@tate180 It is a 1984 Carvin V220 with Carvin M22 pickiups. The body and neck are solid rock maple and the fret board is ebony. This makes it's natural resonance quite loud. The mid-range is in your face when you plug it in.
@beyondlwm I had this great tab from a Japanese transcription of the song. I changed some of the fingerings to better suit myself but it didn't have any tapping. Is it on the 12th fret of the high E?
Dude! That sounds really awesome! I really liked the way you played it, it sounds so clean and you did it note for note! Do you know that Randy also played that on "Breaking up is a Heartache"? An early song from Quiet Riot, he changed the solo a bit on the end.
Dude, play with FEELING....I'm seriously not trying to be a douche like some on YouTube, but when you talk are you monotone? Why would it be any different with your guitar? This is one of Randy's lessons he taught his students.
Listen to the recording again and note where he puts emphasis in the bends and how he inflects and slides between notes....
great job, one of my fav. songs, can't believe this wasn't released on original B.O.O! Randy Rhoads one of the best ever, died way too young, i think 25, brutal
how did you know? I double the actual speed in my video software.... You're a dipshit if you truly think I sped it up, it's called practice and technique.
Ahh cool. Yeh I realized they weren't DM's when I saw the video of them closer up. They do look like them though! But yeh you can't go wrong with EMG's. Good Choice!
Thanks MrConeman! It's always been one of my favorite Randy solos too.. never learned it until now, sure glad I did.. has some cool techniques with the open E in it. (that was giving me real trouble, I never saw a transcription of it until I found Cableguyxx's)
what type of guitar is that it looks cool i like its tone

I love your guitar next to the Marshall amp! Is that Charvel? I think it has the Kahler tremolo on this does it? I really love it!
pyroteria 2 years ago
yep, a Charvel model 2 with a modified Kahler that I turned into a straight bridge.
DemonDik 2 years ago
what kind of guitar is that?? electra?
pbiava 2 years ago
I think that the guitarist from Starship used to use the guitar like this. I do not know if he still does.
pyroteria 2 years ago
That looks like a Carvin V220.
Carvin has reissued this model lately and I snapped one. Love'm.

nice V220! are you a fan of Marty Friedman?
Tokipasta 3 years ago
Very much so! Rust in Peace is one of the world's all time best guitar albums!!
DemonDik 3 years ago
His solo material and Cacophony work is far better than his work in Megadeth. Marty used a V220 while in Cacophony with Jason Becker.
