  • i think a metronome would clarify some things for me at times, I loose the feeling of beat here and there,.

  • are you using effect for this sound or it is only the bass??

  • Please work on coherency. Maybe you should try to just hold a groove. This stuff is just not working for you. You're just noodling around and know a couple of harmonics. The harmonics don't even fit the groove that you were trying to make. I used to do stuff like this. Try playing with records to improve your ear. PLEASE get some help.

  • Great work khan57!!! you got a sub!

  • Great work khan57!!!

  • What pickups r u using?

  • Tres joli son, c'est magnifique!

J'aimerai trop avoir une fretless moi aussi!

  • Nice sound and your tecnique!

So anyway,Please teach me your using effecter on your playing!

  • GREAT tone

  • long fingers

  • Jaco would be very impressed. You've capture his timbre, staccato, glissando, and of course "the Jaco Groove". Very enjoyable. Brings back nice memories of Jaco, "The man on the bass."

  • that is just amazing

  • Hey, that's pretty good!

  • Great tone, man... very sexy

  • Wow Great!

  • hey man, like all the other guys said on here, ur tone is fantastic, great stuff

  • yes , nice sound and flow . hello from london . i like it ...

  • es marciano de enanitos verdes?

  • Good Sound (Y)

  • I checked it out and it's not that one... it's kinda hard to describe a song that is in my head and i dont even know the name and stuff, but it was a song pretty relax.

    thank you man

  • First of all, great video, you sound really nice. And second, I've been looking for this song and i don't know the name or who played, but it's a song from the early 90's, a song played in a freetless bass. Anyways, do you know some songs like that? This song remains me the trains, going in a train. Anyways, thank you, and great bass man

  • Hamburger Train by Primus?

  • i love your tone! it really sounds great!

are those active pickups? and what kind of pups are those?

  • I meant the fingerboard...

  • B onjour, nice playing Sir!

I wonder if your bass has an ebony neck, it does? Nice tone...

  • good job men, and the fact you modified the instrument yourself deserves double credit

  • *****

  • Nice playing and good tone.

    *****

  • wow my purpose was not to play like jaco i'm far from him in different ways, i just explore the style of my favorite bassplayer but i have my own style that's with this that i'm bassplayer pro since 30 years but in france maybethat is not the same value for than usplayer USA is the country of music

  • "USA is the country of music" ? ? sad. triste. tragique.

C'est ça qu'on dit içi (amèrique) des pays d'europe.

  • When I was young, I was also had Jazz Bass without plastic. Like Jaco. In our country is a lot of Jimi Hendrix clones - every village has one. From time to time we also see clones of Jaco, Steve vai, Satriani, etc. NEVER Billy Gibbons. Because : you must be BIG talent for simple playin'...

  • I play fretless bass since 1984. Rosewood is better sound than ebony (ebony is too hard). Once I had mahogany, good sound, but after few mounts under G string I saw "trace".

This man play too fast for his experience. YES, it's similar to Jaco, but : this is far away from Jaco, OK. Like Squier is far awy from USA Fender. Jaco was the only one.

  • The "fender are better than squier" get´s e in my nerves! for gods sake! it obvious! squier are cheap basses and not every can afford an USA fender! so fuck off with that kind of comments! what is the point? Jaco is Jaco blah blah blah this is quite, why do you have to compare? he doesn´t want to be jaco, he just likes the style, asshole

  • Great Job younging

  • the bass is ok! wtf? nice video

  • man that was great

    a real nice looking bass!

  • Superb sound and playing. I love it.

I assume this is a defretted neck?

  • <3 i love u

    <3 nom nom xr

  • nice!

  • i miss my bass....but i couldn't use it, in that level...well done dude.

  • you have great technique very articulated

  • is that a rosewood board?

  • Yes it is.

  • It is in fact Pau Ferro, Rosewood would be cut to shreds, most fretless' fretboards are Pau Ferro or Ebony.

