No, I don't think it is fake, it's probably the steel electrodes making the sparks though. That is a BUTTLOAD of capacitors!!! God only knows how many thousands of dollars worth, and probably alot more than is needed to destroy the potatoe.
Not fake. The potato blew into pieces and the drywall screws which we connected the wires to nearly blew apart too. It was raining potato chunks for many seconds after the discharge.
