  • It is my Odysssey to a place where human life meant nothing...especially my own. An eloquent chronicle of the events that took me over there. I came back emaciated and withdrawn and dirty. I lost contact with every friend and family member for almost an entire year. My mother thought I was dead. My brother thought I became an opium addict. The fact is, I was taken to a place that I am too ashamed to ever openly talk about. I was in a survival mode.

I have existed in that mode ever since.

  • @jonlawstaf i too have been in your shoe's"so to speak" but I love you for your sacrifice. As i have made trhe same.. "It don't mean nothin"..as "They say"..

  • @9KPhalak SHUNNED religion!!

  • @coaytch Yeah I thought is was shunned too. But I looked it up on lyrics.com to be sure and it said "stunned". Just goes to show you can't always believe what you read on the internet. Thanks for the correction.

  • first group to play in Russia and I could have sworn I had this album in 72, but then I do have big collection of U H. Preferred them to Beatles

  • This is kick you in the face rock 'n roll. There are some good bands out there today but they're not making music like this, Autograph's "Turn Up The Radio" or April Wine's "Roller". I want to hear music that makes me want to move, not slash my wrists.

  • i saw them last summer in Dayton , Ohio . they rocked the Fraze pavillion just like it was 73 all over again which was the first time i saw them live . in some ways i hate getting older but we had all the cool bands to jam to . long live R&R !

  • point taken...I did not realize the Heap was UK for a coouple of years. But the music was the first I heard stateside in over a year...and, well everything around me seemed to be moving so fast back here....the Heap helped me settle my thoughts down..is that wierd or what?

  • I have all U.H.'s albums except for this one. Does anyone out there have a copy for sale??....name your price.

  • @SHELLHEAD1961 I have one but the price will be high.

  • My first real live concert was Uriah Heep, 14 years old and the start of a lot of

good concerts. Black sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep purple and many other followed

in the years to come. I wish i had a time machine to live it all over again. :-)

It was a wild time. A happy greeting to all you old rockers outthere from me.

May you never grow old and responsible :-) Rock On.

  • @thorfinnolsen great days indeed !!!!!! Music was real and truly inspiring back then!!!!!!!

  • came home from Nam Sep. '73...and this was blastin' on the radio...life was GOOD! God bless the U.S.A.

  • @mdawg1238 except they were a British band ! As were ALL the great bands of that time !!!!!!!

  • @darley1958 WTF does that have to do with my comment...when you just look for something to crticize, you show how small you really are...God Bless the United States of America!

  • @mdawg1238 It was not a criticism but an observation( big difference)wherein British bands made Americans feel good...so I guess we should say thanks to Britain for that dont you?

  • @mdawg1238 Thank you for your service!

  • @gklcinc you are welcome, gk. I will never trust my government...but I would go fight tomorrow for my country. There are bad people everywhere...and sometime you have to deal with them.

  • @mdawg1238 There is a lot of bad people everywhere. It sure bothers me sometimes but what can you do? I trust only one person, GOD!

  • @mdawg1238 Glad your home, thank you. You're #1 in my book.

  • @mdawg1238 thanks for your service to our great country....we wouldnt be so great if it werent for folks like you sacrificing life and limb to ensure our freedom.....the cost of freedom is a high price paid by the brave few while the meek enjoy the fruits sheltered from it all. All gave some but some gave all. God bless brother.

  • @modread666 AMEN.

  • @modread666 : thank you to our brothers and sisters for your service to our country, we did not appreciate you at that time, Lord help us if we do not learn to treasure our warriors...

  • I just mostly translated the Italian caption above while listening to the song. I don't know Italian. The lesson is: Uriah Heep gives you spooky powers.

  • Love Uriah Heep! Seen them many times in the 70s!

  • Comment removed

  • I was born in the wrong time period. My generation gets crap of music, no talent, using computer made tunes, and has little to no meaning. Jammed out to this while in iraq. Some long days with very little happening, this got me through the day.

  • @Prpich25 Kudos to you for serving! Glad the Heep got you through it!

  • @WrathofWotan Hey thanks brother.

  • @Prpich25 Glad you are safe my friend and than you for your service.

  • @Prpich25 You must live a very unfulfilled and pitiful existence...there are plenty of good bands of this generation. Mars Volta, for instance. Check Pain of Salvation's Road Salt One and Two albums.