  • or you can use epoxy to cover the fretboard and protect it from roundwound strings.

  • not necessarily, jaco only used rosewood. but yes it is softer than ebony and pau ferro. ebonol also, but thats not wood

  • ebony has a crispy tone, i want one of those

  • Considering that he pulled the frets himself (a la Jaco), I would be surprised if the fretboard was anything other than rosewood. Especially considering the fact that most players that pull the frets, do so with bass's with the most common neck wood. Even Jaco's bass had a rosewood fretboard. I had a maple fretless that never showed any real wear, even after years of playing. Though not an actual rosewood, Pau Ferro is sometimes called Brazilian rosewood and is relatively the same hardness.

  • not to mention you can use flat wound strings to minimize any wear on any wood*

  • ki som bala

  • No effect direct in the pc

  • I need some advice. I can not touch tuned ...

there is a trick or exercise? please, i need your help :'(, sorry for my bad eanglish, i'm from argentina :P

  • For staying in tune on the fretless bass, try: start with your E string, and find the octave (e on the d string), and find octaves for all notes. Then practice 5ths, 3rds, 4ths, etc. Use your Ear!

  • excelente

  • very good sound!

  • superb,ce magnifique.

  • nice man

  • great job

  • Good playing but I don't feel the swing, man.

  • It's all in your ear, dude. (-1)

  • cool glasses

  • nice clean tone man!!

  • I love that Bass! which wood did you use to make it?

  • Haha!

  • OMG...

  • nice tone dude !

  • tasty

  • That's a really cool groove man, did you write that?

  • gah, this is definately easily mistaken for jaco

  • awesome....very jaco style, for sure....now it´s time to search your own...you´re probally has much more to offer!

  • very sweet tone!

  • very nice

  • You will do a good performance what!

  • Those are flatwounds, right?

  • No roundwounds D'addarion prosteels but very used

  • nice!

  • Magnifique moi qui détestait les jazzbass je crois en être tombé amoureux ^^

  • excellent !!!!!!

  • really really good. do you have the score/tabs? please?:D

  • ohh that would be great !!!! even if just some parts of that solo maybe ...

  • Great groove, way to move to the rhythm. Excellent technique and unique style with some old flavor. You deserve a record deal. /;)

  • fuck yea

  • Nice, you got that jaco sound going there!

Pretty smooth fingers too.. Really nice work

  • kids not bad at all

  • my dad played fretless :P

  • ya, i like the clean sound. with a regular, sometimes the strings can clank against the the fret board

  • That is a seriously nice sounding fretless

  • to me they are, i can read music notes instead of tab which most people where i live cant. and it also keeps me more focus on playing since i know i have to play certain songs out of a lessons book which is sometimes good and sometimes bad. right now I am learning theory and that was a big part of jacos playing so hell ya it is worth it.

  • he took off the pic guard genius

  • ya, i am an idiot

  • dont be hard on yourself because there are basses that dont come with pick guards, such as warwicks...

    unless you are being sarcastic

  • ya, the next day when i went to my bass lessons, my teacher has a telecaster with no pickguard and i noticed all the holes from the screws were the pickguard was. and i was being sarcastic about calling my self an idiot.

  • are bass lessons worth it?

  • where did you get the bass with no pick guard?

  • Wow Jaco Lives on Good choice of bass and love the 69 fender pickups nice call!

  • nice mate, i think that my jazz bass sunburst would sound better without fretts, just like the kings

  • Dude I want your bass! It sounds really pure! O' and good call on the '69 fender pickups!

  • nicely done, now try something of your own. its quite hard to stray from the jaco style once you get immersed in it like myself

  • so what

  • hi sir

ur good...any tips for a newbie like me?

  • Vraiment, vraiment cool ton clip. Je te felicite encore une fois!

    John

  • The tone is ok, but the beat is bad, try to play with a drummer or whith a click from a metronome. Jaco did have a perfect pitch and he had timing to.

