Hi,me and my new formed band named Mr. Fox just released our first song called ''Sur le Toit''. We would be very grateful if you could just go on my channel to hear it because we worked hard on this!
This cold world is not for you.... I have strength to carry you.. To the valley below. Come to us Lazarus I'ts time for you to go~ Follow me down to th valley below. Moon light is bleedin from out of your soul This was brilliant and apocalyptic..
@MrDeadsea000 Maybe you could start to value music to its own quality instead of comparing musicians like apples and pears? That might solve a lot of silly swearing on YouTube videos at the same time...
I always though the album cover portrayed a de-winged angel, hence the title. I thought of this song as about an angel who was cast out, then welcomed back. After reading the first few pages of the script, i was set straight, but i still think my thought was somewhat more poetic...
i love how every other song you look at there is some sort of dispute in the comments ; not Lazarus though. I almost cry listening to this sometimes at the line 'My David don't you worry , this cold world is not for you. So rest your head upon me , i have strength to carry you'
Okay I'm a massive PT but, but of all the PT songs that could have come up in the top 3, Lazarus? Nice song, but in the PT canon it's not in the top 20. I have spoken.
Recently I've been falling in love with this wonderful guy. We've been talking a lot lately, and we're getting pretty close. He lives far away from me, so I don't get to see him as often as I want, but listening to this song reminds me of how lucky I am to just have him in my life.
Even though I miss him a lot.
I'm probably responsible 30% of the views on this vid, hahah.
When I first saw the album cover and heard this song and album name, I thought the figure on the front was an angel with his wings cut off. While wrong, I think it's a beautiful metaphor for some things, seemingly perfect, that find themselves injured in some way and must rely on help and support from others to return to their place in the sky.
@tml2193 I saw them last year, and they were phenomenal! And the venue was packed. So it seems many people 'care about it'. PT are one of my favourite bands.
porcupine tree is ground shaking, because its really good music and nobody likes or cares about it, but i believe in their music. IT'S JUST SOUL TOUCHING. i know i explain that too much but i cant explain enough of how good these guys are.
oh dont listen to the lyrics and take them literally, its metaphorically phsycadelic rock. its really good and most people dont understand it but if you pay attention to the psycadelic smooth rock in it it's really soul touching
Hi all. I'm new to Porcupine Tree. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend me their best album, so I can have a first good impression on them. Thanks.
@brazwen In my opinion, this is his best album, then Blackest Eyes, and thirdly Lightbulb Sun. I haven't had the time to truly listen to his other albums.
@brazwen They cover a big range of styles. If you like Pink Floyd or psychedelic prog rock, check out their first few early albums. The Sky Moves Sideways is probably the best from that period. Then they moved into a more song-based pop oriented style (but still very good) with the albums Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun. Recently, they have changed direction again, and added a prog metal Tool-esque sound. In Absentia is a great album from this period. All their albums are great, though
@TheAdam159 Thank you for your comment. I love Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Tool (Mainly versatile bands just as I had mentioned). I've heard of Porcupine tree, and how great they are, but I never got into listening to them - too busy with university, so many studies. I finally got a break, now I'm checking out some bands and getting back into guitar playing again. :D
As far as standalone PT songs go, i don't think anything beats Trains. It looks like it has a lot less views though... any new PT fans, go straight to Trains :)

this is like a song emphasizing death as a healer not as a disease that we have come to see it as...........at least that's what it looks to me....what an OSM band
@jzsking I agree. If you honestly take a look at all the evidence and take a sceptic approach, then you can't possibly come to the conclusion that there is a god, at least not a god of any religion. And a deist approach is just meaningless as it's more or less a god of the gaps strategy, a way of saying "I'm too afraid to say that I don't know".
But then religion/faith has a strong hold on the believers, and therefore there can still be intelligent believers.
The names are pretty obvious, both are from the Bible. Lazarus is the man which was resurrected by Jesus. The famous quote: "Lazarus, come forth." (Thus the last line in the song). David is another Biblical Hebrew name, he was the greatest of Israeli kings. Though it's not clear for me, why is David here in this song, it reminds me the legend of David and Goliath, that took place in the Valley of Elah (Follow me down to the valley below?).
You do know that just because a song uses a name that comes from a book, that doesn't mean the song is about the book. Lazarus is about living once more/being revived, it could also be a metaphor for similar things.
I doubt he wrote about the stories in the bible as religion is one of the things that sickens him. There are several song's he's made that cover's these topics. Google "swfbinterview.html" for an interview with this.

I just can't get into this guy's voice because it sounds like Dave Matthews or the singer from Coldplay and my brain associates it with bad memories
