  • bullshit ..like a keyboard of childreen

    -

  • did yours come with the usb dongle? if so have you tried using it wireless?

  • @spaceshipable no the usb to midi cable was just generic item i bought seperately.

I now use this from it's midi port into an audio interface midi port on my Rig Kontrol.

  • Monkey Island FTW

  • You Sr. Rules! Only one question, the pro guitar Came with the midi output or i need an adapter? Pls let me know

  • the first riff is fucking awesome. You should play it live, I'm sure people will have jaw dropped of it and some confusion. lol

  • @ransisua MetallicA - To Live Is To Die

  • i have managed to get sound from omni....but no high and low on the guitar pls help!

  • @SuperEarther You might need to press either X or B to change the octaves to get it to work.

  • @Harrysound i loaded up a guitar sample from the database selection box but all i get is sound patterns from each string/fret....strange. Must be doing something wrong. Will try x or b thanks

  • @SuperEarther try pressing either Back or Start I forget which one but it changes the guitar from legatto mode to plucking the strings mode if you like...either way, your nearly there :)

  • @Harrysound any sound pack you would reccomend using? i tried the classic guitar one but still getting the hang of it......does the stand alone player have built in instruments?

  • @SuperEarther Sound Pack? I dunno if you actually bought Kontakt or not but I did so i've got the run of the whole library of sounds. I really like the Harp :) . The stand alone player has what ever you put into it, Kontakt is just the engine to drive whatever you have.

The sounds in this demo were all from the free pack available on the web site.

  • i tried my guitar with a midi connection that goes into pc but not having much luck. All i get on guitar is red light beside the 3....any tips?

  • @SuperEarther im using the edirol usb midi interface um-1sx with kontakt 4. Deivce works fine on windows 7 but its the guitar end i dont think that likes this adapter. Are there specific ones i should use? (i have the xbox 360 pro guitar)

  • So wait... All I need is the guitar which I have... cubase/kontakt... which I have... and it will work? No special program to get it to read the guitar?

  • @LifeAmongTheDeadBand Correctomundo , jusy need the USB>MIDI cable

  • @Harrysound

    wow this is great! thanks!

  • So I am using the guitar with Cubase 5 / Kontakt, it is amazing. I was wondering if you hare having trouble with the keys suddenly remaining pressed? Even on synth mode, if I press a key sometimes it remains stuck. This is without picking the string and having released the key.

    Any ideas?

  • @EduardoMC07 Yes just fret a bar across any frets and press down to mute.

MIDI is on/off signals. a sustained note is just a note that hasn't been told "off" so any note above it or on it should silence it

The quickest way to find that note is just to do a bar with your finger.

  • Did you cover your fret with some sort of plastic?

Also will any version of the guitar work, ps3, x360, wii, etc?

    Thanks!

  • @EduardoMC07 Any version should work, just needs a MIDI out port on it...

  • does it record in one track all the strings or each string on a different track?

  • @matimaui One track

  • is it usb powered or battery powered? does it have only midi out or can it send midi via usb? is the midi playability as good as the squier strat midi contoller? is the midi as good as the yourock guitar? any answers to these questions wil be appreciated

  • @matimaui 3x AA batteries required. Only has a Midi out but obviously you just need to buy a MIDI to USB cable.

Midi playback should be on par with the start, i'm not sure of the differences in latency.

  • is it usb powered or battery powered? does it have only midi out or can it send midi via usb?

  • Did you paint the buttons to look like fret markers?

  • @tegolin Stickers :)

  • can I use my RB3 fender mustang guitar on an amplifier??

  • @satanicmantrare5 nope, only while connected to some equipment or computer hardware/software that accepts midi.

You can buy better real guitars for less than this costs so obviously only use this if you absolutely have to.

Or like me you want to play other instruments via midi.

