I was but all of three years old. I don't remember anything. All 1991 has ever been to me is a nostalgic buzz word for 30/40 somethings about how music was better when they were my age. I can't climb in a time machine and go back and see a Dinosaur concert or a Soundgarden show. Point is I like music from that era but I get tired of hearing it. It kind of makes me sick to my stomach. There is a different music phenom going on and I think it has to do with the internet.
"Eh sitting around, go uptown, come home, go to somebody's house, sit there for awhile, come home, watch all my children and go to sleep, get up, go uptown, go to somebody else's house, go home. There's nothing going on like anywhere, really, so you might as well just sit where ever you are."
It sounds to fast to me. I have both versions of the wagon and none sound like this. The subpop version did come out first in 1990 before "green mind".
kurt copied j - its like comparing fuckin some stupid screamin kid to a cool dude, like just sit down and like relax- wherever you are cos like there is nothing goin on anyway-may as well smoke a fucking j while your at it
Haha. The interview is the highlight. Without fail, J is the most uncomfortable interviewee I've ever seen. I wish snubTV hadn't cut off the end of the video though. That song deserves to be played out in its entirety.
Just hanging out with people you know ha - like a typical 15 year old kid

Let me translate J Mascis language at 1:02 Go to somebody's house: Get High, Sit There for a while: Smoke some weed, Come home: Go to my dealer.

Mascis doesn't need to pull his punches because they were never cocked in the first place. The man drips chilled out vibes, man.

What was fun about it?
stopthrm 3 years ago
what was fun about 1991?
1. School was easier
2. Friends were more reliable
3. Grandparents were still alive
4. I didn't have a boring job
5. The music was better, the "alternative" sound was more mainstream
6. We won the Iraq War quickly
Just to name a few reasons off the top of my head...

Heh, ya know, when I heard that this song was inspired by a car crash that Mascis was involved in, the lyrics make much more sense.

Anyone notice that the version of The Wagon playing in the video is the early version? It's the version that was on the original Sub Pop single.
