I don't understand why these are illegal in a lot of places. I find them very similar to having a small cat or a guinea pig. They can be put in a cage when needed to and they are very smart and can be trained. I find them almost perfect!

Theyre a lot of work, but so worth it. They make amazing pets. Ensure atleast 4 hours of proper out of cage playtime a day. If you cant always supervise them, you can make a large playpen and fill it with toys and tunnels and things and let them play. Theyre sociable so get a pair. They need two important vaccinations when you first get them - Canine distemper and rabies (US). Ask a vet. : )

in america they cost about $100.. My ferret was rehomed to me so it didnt cost me anything (even gave me a cage for him.. ) Ive had him for almost year now!! He is my little Bundle of Joy!!! He has a new cage with lots of toys on their way!! (kinda like a little birthday persent for him!!!! )

I got them from my local pet shop, they were like a month old when I got them, and now they are two years old and happy little critters :D Belle & Lumi, soooooo cute hehe there are vids of them on my account take a looky :)

its a good idea to find out all you can about ferrets before taking them on , i love ferrets ,they are such loving little things , i starteed with a older ferret as to get used to them n learn bout them wen u get a kit u haev to teach it not to bite an toilet trainthem aswell , for soemoene hos not ahd a ferret before i wud reccomend getting n older one an best going to a rescue centre where they spend time handling them

In the UK, you'll almost certainly have to get a ferret from a breeder (they're a bit rarer here than in the US and you won't find them in pet shops). Just do a google search for ferret breeders and/or ferrets for sale and click the "only show pages from the UK" option. You may have to travel a bit to get to your nearest one, but you should come up with plenty of options.

I guess it depends where you are.  I have never seen a ferret for sale at either of those places, but they do have section of the store for buying ferret stuff. I think they are still illegal in some states, but petsmart and petco knowing how people are have just chosen to stock ferret supplies.

In the pet store where I buy the food for my ferrets, there are three big male ferrets in a too small cage.
