  • yup...thats american kenpo...not chinese

  • thats cool im a 3d degree brown belt and im doing a tournament soon and im doing this form and i feel confident in it but do u have any tips??? plzz rite back

  • @slippedy Have someone video tape you then watch it to see where you can improve. then practice it, over and over until you get bored from how easy it has become.

    GP

  • What's with those sidekicks at the end of Heel Hook? I never learned it like that, and I don't see the application of it.

  • I was familiar with most of that, but there were alot of details I wasn't familiar with.

  • I enjoyed your post.

  • cmon dude you cant use that in a street fight, but nice style, one of the best

  • cmon dude It's a teaching tool. Kenpo works, I have done kenpo for 28 years, I've worked as a bouncer and as a paramedic in Miami's inner city's. I can tell you what works.

  • Yeah, I hate using gis because whenever I start doing anything it just falls off... T-shirts for the win

  • why is he only using his arms to move?

  • I don't know what you mean...

  • use your body to generate your power, youre stepping, but your steps finish and then you use your arms (you lose the momentum that your legs would have generated), also accelerate at the waist / spine, the muscles are alot bigger than your arm, and will give you alot of power

  • You're right, I didn't see it before but since I have done this kata like 10 times in the past few weeks I definitely step deeper and harder than him.

  • had a big post :P but pretty much its because he has his mind in his hands, dont get me wrong, train hard, but in order to reach a higher level of skill, the body must coordinate (in combat, only one chance, so that step has to do everything (generate force, cover distance / move to the correct angle etc)

  • Yeah, pivoting turns a small punch into a heavy punch etc. I figure he was just focused on doing the kata without forgetting something, or it just doesn't occur to him to use deeper stances and such.

  • is this instructional? He's moving kind of slow for that particular form

  • Katas aren't meant to be done fast

  • is he dancing?

  • It's a Kata

  • A good kenpo technician, and a goodfriend.

  • My old instructor he is the best. I wish he was still around