  • @AlyMckntsh93 Oh yeah Native Instruments Also offer Komplete 7 Elements which is a stripped down package for a rather more affordable price of around £70 ish

  • @AlyMckntsh93 Well you need to find a program that will accept MIDI signals. Thats not hard.

You then need that program to trigger sample banks it may have built in.

Basicly, if you have something like Cubase or Cakewalk or Pro Tools or Reason or whatever i'm more than certain you'll be able to find some FREE Instruments to use as VST's or RTAS.

  • @AlyMckntsh93 I got the demo and demoed a few other product in the Komplete 7 package then decided to buy it.

It cost me £400 for the entire lot but even now I can't believe the quality ,value and flexability of it all.

    It's amazing.

  • OH YEAH Monkey Island theme!!! 3:23 - 3:47

  • cani just use my own electric on rock band 3. i don't want to buy a controller when i already have my own real electric. it has a whammy barr, a jac, 21 frets, and 6 strings. that's more then what the controller has.

  • @EasyExpertVillage you probably have a Telecaster....hmmm?

And no, you can't do anything of that.

  • that looks sweet!

  • is thear eny latensy to?

  • @maxxyporky only when plucking the strings.

It has to figure what strings and how hard you plucked them and then send that info off so there is delay there but not so mcuh you can't use it.

Also depends on you Audio Interface.

  • hey man! where did you get that controller from?? ive been looking online and have found similar ones but can't find the one with the white button inlays like you have!

keep up the amazing work dude! :)

  • @brutalaxxe The inlays are stickers I stuck on because i'm an old school guitarist that just kept getting lost on this 17 fret guitar lol :)

I bought it from ASDA (british supermarket company owned by Wallmart) online store. i've never been in one of the their shops so i'm not sure if they sell it there.

  • You`re genius! So cheap and so damn good, man! Plus great playin`!

  • What is the song that you are playing at 4:15? It sounds really nice :')

  • @9617kurtis Just jammin' :)

  • @Harrysound Well thats some awesome jammin' :D , I really like your work.

  • Comment removed

  • wat was that first song u played?

  • @PoTSmoka42O To Live Is To Die (middle section) by MetallicA

  • @Harrysound ty!

  • can i use the wireless dongle instead of a MIDI to USB cable? i see the guitar in my devices list but i cant find it in FL studio 10

  • @zhevox No...you have xbox controller portion in you list....you want the midi instrument side of things, that requires a cable.

  • @jacksoncollins1 yes, the back button, or start? i cant remember toggles this.

  • Looks like the controller got RRoD

  • does anyone have the same problems of open strings not decaying and no hammer ons or pull offs? is there a solution?

  • @theZodiacDigital if you want an open string to stop just press all or the actual fret buttons on the neck to stop it.

Kinda like muting with your other hand.

No way around it i'm afraid so keep away from open notes.

Hammer ons and pull offs can only be done in legato mode by pressing the start or back button I can't remember.

Obviously in that mode, no plucking the strings it's all hammers and pulls or nothing.

  • @Harrysound Just a question, does it happen to you that when you hit a note too fast, it never decays? When I hold it down for too little time it seems like the "note off" signal doesn't travel... does this happen to you?

  • @theZodiacDigital Yeah sometimes.

It just kinda gets confused sometimes.

Maily open strings though and never tapping mode.

Just quickly lay your fingers across a bar of buttons and press down to stop it.

  • I have a MIDI to usb and the Kontakt demo but I can not figure out how to set it up.

  • @IansUnknownArt Plug the input on the midi cable into the guitar.

    Open Kontact. Goto File>Options>Audio.

Select you ASIO driver and various other options.

Then goto the 'MIDI' tab and see you MIDI cable in the list.Click you cable under the status collum and select PORT A or the first option that turns it on.

Now load up an instrument from the library and play...

  • @Harrysound I have no instruments in the library. Where do you download some?

  • @IansUnknownArt So you must have downloaded the Kontakt player, to get the instruments used in this video here just go back to Native-Instruments,com and look to find the "Factory Selection" which is a free download of a set of instruments. you should also get an email about it sometime soon.

