I have a 20 inch CRT Konka TV, and it makes this god awful high pitch squealing noise and if the color white stays on the screen too long the color gets distorted like a magnet was held to it, any ideas? i can post a video if you'd like.
@maro2k9 The high pitch squealing is something in the horizontal output vibrating, such as the yoke/flyback/etc. Poor solder joints in the circuit, etc.
If you have the brightness/contrast up high with a white image on it, what you are seeing is the shadow mask becoming distorted because it is getting hot. This is normal for any TV, but some cheaper TVs it might be more pronounced.

I always liked the '75 Motorola Quasar!
Hopefully you get the CRT rejuvinated.
And was this the one where the instant-on was left on? maybe thats why the tube is so weak eh?

@wilkes85 Yeah, it does have instant-on, and I found the TV with it in the On position :(