  • @TheWatrosFly Ha, how long did it take you to come up with that one? Well a troll is gonna troll right? About the only thing im gonna "Check" is the spam link to the right. That crap you pass as music is good for emo, but thats about it. I can see now why you choose the words "Unfilfilled" and "Pitiful". Self refelection eh? What a douche.

  • I'M 63 AND BLIND NUFF SAID N BETTER TO CORRECT MY MISTAKES N I WAS BORN A GENERATION FOR THE GREATEST ROCK BUT 1 TO SOON FOR THE COMPUTER AGE..

Lets not overlook, "Look at Yourself"(July Morning), And the entire "Demons and Wizards" album. Many happy memories...

    RIP: Gary Mervin Thain (15 May 1948 – 8 December 1975)

  • Timeless epic.

  • ahh yess thanks hav,t heard that song in 30 yrs or more first concert heep! dave mason angel

  • For those about to rock. Learn this song. Do it justice. It will wow the crowd and take you far.

  • This is my first of..ya missed it by THAT much..concerts, didn't take long for next one either, I was trying to find out where Mountain was playing, nine hundred times we'd get directions to, Mt. Fuji...as with a song that I'd like, I'd buy the LP just for THAT song, but with UH, it was better, I'd buy their LP just for the artwork, and my first buy led me down a long winding road.

  • Yes good vibes, and wow man trippin

  • WHO DOESN'T JUST LOVE THE LITTLE "A-HA" AFTER THE LINE"I DONE THE RANCHER'S DAUGHTER......"?

  • @millermb1956 I did the ranchers daughter. she took me out behind the barn and showed me what life was all about

  • @godforge2003 Thanks man. I had liked this song but your insight has opened my eyes. screw stravinsky and mozart too. what the heck. how many years shall we make the cut off when we don't like stuff any more? You're an idiot.

  • @karlmoles65 Hey, is that freedom rock man? Well turn it up!!! Lol

  • I knew this guy that was in a local band, they played this song. I had never heard this song before and when I heard them sing, I just loved it..Good Music..

  • being 46 years old, these guys are a tad before my time. Although as i grew up i realized that if you were cruising around listening to these guys. you were one of the "cool people". which my older brother made sure teach me by example..god i miss those days..kids these day just seem to be so mean...just my opinion tho (- =

  • Ass-kicking shit, no doubt. No matter when you were born.

  • Uriah Heep has an album titled "Very 'eavy, Very 'umble" which is a reference to the character Uriah Heap in Charles Dickens' novel "I'm so very 'umble".

They were probably not named after the biblical Uriah.

  • when music was music

  • is this band still around

  • @toledozoo1 They still tour, Lead singer (Bernie Shaw) is from my home town.

  • very like album ,,sweet freedom''

  • Shut up!

  • actually ur dad was on acid when he said that,he had to be,or shrooms

  • ur dad's opinion is fine but what do U think?

  • Is Uriah Heep a biblical name,I'm clueless

  • @Syzygy60 Uriah Heap is a character from a Charles Dickens novel. "I'm so very 'umble"

  • @Syzygy60 Uriah the Hittite was the Husband of Bath-Sheba The woman King David saw bathing on her roof had an affair with , then had Uriah Killed when she became pregnant

  • @Syzygy60 Uriah was one of King David's 30 Mighty Men, the Husband of Bath Sheba who David comitted adultery with and was sent to the worst part of a batttle abandoned and killed when Bath Sheba became pregnant by David

  • got caught stealin... better regroup and try later

  • My dad always said if you mix Deep Purple and The Moody Blues, you get Uriah Heep.

  • Seen them in chicago at the "Aragon Ballroom" a real shit hole.

$5.00 tickets and watered down beer. had a blast.

  • @grabbermavman I hope you were caught up on your shots before you set foot in that disease riddled place. I always did.

  • @TheDean283 No shots needed, smoked a couple of doob's and droped a hit. what i can tell you is if you had to use the mens room, you might be safer outside, for sure cleaner!

  • One of the first bands I played with played Uriah Heep and we painted one of the album covers on the wall. Smokin' and playing U/H. No better memories.

  • This was my 1st concert in Detroit back in '72 or '73, man what a show I was hooked from then on & still am. They don't have concerts like that anymore, if i recall i paid like 10 or 11 bucks for floor seats.

  • In the early 70's, when I was still in high school, I thought that David Byron was the worst singer I had ever heard. I wish to fuck I knew what I was thinking when I formed THAT opinion.
