  • Sounds like mine, rod knock.

  • any updates?

  • Pull your oil pan off and the baffle. See if you can wiggle the rods on the crank. If you can, you spun a bearing to where there's nothing left. In that case, you'll need a new rod, crank, and new bearings.

  • Check the fuel lines. Looks like everyone said everything else. Sorry about your Subie man.

  • no compression

  • Sounds to me like a rod knock, but I'm not super experienced with that kind of stuff.

  • what happend with this engine? sounds like a Volskwagen beetle :(

  • have you had it appart before?

  • No to everyone still not fixed. I put new head bolts on the passenger side and it made the startup sound more even but still no fire. It is time to take the engine out and inspect the innards

  • yeah man it sounds pretty bad and its shaking pretty hard to be something external. you might have yourself a blown motor..

  • that doesn't sound good. have you solved the problem? I hope so, it is more than six months ago. subaru engines are usually very reliable. i once had a problem with a 'popping' exhaust due to spilled cooling liquid in the cylinder, but that was the only problem. it still ran reasonably smooth on three cylinders.

  • spun bearing or lifters?

  • It may be the cylinders... did you fix it?
