hi friends i m giving online classes for new students or old students on skype if anyone want to learn tar shehnai esraj dilruba taus so add me on skype my id is arshadisrajplayer
Beautiful! Would you mind, can I ask... would you have any advice on bow/gaj technique? I'm a beginner and live too far from any good teachers. I have awful trouble keeping myself from sounding scratchy. I've tried less rosin, more rosin, changing my Gaj for a cello bow, tightening the bow, slackening the bow... yet I still end up scratchy... maybe i should invest in a new set of strings? If so what could you recommend? I'd be very pleased if you could help me in any way.
Thanks Manavk. Yeah it becomes very obvious when I'm bowing too hard but even when lightly drawing it can squeek and scratch a bit, but thanks to you I have found that if I angle the bow away from myself when I'm playing the lead string it seems to work better but if i'm bowing the thicker strings I need the whole flat edge of the bow rather than the reduced edge if I were angling away from myself. Thanks for the help.

hmm .. most people just bow too hard
and the angle matters a lot as well you're going to have to try and find what works on your particular instrument

Hi Nick
there are 4 Instruments in the Dilruba Family:
Dilruba / Esraj / TarShehnai / Taus.
Mine is an Esraj/TarShehnai
( an Esraj is called TarShehnai when a high-pitched mechanical amplifier is attached on to it )