  • Who is this guy?? He's great...not just copying Jaco like the most who try...he really gives a rendition on this one! And swings! Wonderful!

  • soundin good man XD i learned all of the slap pop double slap stuff, i just need a groove like dat

  • A squier jazz bass remodeled with 1968 fender pickups

  • Excellent... Awesome bass.. what is it?

  • you can bend the strings on your bass so easily, whats the scale?

  • Yeah nice axe, but nobody has mentioned your intonation. It's spot on! Beautiful tone too!

  • really nice hon!...great tone an feel...

  • nobody seemed to comment on the bass itself. for a homemade bass, its very nice. how long did it take?

  • two days ,one day shaping the body abd give the color and one day for the finish

  • Oh man good stuff. Love that jaco tone, doesn't get any better than that for me. Still could use a bit more of that stanky funk. Jaco always had a taste of that in his playing and it helped add to his whole vibe, well if thats what you're looking at trying to nail here, if not, well keep at it!

  • There's no so much time for me to work(i'm 50 )

    but thanks .

  • thanks einblick for the news flash, although if this guy got the harmonics more down and some speed and endurance witht he left hand along with a little work on the right he would have jaco pretty much down

  • I know "hélas"

  • jaco is dead pal...

  • MINUTO 1 SEGUNDO 26... AHI EMPIEZA LA DESPROLIJIDAD...

IT'S GOD, BUT NOT PERFECT... TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING

SORY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH... YOUR GOD... BUT NOT STYLE... STYLE JACO PASTORIUS... LO IDEAL ES MEZCLAR TU ESTILO CON EL DE JACO Y OTROS BASSIST QUE TE GUSTEN... WOOTEN, PRESTIA, PATITUCCI... OR BANDS... PINK FLOYD, LED ZEPPELIN, DEEP PURPLE.... Y DE LA MEZCLA SALIS VOS...

  • you got it right !

  • i really like your right hand work, but the fast passages need a little work, just for clarity. really nice though :)

  • vraiment excelent,j'adore la fretless mais je ne fais pas sonner la mienne aussi bien que toi

  • Attack the strings! nice tone and fingering

  • Wow...is that a squire bass? Sure sounds good!

  • Yes just a corean model (but i had some luck i think ,there is one good for nine generally)

  • Heya man!

Encore! Encore! Tres tres beaux! Jaco is alive and well and err...French! ;-)

    peace

    GuyCee

    PS Great sound dude!

  • Excellent ! very nice tone too. : )

  • Bonjour! Peut tu SVP m'expliquer ce que c'est un manche poncé? Est ce que c'est rosewood en anglais? J'aime beaucoup le son de ta basse!

    John

  • Manche ponçé it's a neck pounced but i mn't sure of my english ,le bois c'est du rosewood ,j'ai enlevé les barettes ,pate à bois dans les trous et poncé ,tout simple en fait .

  • tres bien ! thanks. made my day

wanna watch jacovideos ? watch my directory...

  • OH I made it a lot

  • Bonjour et félicitation pour ce clip, il est excellent! J'aimerais savoir quel chords tu utlize. J'aimerais égalment savoir si la bass a été modifier avec de l'époxie a la Jaco. Ou pourrais-je voir un clip de toi? Cet vraiment bon!

  • It's not so expensive ,a squier bass 200 eur some energy and tools , et Voilà

  • OK, thanks. So what did you do to it? I'm genuinly interested :-)

  • Remodeling the body with ponce paper ,some paint (bordeaux like the wine ^^) paint the pieces on bass(brige, button ect.. in black) and fender 68 jazzbass pickups (offered by a good friend of mine customer guitar center)

  • Hello! (En francais en bas!) I really dig this video! What strings are you using on this particular clip? Is the neck epoxied? Is there somewhere where I can see more of your bass playing? It is really cool! John (jfharvey44@hotmail.com)

  • veru nice, btw how old r you?
