@ukrsonic the 2000+ subscribers to my channel seem to like music on all my videos. Also you can hear the engine in lots of places, very well over the great song. Video is for me, anyone else who likes it is a bonus
question, why do people buy kits and not build them? too much money not enough time? PS. i love that spitfire it looks fun to fly lots of wing area, nice clouds as a back drop adds to realism.
@datzfast it's a lot of things, time, money, skill, but kits like this take a long time to put together, especially older kits. I have a few kits myself waiting to be built, see them online or somewhere and say "I want to build that one" and it sits while you do other stuff, or collect just the right components for it
Such a nice plane !!! Are you sure the spinner will hold ? With those screws around the outside , are you sure its balanced ? Check out Truturn spinners, they are awesome, though pricey :)
@dirkberserk sorry, not replying till now. Tru turn is one of the best for sure. This spinner I'm sure is a good one as well, the guy who owns the plane is a perfectionist. I'm sure it's been well balanced for the prop and plane
Looks like you gotta finish the paint job. Do you? Or is this the final scheme? Great plane btw, I hope to own one these giant scales one day, for now i'll stick to .40-.60 size ARFs
@gogogeedus thanks. just so you know, your video response will only work on the last video that it gets approved for. Can't put it as a response to more than one vid
lol that will be useful for a friend of mine, he has an extra, same scale as your spit and its a bitch to hand start. tried starting it and un flooding it for about half hour once then he gave up XD its fantastic when its going, especialy when prop hanging.
I've seen some guys use a car starter modded with cup for the spinner, huge though, and used 24 volts on it. It's in my Victoria's littlest big airshow video, big P47, huge thing, and the guy is doing a pass 2 feet off the ground full speed,
I have several Saito FG, including the FG36 - they are the easiest engines I've ever hand started. You just need to prime them before you turn on the ignition.
Dude this is a simply awesome model. I have been looking for a quality version of the best aircraft ever and I think I have found it. Do you mind me asking on a scale of 10 how difficult is the build (10 being most advanced) thanks and great vid.
Hey planethaven. Thanks very much, the model is a very good version of the spit. Yellow aircraft make some of the larger and better detailed models around. I didn't do the build, but I am pretty confident that the kit required intermediate to advanced building skills. Say a 7/10 or 8/10 If you have built any large scale RC before, it might not be too bad, but very tough for someone just looking to get into RC. STart by building a few others first, some smaller arf kits first be best.
And if you haven't flown any RC yet, get some of the cheap foam stuff like a supercub to learn on becuase scale warbirds are very VERY hard to fly. Some better warbirds to fly are the Hangar9 planes, like my Miss America, flies unreal, and with not too much time into the hobby to learn to fly.
Thank you very much. I did my sail-plane solo quite recently and have had hands on experience with quite a few powered craft as well. I hope this put me in good stead for rc. Having said that, the little experince I have with choppers did't help at all for my rc model. And just one thing I forgot to mention, great piloting. You make the manouvers look very realistic to scale.
Yes, Realflight, and FSone, Reflex, Aerofly and Pheonix are all RC aircraft simulators and cost about the same as a cheap plane, and will save you from crashing your first one you buy
Planethaven, the yellow aircraft kits are a pretty easy build. My buddy built the p-47 as his second kit. His first being asimple sportster. The kit is complete and well engineered and has good instructions. I have this plane and it flys great. I have a spare kit sitting in my room right now. Go for it I say.
A yellow aircraft warbird is not something he should jump into, IMHO, they are large, and while they may fly well to a seasoned RCer, someone who has just done a solo on a glider, should probably try a few smaller planes first, one that you don't spend years building, and 1000's of dollars. Put a bit too much glue on these kits, don;t put it together exactly right, and they fly like rocks. Not exactly forgiving for a rookie wanting a Warbird
No doubt , they sound great, especially when I slow em down for fly by's too, makes the sound more like full scale. More clips of that Spitfire to come soon hopefully, he's doing more work on it, stacks are already on, but he wants the scale working stacks to go with it instead. That'd be unreal. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Now that he knows it flies well, he'll do up the paint job unreal. Might even go with the scale exhaust stacks you can buy, and replace the static ones it comes with. You can see the spot where they go, behind the cowl. That would be unreal to see the stacks working like that. There are youtube videos of scale stacks like it. Too much cool stuff out there man lol
Thanks dude, he had already put quite a few ounces in the nose, but when he tested the CG it was with the gear retracted. Flew much better once their up, but need that stability when they're down too, so ... more lead hahaha
Finally! Someone else at the field with a nice big warbird! Great first flight...does look a bit tailheavy though! You can never have too much nose weight in a short nosed warbird!
You bet, it'll be weathered, smoke stains, the works, just had to make sure it would fly well and no major work to be done, before finishing it off to perfection. Thanks for watching

Hey I wanna ask, does this run on straight gasoline? No premix or anything?
Naturepheonix 10 months ago
@Naturepheonix it does take a oil in there, but to be sure, look up the specs on the Saito 36cc gas engine

That's a tight approach for a maiden flight with a Spitfire, your flapped and slipped finals were very nicely flown, well done! Lovely model too.

Not sure exactly, but might have been a Sullivan hi torque. I know we had to use 24volts on it, instead of 12. We just put two 12v batts in series
