Read somewhere that Cozy Powell was the only drummer Plant, Page and Jones even considered asking to join Zeppelin before deciding to disband after John Bonham's passing. Assuming this isn't just some urban legend, its a pretty cool compliment to his skill
Was at the Manchester Apollo gig and seeing this blew me away apart from the pyro's he had these tubes that just spat flames during Cozy's solo FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC!! brings back great memories of a great night.
I can't help listening to this song every single morning going to work by car. And I always arrive there with a triumphant smile on my face ! Thank you Bri ! Really !!!
@Konyrapid I've always wanted this on DVD too, especially as they had to cut the gig down for the CD. But I'll be buggered if I'm gonna fish for a VHS just so I can watch the full show.
According to an interview (i'll let the link somehow): "In Rainbow, I used the 1812 Overture with the full Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. I would play to that, and there would be a lot of lights and effects. When you saw it, it seemed incredible. It was only me playing a drumkit, but when you get a sixty-six-piece orchestra, choir, a few bombs and smoke, it's unforgettable, whether you like drums or not. I've always tried to do a solo that's spectacular...."
"... In the Michael Schenker Group, I did a thing where I incorporated the 1812 Overture and a piece of music from the 633 Squadron, which is a war film about the planes bombing Norway, trying to get a nuclear plant the Germans have. It's a very famous piece of music and I would use the theme music in the set because it was very British."

saw them in the NEC and Liverpool Royal Court, two *fantastic* gigs!

I gues the drum solo it is from Emerson, Lake & Powell era (Emerson Lake and Palmer's Pictures and an Exhibition theme)?
