  • 10 out of 10 easy! Amazing, amazing work.

  • would love to hear you do "aint nobody"

  • Dude! I used to DJ back in days so I know the original track by heart but your version is amazing! The rap is great too. Fantastic job from beginning to end. Watching you play that funky bassline is a treat. I'd love to have a real Moog some day :-) Having Chaka Chan on speed-dial would be great too ;-) This song was always an instant floor-filler. Thank you and take care!

  • Amazing! I don't know your other work (yet), but feel tempted to say "You've outdone yourself!" Well - you've done a really, really great job here, absolutely stunning!

  • You did a great job. By the way, nothing match fat moog bass.

"Ain't nobody" also have great bass line, perfect for your moog, maybe someday you can cover this song to.

  • @303machine another great tune, this is my favourite cover of it.....

    watch?v=xTDqhiavP3E

  • firstly great track, secondly loving that section @2.47

and thirdly was it you that remade the track? If so what are you using for the harmonica? It's very convincing, as is the real slap bass.

  • @LeeroyK2009

The harmonica is the Korg TR-Rack.

Yes, the whole track was remade by me using Logic.

    Thanks mate.

  • @Geeljasjes I assume you did it all by ear so kudos on that.

So much variation throughout the track even on just the bassline, it's the tiny little stabs that make it, along with the runs.

It's the D that always stands out as pure funk, what is that, a flat 5th?

I've got a trinity v3, so I'll have to dig out the harmonica patch when next in the studio and have a play.

Keep up the good work, I'll have to dig out a request for ya ;)

  • @LeeroyK2009 LMAO, my tune of choice would be pointer sisters - automatic but you''ve already done it!!! Just listening now :D

  • Minimoogs are the SHIT! Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they use a MiniMoog in the actual "I Feel For You recording" ? Because it does sound similar!

  • Dude, that is the shit!! That's awesome! You nailed it!

  • nice

  • nice ^^

  • You are the FUNK MASTER!! Well done!!! OMG I can't believe it. And your rap was great, too. ~Rhythm Droid (from America!)

  • No song before it sounded remotely close & for the last 25 years artists attempted to duplicate it w/o success.

    Awesome board btw.

  • Very Nice! Fantastic!

    It's Funk'in!

  • This is great! I had the 12'' version of this track.

(I think we have the same taste in music)

  • WOW very well done !!

  • Wow, you really nailed that early 80s Electro Funk/Soul/R&B bass sound ... beautiful! Also my favorite sound and favorite period of music.

  • Awesome key bass !!

  • very good recreation!

  • Great job! Does the original use a Mini?

  • Awesome!! F... Funky :-)

    I like it!!

  • That's sounds so cool.

  • Whoa! Now THAT is impressive! Gotta love that MiniMoog. I was an audio technician for over 20 years of the last 8 I repaired keyboards. I repaired a few MiniMoogs and I must say it was one of my favorite things that I worked on. It is hard to top the sound of that little beast! Great job on the recording. I Feel For You is one of my favorite songs. BIG Chaka fan here :).

  • This version reminds me of Stevie Wonder, like how it would have sounded if it had been his song

  • @snowball1988 Stevie Wonder did play harmonica on Chaka Khan's version. Prince's original recording is nearly perfect, so Chaka's producer Arif Mardin went crazy and tossed in Stevie, The System, and Melle Mel, to outdo it!

  • This is RIDICULOUSLY hard to do. Hats off!

  • Geeljasjes=A true master

  • The funkiness and the chords scream out that this song was written by Prince.

  • brilliant!

  • nice

  • is that the original backing track?...if so where do you get it from?

  • @snowboard360

    No, it's completely redone.

  • I really love the sound of your Mini. I also have a mini with the older OSC board in it.

I have been trying to replicate your Minimoog sound but mine sounds a bit diffrent. I was wondering if you might be able to share all the settings for this Chaka Khan bass that you made on your mini. From what I can tell 3 OSC are on Saw tooth , 8,16and 32. I'm just not to sure of the rest of your filter & ENV settings.

    Thanks

  • @jebeq2007

Only one oscillator was set to 8 steps, the others to 16.

The shape of the sound is really what makes this sound funky.

    Short Decay on the filter.

Most important to get that click is to set the contour open.

    Filter should be almost closed.

I generally don't detune the two oscillators.

  • @Geeljasjes Hi, i never get enough of this, Im new to this. if i may ask, when you say "short decay on the filter" do you mean the Decay Time knob (what number do you have on yours). you mentioned "Filter almost closed" which knob are are you referring too. I would appreciate your help with this. regards

  • Nice mate! Keep the funk rollin'

  • Bravo, bravo, bravo!

  • Yeah man this is some great stuff !!

  • Amazing!!! Awesome stuff! That was a really great way to start my day! THANKS!

  • Hey great, love it. Right, best funky period ! At this time musicians were really good. And you played and produced very well, nice gears.

  • mate that is amazing !

  • I make a deep bow for u. That's a really astonishing performance.

If I ever will have a mini moog, I will ask you to give me some lessons.

I can't wait for the next mini moog along.

  • great great great tune and playing.

  • i could listen to you play mini bass all day.

  • Oh, man, you brought back memories ... (age hint)

    Great work! Bravo.Greetings.

  • Fantastic work dude!!!

It's so nice to see that you use your vintage keyboards for actual playing unlike 90% of the people here who either play endless pentatonic scales or just make awful "dance music" on them!

    Keep it up.

  • Wow!! You're great man!!!

Any chance for some Brian Mcknight?

    I'll keep on tracking you!!

  • well done!!M8!!

  • sweet man, so glad i found your channel.

  • Wow mate. Worth the wait for this! Stunning. You've a real talent, a real tough song to re-create and make it sound so perfect. amazing

  • WOW!

I saw the Metropole Orchestra with CK tonight, so sorry she didn't ask you ;-)

How about taking my 'Cry Baby' in between the lead instrument & mixer next time?

It might beef up the line.

And yes I'll take of the mess in my toolshed next time (nice shatter/clash you recorded up here)

  • Great job again! You picked a tough track... Your harmonica part is pretty convincing. Was the original done with a DX-7? I seem to remember a preset.
