A complete libertarian makes no sense in this day in age. Most libertarians are not actually libertarians either, they just think that it means being responsible for your self and yourself only, although your freedom today relies on other people's lives. So this little to no Govt. idea is kinda irresponsible in itself.
The whole problem with NCLB is not that it tests whether students make a certain level, it's that it punishes schools for not getting their students to the wrong kinds of skills.
If schools taught students to think, discern, communicate, read write and do arithmetic, that would be actually great. We waste so much time getting scientists to appreciate Shakespeare while some dumb-ass thug gets a bye even though he can't actually read.
The Bush doctrine said that the leaders of america see it as their responsibility to defend the world from evil and reserve the right to intervene with violence at any time, anywhere they want in the world.
I've seen two or three other interviews from The Hour and I must say the host conducts some of the most dynamic, thoughtful, unpretentious interviews I've seen. Wish we got the show down here.
if ur reading this u cant go back there was a dad who got pissed couse he got layed off so he went home took a knife than went to his 13 year old daughter and slit her neck! if u r reading this and dont forward to 10 vids the 13 year old girl be sitting on the endge of the bed waiting for tha when u wake up who ever takes care of u will find u in the tube full of bloode with ur throat slit and than the 13 year old girl will come to who ever takes care of u so hurry dont be the that unlucky one!
Oh, BTW, one of the things he harps about is Dubya's 'No Child Left Behind' programme, which helped break the chokehold of Teachers' Unions on the school system in the U.S. Here in Alberta, Canada, we have a successfull charter school system. I thought 'conservatives' wanted more parental control over schooling? Vulgar Marxism really does explain everything: O'Rourke's employer, the Rolling Stone, is A Democratic Party rag. Guess who the teachers' unions funded in the last Federal election?
He once wrote something to the effect that Wahhabis are really no different/worse than U.S. biblethumpers.
He's another one of those "overpopulation is hogwash!" types.
Like Pat Buchannan and Dick Cheney, he was another 'conservative' who weaselled his way out of the Viet-Nam war. He also thought that sanctions against Apartheit SAfrica were wrongheaded.
This guy is just a right-wing Noam Chomsky--hoping people will forget his past stupidity.
Actually he is quite open about his past stupidities. On numerous interviews I´ve heard
him admit to his past wrongs and numerous discretions. He is more libertarian than republican but unlike Noam Chomsky he is not an anti-American American.
lol. imagine this pissant trying to debate anything with PJ O'Rourke. Please, if you're so concerned about over-population, you could do us all a favour.
O'Rourke's population poo-pooing went to the effect that--with (then) current population levels (~5B) and a density of Manhattan--the world's people could live in the former Jugoslavija. Like all overpopulation naysayers, PJ never considered the collapsing fish stocks, nearly-depleted aquifers in India, and imminent dustbowl in the Prairies and other environmental things. He also thinks it's 'racist' to say that third world people have too damned many kids...which they do. Very 'liberal'...
I used to run with P.J. back in the day we both were banging the commie chicks with the ballet slippers in Baltimore when he wrote for "Harry"....would love to touch bases forty years later......
P.J. is the most brilliant satirist/humorist since Mark Twain, George is the wittiest and most intelligent talk show host on TV, (bar none) and could someone please tell them I said so.

George is great interviewer. I like O'Rourke he's a funny and smart guy but he ignores a lot of facts to make his points just like every other pundit.
My thoughts exactly..the george kid is not very bright...! I certainly would like to see PJ with his own show! I wounder if he has ever considered this or if he has ever been offered it?

That's far from traditional republican values.
