When I lost oil Pressure I was like f***, but i kept driving when I got it home it was a little noise lol. got 600 miles out if it with it making the noise and when it went it still started up lol. Drove it up on the trailer and Oil ran off the trailer hehe. Wont have 2 worry about rust.
Well the minute you see oil pressure drop, you need to check the oil! Why did you keep going? My head gaskets are gone too, my oil pressure drops, and I throw 1 or 2 qts in and she's good haha.

hmm... lets see here...have you tried a new battery? because i had that problem, but my car was DEAD, dead dead lol, I had to get a new battery, most cougar batteries have a bad cell that depletes their charge. its a V8 right? cuz im only good on v8's :D
i basicly have the exact same car as you, except a 94. i want to put a new muffler system on it, but im not exactly what u call a car expert. my friend told me to put on some flow masters, which i know what they are, but im not sure if the cougar will last that much longer, and for me, 300 bux isnt a small amount of change, being only 16. i was considering putting on a 49'er kit on the cougar, but that runs for like, 3 grand.

1 thing... cougars have 3.08 gearing. but you can get an aluminum 3.73 gearbox and that will speed her up, then a new power module, then an eaton m90 supercharger, then a sound system for the HUGE cougar trunks :)
well you can tell him that it has a 5 star crash test rating ( i've checked on sevral occasions) and that they get 24+ mpg... i get 25.they look good w/ 17" mustang rims
KEEP THE CAST IRON BLOCKS! with cast iron you can put much more abuse on the engine, and you can run higher psi turbos/superchargers with a lower risk of cracking the block... aluminum is strong, but it can't handle huge psi's
cast-iron is almost impossible to break and can take extreme conditions/higher psi's.
Very nice man. I've got a 91 with the 5.0 H.O. Mine's black too. Had to get it repainted though because of sun scorching. Just got the a/c fixed a couple of weeks ago. New struts are next. Getting some nice Edelbrocks. I've spent at least $3500 so far fixing it. I plan on getting a supercharger sometime too (Can't wait!).

Come on guys. I have a 97 4.6 Cougar and i've been beat by a 4 banger. A really nice audi 4 banger. Cougars are heavy as hell, and if you pull next to a light weight v6 you are going to loose. Plus, our v8s only crank out 210 or something like that. And put twin turbo's, much better then super charger.
actually...the 4.6's crank 230 stock... and the weight is a good thing... it keeps the tires planted solid, and if you know how to drive you can beat any 4 banger or v6... turbos are expensive as crap... ill stick with a supercharger...this isn't my dream car so im not gonna load into her lol. an eaton m90 pos will work ight for me...

Ya I plan to add a 7-9 psi supercharger,flowmaster exhaust,racing tires, and suposedly there is a bod kit for this car that makes it real nice looking, but it isn't ricer like at all.But i just waxed her and I am puttin the 2nd coat on 2morrow so Ill get another movie up.
thats a very nice cougar, mine is a 94 4.6l but it looks terrible, i got it up and running recently (sat in the garage for a few years) and its been the car i use for long distance and for downtime when i turbocharge my 2003 f150

They can take a lot of abuse, one suggestion is to get some support bars put into the chassis frame, so the chassis doesn't bend and such. :)
They can be welded in at a shop very easily :P

let me tell you, cougar 4.6 Modular V8 motors last FOREVER they last around 260,000 miles+
and flowmasters are OK, but try a custom borla stinger catback. It sounds much nicer.