  • @Harrysound thanks for all the help it worked perfectly. Now I keep getting demo time-outs lol

  • @IansUnknownArt You have to activate the free Factory Selection I think? You should have the details in your email.

  • @Harrysound Do you know how to change the tuning on the guitar?

  • @IansUnknownArt O a Mac yes. There is software by a guy who contacted me on Youtube to test it out.

I use a PC so was unable to help. As far as I know it's not possible on PC yet.

Unless you just wanted to down tune or up tune the standard tuning.

You could do that by just de-tuning the Instrument your using, there is a dail dedicated to this within Kontakt.

  • So all I need is a MIDI -> USB cable?

  • @TocsDK yes, I bought and used a generic one I got from Maplins here in the UK so any cable should work.

  • @Harrysound I might look for some of the cheaper cables; some electronics tend to be really expensive here in Denmark. Thanks for the quick response though. :)

  • i got the squier wondering how to hook it up to my pc?

  • @Shahzaa I don't think thats a midi certified instrument is it>

  • 1:00 Nothing Else Matters? lol

  • hey, first off - thanks for uploading this video, definitely some interesting stuff going on here.. i'm thinking about getting one of these soon but i'm concerned about the usb-midi cable - most of the cheaper ones that I've found have comments about the Mustang controller being incompatible, so I was wondering which cable specifically you were using? thanks again.

  • did you try the midi adapter for a real guitar? im about to buy it, but not only to play... im looking to use it as a tool when composing...

  • @mintroini do you mean the real fender rock band guitar ?. I'm not sure that has a MIDI mode?

If you mean the adapters you can get for your real guitar that change real notes into MIDI then, they are terrible .

  • Hey.

Thanks for the vid! Can you comment on the velocity settings? Is is 0-127? Can they be changed? How accurate are the string triggers? Is the tracking worse when the hammer ons are enabled? Is there an editor to change sensitivity or other parameters ?

  • @pilofree The strings are velocity sensitive the buttons on the fret board are not.

You can change the MAX and MIN velocity within kontakt easily.

The fret button triggers are spot on,very good.

The string triggers work but do often miss trigger if played like a normal guitar.

Being Midi though this is easily fixed and its a great way to lay the foundation down very quickly.

Hammer ons dont work in string mode, its one or the other.

Download the free Kontakt player and poke around for yourself.

  • @pilofree The free Kontakt demo (player) with some free stock sounds can be had at Native-Instruments,com

  • top e string (frets 1-7 make no sounds when string plucked), frets 8-17 work. on the A string frets 1-3 do not make any sounds when A string plucked, but frets 4-17 work. and on the D string, frets 1-2 do not work but frets 3-17 work. the remaining GBE strings, all frets and notes play. (ran out of commenting characters). there are no guides on configuring the midi to DAWs on the web yet, other than this video pretty much. Thanks for your time

  • @sledhammer1 The X and B buttons on the guitar shift octaves up and down , you can see me doing this in the video.

  • Great video, I tried to replicate what you've done in Kontakt only I was wondering if you could post more detailed instructions on configuring the midi to work fully. I select my midi input and select the omni channel . but for some reason a few of the first frets dont play notes. do i need to change the key options? It would really help me out. like on the top string, if i hit frets 1-7 and pick E string, nothing. but frets 8-17 play. or if you could post a config file to d/l would help a ton

  • serioulsly? brilliant.

any kind that was close enough to fit or you just cut em and put em on

  • @bigmarkdarula Just cut them up and stick them on.

It's a mess if you look closely, I didn't do a very good job but you know, it's a plastic guitar....

  • how did you paint your buttons? i really need to do that...

  • @bigmarkdarula Stickers :D

  • This video answers so many questions for me. Thanks for posting it.

  • LOL Awesome I see you got it to work. Its easy isnt it.

  • amazing
