuppaWorkout Its a wonder you have time to fit in all these challenges at all! That sounds like a very tough schedule! So when does your body get a chance to rest?! I think even pro athletes have a rest day! And you used to do 2 workouts a day! No wonder you can zip through those 100 burpees!

I agree with the need to warm up the muscles otherwise you could tear a tendon or something like I did a couple of years ago. But if you've done power yoga do you need to do the warmup pushups as well?

  • @rolandsc 2 workout a day was back in the day (which is period of Jan - May).

Now I do kickboxing 3 times a week, circuit training 1 or 2 times a week, and my own WODs in my living room including push ups. But I walk 2 times a day with my dogs so think that I'm happy with my level of activities right now.

The only thing that I'm missing right now is power lifting....my circuit training is great but typically this is like 15 - 25 lbs plate with high reps (i.e: walking squats etc).

  • @CuppaWorkout SOunds like a good mix. I bet you can remember the day when circuit training with 15 - 25 lbs seemed really tough but you probably throw them around with ease now!

  • @rolandsc clarification, what I meant was I wished I could do power yoga but had no time hence I did jumping jacks & 30 push ups to warm up before the big sets :D

  • @CuppaWorkout That does explain my confusing remarks!!

I still reckon you might improve your max reps if you didn't use pushups as your warmup. You could do a few minutes of shoulder rolls and arm swings to get your shoulders warmed up, and a bit of a stretch would be a good idea.

  • @CuppaWorkout Okay - I tried it your way i.e. max rep test AFTER a workout. Good news - I made 62! How did you get on? Did you hear me cheering you on?!

  • @rolandsc damn! how could you move to 62 so fast? see...I just can't win against testoterone, you guys probably train for 4 weeks and pass 50 in no time while I've been doing this for 3 freaking months !!!! anyways, aside to that, congrats!!!! I'm happy for you and I'm quite happy with my 52 (for now that is)

  • @CuppaWorkout Mmm sorry about that. I was trying to be an "encouragement" by working with you! I'm sure you're right that it is easier for a man. Regarding training, I have not specifically trained pushups until a few weeks ago, But there are pushups and chest presses in my regular classes, and bench press occasionally in the gym. And I have been using heavier weights to push myself. And my 62 probably took twice as long as your 52. So I'm slow! Best wishes.

  • @rolandsc hey no worries, i was just kidding, thought it's awesome that you can hit 62 (38 to go) :). I used to lift too but haven't done so in the past 3 months (part of crossfit). don't feel bad, of course girls/women need to train harder if they want to compete with men :P.

  • Off to the gym, a long soak in the spa and yoga to recover from yesterday.

  • Incredible! and solid form. You are kicking my a@@ little girl. (sorry, I use that term to push myself, no disrespect to you, kind of applies to anyone under 30) This is noteasy for you, but you power through. I need to work up my endurance. I was afraid you would break 50 on your last set. I'm not ready to grovel yet.

  • @TeamGo33 did you say you did 125 consecutive squats? I better get back to that so I can still have the upperhand lol

  • Wow, this was your biggest set yet, right Cuppa? Really outstanding work, I am amazed how fast you recover between sets. Also, excellent lighting, thanks! That HAD to be frustrating, how it skipped like that. But I know you did them - after all, what's the point in cheating? :) How often are you supposed to do the exhaustion tests? You must be up to 50 by now ... or more?

  • @nasaguy, yeah, there is no point of cheating, what am I trying to prove anyways? I'm not going to be the strongest nor the fastest at youtube, just trying to stick to this dare and reach the goal (and feel good about myself). If others feel like joining me, then it's great as I feel like I contribute something back :P.

I will do exhaustion test in a couple of days, probably tuesday after my kickboxing when my body usually feels warmer. Yeah, hoping for 50 this time :).
