I learnt pinch harmonics by accident one day when I realized that if I hit the string in a certain way, it will come out as pinch harmonic. And I didn't even know that some Zakk Wylde existed back then...
It's very important for some intermediate - beginner guitar players to know that pickups play a very important role to harmonics so if you can't make it with harmonics maybe it's the pickups. Also make sure you are holding the pick the right way. ( youtube it ).
Professional musicians get paid top dollar to play in public, Zak Wylde is probably the best guitarist in the world in his genre of music. He is highly sought after because he's the very best, period... Be thankful he allows himself to be taped and shown on you tube. How is it showing off when he's about to do the same or better on stage right after his warm up? Showing off? gain is a major make or break for pinch harmonics... at least to make them sound awesome. it's possible to pinch harmonic on an acoustic, but its not practical nor does it sound all that nice.

loomis and laiho are on their way to becoming legends. not quite yet, but definitely very established, up and comers. laiho will be mentioned in the same breath as zakk wylde and dime in years to come. he started when he was 18, same as zakk, and his career's been equally successful as zakk's was when he was 30.
hey, come to think about it though, alexi isn't really even heavy metal or thrash.. he's melodic death..

ok pal kerry king and zakk are best freinds and kerry could probably out solo zakk , but in a versatility contest zakk wins, compare the Solo in war ensemble to the solo in Super terrorizer...kerry wins by a long shot

i actually prefer zakk's solo in superterrorizer than war ensemble.. but superterrorizer is far from zakk's best.. those would be ones like hellraiser, and suicide messiah..

I'd be happy to see you play like Zakk (not Zack). Post the video! But remember, you gotta make them squeal like Zakk, same vibrato! That's what's special about it, if you just get the harmonics to sound, don't waste our time. That sysyster gates guy doesn't even come close to make strings squeal like Zakk so i'm guessing you're not the guy who's gonna do it either. Lots of ppl can sound clean if they don't dare to bend the strings with power and passion. i think you might be too young to see it
